  1. While I don't think it will help his chances of getting a work visa regardless, it should be pointed out his prison sentence is suspended. But he'll still have a felony on his record which is why getting a work visa will be either impossible or near-impossible, not sure which.

The girl's mother received a ten year sentence for trafficking the daughter which.... I am not overly familiar with the finer details of the case so I'm not saying that is wrong but it is s heck of a discrepancy between the sentences.

  2. Dominick Mysterio vs. AJ Styles has been cancelled as Dom is "injured." The tin foil hat part of me thinks that Styles just doesn't want to go to Saudi Arabia due to the issues going on there after what happened years ago when the flight got delayed by a day. He was one of the ones more vocal at the time about not being happy so I could see him saying "no thanks" with the latest iffy situation.

I fully expect the show to still go on unless something really big happens that makes it impossible.

  3. Only thing I'd like to see on the card added is a crazy spotfest match. Firstly, because I like crazy spotfest matches. Secondly, those types of "car crash" matches are sometimes a nice breather between drama/story heavy matches. Like a four way tag team ladder match, something like that. Doesn't have to go crazy long, just some casual fun to get a break between the more serious stuff. I think we've luckily now phased out the "diva match" from 20 years ago as the breather match but a spotfest match can have the same effect and be a nice change of pace.

I guess my next question is what happened to Britt Baker?  Injured again?  Cole got AEW in the split?  Going to WWE and parked in catering until her contract runs out?

We can only theorize. The last time she was on TV she was telling Serena Deeb nobody cares about her while she was trying to cut a promo to build a match between them that never ended up happening (her last run was after the Cole split so I don't think the two are connected unless there was an unreported backstage incident). So either its backstage heat, TK just prioritizing more talented wrestlers, Britt wants to focus on being a dentist, who knows. I'd be surprised if WWE was but too interested due to her age, injury history, and being a mediocre wrestler but hard to say. Either way I'm not sure we will see her in AEW again.

Help me out with this. I remember JJ Dillon over turning Lex's Title win over Hogan because the paperwork was filed in time or something. Did Lex's title win count officially and I'm misremembering something?

Tapping my memory here but I think the "paperwork" storyline was that it was going to be Luger vs. Hogan at Road Wild but someone messed with the paperwork on Nitro so the match was announced as TONIGHT live on Nitro instead. So the paperwork thing was more a way to hotshot the title on Luger for the pop and to increase (in theory) interest in the re-match at the PPV.

How is that only a $250 fine, pretty sure in VA you are getting slapped with a lot more then that as a punishment for going 40+ over.

I had to look it up as I felt crazy, in Virginia "Reckless driving crosses the mark from traffic infractions to a criminal charge, so it is a Class One misdemeanor. Class One misdemeanors come with a maximum fine of $2,500 and the possibility of jail time for up to 12 months" and minimally they make you go to a court date over it.

  7. I've been watching baseball for 30+ years, I've never seen a balk called because the catcher used his mask to gather a ball after a wild pitch/passed ball. And he didn't need to, just absent mindedly did it. Coach didn't argue.

  8. I'm mostly surprised its Gunther as I am having trouble seeing Goldberg get him up for the Jackhammer. Gunther is a big dude and Goldberg was struggling with it four years ago, now he could do it on a smaller wrestler I am sure but Gunther will be a challenge. If Gunther had a smaller lackey I'd say he can hit it on him just for the pop but he doesn't. So we'll see how that goes, I imagine he wants to hit the move in his retirement match but seems like a risk.

The Bengals first round pick left mandatory minicamp with a contract dispute.  Apparently, they are trying to put language in his contract that would allow them to void guaranteed money.  This is the type of shit that never happens these days, because the terms of rookie contracts are essentially all spelled out in the CBA.  Never change Mike Brown.

While that is what the Bengals are doing, its not something they made up as other rookies have signed similar deals in recent years. Xavier Worthy for example has similar language in his per reports although I don't know if any reporter has done a full look at every rookie contract to see how often it is done since before now no player had made a big deal about it. Course, its optional language but there probably are players that have the "I'll sign it as I won't get in trouble anyway" mindset. Not that I disagree with him not wanting to sign it, the Bengals shouldn't have let it get to this point.

Take out Wembley, I'm sure there's a lot - off the top of my head, Bull Nakano has done all three. I'm sure there's more. I was kind of shocked to learn Toni Storm never did MSG, but that would make sense given that she was called up right before the pandemic I believe?

Mostly bad timing, I was curious and looked it up and she was with WWE and on SmackDown when WWE went to MSG in September 2021, but while she happened to wrestle on the week after she didn't on the MSG show. So that was her one shot.

