The clever thing about the Briscoe Farm bit is that it actually advanced the story with Mark beginning to realize what their game is.

It might be recency bias speaking but that might've been one of the best on location segments they've had since the Acclaimed raps against Global Nonstop Action

At the off-chance that the main event of Double or Nothing WON'T be Sammy laying down for MJF, I already pre-ordered the PPV for the extra FITE credits. Even if it will be turned into a 4-way, won't those two do their damnest just to get inside the ring alone and do the taking the dive anyway? I mean Sammy still wants the check, right? Well, there's still enough time for the friendship to implode, obviously, but as things stand now, it would make sense, right?

You know it'd be a good twist on the formula if they keep trying to steal the win but Darby/JB keep breaking it up which leads to MJF/Sammy's deal coming to a head and Sammy going all out against MJF because Sammy can't even lose right.

Bad episode for the most part. I didn't like Takeshita doing the lazy pin on Butcher, but maybe that was a receipt for Butcher not selling the bodypress earlier in the match.

Jarrett not getting referenced as either a former world champion or Hall of Famer is weird and they could definitely do more with him - Dax looked off tonight but Jeff held it together

Jarrett's Chyron mentioned he was a 10 time world champion when he was coming out, but yeah Jeff definitely held that match down with a rough looking Dax. I wish we got Wheeler (Cash or Yuta???) instead.

Do you have Punk be a heel or do you Cena/Cody him? Fans will do what they do. It seems safer to have him be a heel but that also positions him on the mic to say worse things and who knows if WBD doesn't want him to be a rah rah face of the company. I don't think you want to position babyface Jericho against him. That seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

You Cena/Cody him, hes above the face/heel designation at this point considering the fans that hate him will hate him and the ones that love him love him. It's transcendent in my viewpoint.

I actually want to have a sidebar from the Pillars discussion and talk about title reigns/credibility for a moment:

I fundamentally reject the notion that long title reigns are the primary way of building interest/credibility in a title. Or that there is even something innately credible or interesting about a long title reign. I think we can find plenty of examples throughout history of long reigns that didn’t do much for the belt or anyone involved. Hell, there’s one going on right now in AEW with Jade and the TBS title, which nobody has given a shit about in at least 6 months.

Like, nobody would care about how many International title defenses OC had made if they weren’t MOTW/Y-caliber and often setup with unconventional angles that felt different from your standard midcard title stories.

I’ll even take it a step further and maybe hit some toes in the process: Roman hitting 1,000 days as champ is a meaningless statistic that has no effect on anything. What has made that FEEL like a big deal right now is that, for the past 8 months, he’s had great protagonists with compelling stories (Sami and Cody obviously, but I’d throw in Drew for the Wales match, too) that fans desperately wanted to see win the title.

What builds a title’s credibility is having strong challengers, compelling stories, and hot matches. And you can have all that with the title bouncing around a bunch.

I definitely have my quibbles with some recent TNT title booking (namely QT’s involvement with Hobbs), but in general, I think this Clash of the Titans era of super heavyweights trading the belt back and forth (with a bit of Darby the giant slayer mixed in) has been great and revitalized interest in a belt that has been kinda dead since…well, Sammy’s reign.

To your last point, I love the rapid fire TNT title reigns because it shows the champ can lose, every match is a fight against these titans.

This was a weird show.  There were some good things on here but a lot of questionable booking shit to go with it.

Hobbs never had a real run with the TNT belt and to be honest that belt doesn't really mean shit right now.  It's changing hands every other week for months now.  Hobbs didn't gain a damn thing from winning it and then being saddled with QT.

The Pillars segment in the opening was garbage.  Sammy and Jungle Boy cannot hold anyone's attention in a 15-minute promo.  The whole tournament makes no sense either. Why is Darby getting a bye.  If he makes it through to the PPV, ok cool.  You had an easy road.  If he doesn't, he looks like a goof.

I enjoyed The Elite and BCC stuff with Takeashita coming out and saving them.

I also liked the Jay White vs. Kommander match.

There was one really great thing about the Hobbs/Wardlow match. It gave a final resolution to The Factory storyline.

You could theoretically get a bit more value out of something like Battle of the Belts though?

Battle Of The Belts, the once a Quarterly Time of year where the Elite of Dynamite and Collision collide to do battle for their belts!

...are the ratings charts I post not labeled sufficiently or something?

Did you think the chart labeled "AEW Dynamite" with the dates and times was actually just delayed Seinfeld ratings from 1997?

I don't ramble on for no reason to explain what doesn't need explaining, sorry - people have said they appreciate me posting the charts here since they're paywalled elsewhere.

I for one like the ratings posting, it's nice to see how the numbers go and support my theory of Jeff Jarrett getting the highest.

Tay is determined to get an angle dammit. You can only drown your sorrows at Dave and Busters so many times

It was in reference to Cutler quote tweeting the Deadline tweet of "CM Punk is Gaslighting AEW" with someone gets it.

AEW as of a couple months ago was going to start running Saturday house shows, but then Tony showed up to the first one and it was filmed

If Tony can't even let Jarrett run house shows without micromanaging them, then you might as well sell the Saturday shows to television

It was filmed because it set up an angle on the following Dynamite. Hard to say he's micromanaging with just the one under the belt.

Supposedly, from what I can glean from Tony on What Happened When, this is just a vehicle for the blonde chick. They believe she will be a star.

Perhaps when Hobbs is done with Wardlow, they'll move Hobbs against someone with a manager to get her over as well.

  12. You guys have too many opinions about Silas Young, let's talk Luchasaurus instead.

Where do you see him slotting into? His feud with Jungle is thankfully over (we can hope) and he's sticking with Christian managing him. Could be in line for one of Orange's IC shots?

Andretti is not my pick for Darius' partner. I would have gone with contrast. It's tricky because we don't know Tony's plans, but ... maybe Shane Taylor, right? A mentor deal where he's pushing Darius in some dubious directions and then when Dante comes back, it comes a whole thing.

Seems like they could've fallen back to Darius and AR Fox honestly.

Is there a storyline reason for Mark Briscoe teaming with Lethal et al on Rampage that I missed?

Battle of The Belts last week had Lethal approach Mark and say they should look out for each other and Mark agreed but was surprised when Jarrett and Co swarmed him and welcomed him to the group.

I think the car thing would have been fine if they had introduced the car more than five minutes before it got destroyed.  At least show him driving up in it at the beginning of the show or something.

Also my favorite part of the show was MJF selling his increased frustration with every pompom Sting threw at him.

They showed the car was bought last week during the QTV segment, but it should've had a little more build I agree

Is this whole Bullet Club Gold thing by Jay White and maybe Tony Khan mocking the concept of Bullet Club knowing that it has jumped the shark and is barely relevant anymore.  I mean there are 3 version of the Bullet Club now (New Japan, IMPACT, and now AEW).   I am sure there is an indie that has a bunch of people claiming to be Bullet Club.

I just think it's because AEW's color scheme has Gold therefore differentiating it from other BC groups rather than mocking the concept, and wasn't White exiled from the current BC in NJPW? It'd make sense he starts his own offshoot since you are Bullet Club for life.

That being said, I hope Jeff Jarrett joins up, really cement the Silver and Black nWo vibe