  11. In a "how the fuck does this happen" story that seems to not be being pushed by ESPN etc. at the moment, the AP tabulated the points wrong for last year's end of year awards, by double counting one ballot and not counting another one altogether. Their solution was after the fact (and telling no one) was to remove the double ballot but not actually include the ballot that was excluded (Dungy's) so now the vote is out of 49 instead of 50. None of the winners changed but Allen did now win by slightly more since the removed ballot voted for Jackson.

  12. The main reason I don't think its a work, besides all the reports and general common sense, is Carlito and Valhalla were released/not renewed last week also. It would be beyond cruel, even by WWE standards, to "fake release" one wrestler and real release two other wrestlers at the same time, and not tell the dozens of other wrestlers/personalities that went online to say how sad they were about Truth to trick them too. I'm curious to see if this is a long term or short term pivot but I was happy to see Truth back.

The MITB matches are always interesting as the men usually do *more* (more fun spots, more dangerous spots, more mouse trap spots) but the women's match was more unpredictable and at times chaotic, plus it didn't have the interference. I probably enjoyed parts of the men's better but as an overall package preferred the women's. Not that it makes me some incredible psychic but I did guess all the match results right, but a swerve just to do a swerve isn't a good idea and heels with briefcases is easier to book. The main event wasn't good but I did enjoy the drone spot and Truth's return so it wasn't a waste either.

Oh, imagine being one of those folks last night.

Imagine you were up at midnight to pre-order the Switch 2. You waited months for the official launch day. Then you waited again in line at midnight to be one of the first to pick it up and play the new Nintendo hardware. But as you open it, the long-awaited moment of joy turns to horror as you find that someone stapled the receipt for the Switch 2 to the box and now you have holes in the screen. That’s what happened to some unlucky GameStop customers last night.

Sounds like it just happened at one store likely by an employee with no idea what they were doing, but its still surprising to me that Nintendo had the screens so close to the top of the box that a staple going through the outside could damage it. Seems like it would be susceptible to other damage too but no widespread complaints so I guess it was impact resistant and just not staple resistant.

I have a bad feeling Jon Moxley beats Hangman Adam Page at All In for Darby Allin to end the reign of terror at WrestleDream in Darby's Seattle hometown. Ironic as that's when the Reign of Terror started and doing what should have been done a year earlier, Allin retiring Bryan Danielson.

I think match order will tip their hand a bit. I don't think they'll end their biggest show of the year with the same ending we saw in other PPVs this year, with Mox finding a new way to cheat to win, it would just be deflating. Double or Nothing was highly rated/thought of partially because it didn't end with a wet fart. If the match goes last, I think Page wins. But if they announce anything else as the main event, like Mone/Storm, I'd start getting a little nervous.

I refuse to use build guides for games (one of my gaming quirks, also why I'm bad at Path of Exile) so even though I knew there were great builds I never looked them up. I tried to find good combos on my own though and I think by end-game I had a pretty good strategy, I don't think I died the last couple stages which I can't say is true for some of the mid-game stages.

Quoting myself just to make it clear I'm not judging anyone for how they game. For the longest time I refused to look up anything for games but I broke that rule with FromSoft (I do it selectively but I do look up things sometimes in their games). And if I get super stuck at a dumb puzzle in a game for more then ten minutes I'll look it up on youtube just to move on to the next thing. But I usually try to avoid game-long help, like builds or "the best path to take" type stuff. But everyone games different, never any judgement from me.

Just to show I'm not better than anyone else haha on one mid-game boss in Clair Obscur I knocked it down to Easy. I had been battling the boss for 30+ minutes and it reached beyond the frustration stage and I didn't want to rage quit the game so I adjusted the difficulty, beat the boss, and then put it back. I think I'd do better at the boss now that I got better at the game in general but at the time the frustration wasn't worth it. So do what ya gotta do to have fun.

  17. I don't want to sound like I am defending WWE or sounding anti-worker but I think there is a big difference between firing someone mid-contract and not signing a new contract when the current one expires. Independent contractors and "independent contractors" sign contracts and they expire and they move on in jobs across the country every day, its a common thing and not something that I see as automatically bad. Both sides lived up to what they signed, if Truth or Abadon were both wanted back by their promotions but they opted to not re-sign once their contract expired for any reason it wouldn't be any different to me, they are free agents that can do whatever they want at that point. But that goes both ways.

Now cutting someone mid-contract is a dick move and I'd feel that way about either promotion, but I can't see a company as being evil for fulfilling a contract and deciding not to do another one. That doesn't mean it's a good idea - if Truth was really well liked and a solid hand I'm not saying they shouldn't have signed him again, I just don't see it as some ruthless move, both sides knew the contract was expiring.

  18. I'm one of those fools that gets Madden every year *ducks tomatoes* so I am very cautiously optimistic this year as they are claiming Franchise Mode has been worked on. Franchise Mode is the main mode I play as I'm not big on the MUT or online play, and Franchise Mode has had a long list of issues for a long time. I'm not expecting it to be perfect but any improvement would be appreciated.
