  1. You know how HBK was roided out of his gourd in the 90s but was still an amazing worker? Then he came back after losing his smile, was born again, had gotten clean and was significantly smaller but he was still HBK so you could still buy him against guys like Taker etc.

Well, Adam Cole is like the reformed clean HBK, just without having done the 90s era to give him enough history to be that believable. He shouldn't be going move for move with anyone over 200lbs. In his matches, he needs to play the Jerry to the Tom a bit more.

And I think THIS is potentially confusing to the uninitiated because if Nigel is a heel, why is he criticizing someone who ostensibly a fellow heel? (Danielson is about the hardest heel-leaning tweener possible if you want to look at it that way, at least.)

His hate for Bryan transcends Heel/Face boundaries.

If Eddie wasn't feuding with Bryan there's no way Nigel would be cheering him on. If Eddie goes into a feud with Christian after this for example I think you'd see a Heenanesque pivot in Nigel's opinion of him. It's all because he hates Bryan.

  3. I'm a big fan of "bad but fun" movies, so I'm probably not the best judge, but I've liked Rock's whole career pretty much, Doom & Southland Tales both mentioned above are standouts for being something different from what he normally does. Shit, I'd even rewatch Scorpion King as a guilty pleasure.

Having said that, when he was getting started and Schwarzenegger had that passing of the torch cameo moment in The Rundown, there was this expectation that he would be the next Arnie. But really he's never once matched the peaks of Arnie's career. There's no Terminator, no Predator, hell there's not even an equivalent to Twins, Junior or Jingle All The Way.

Maybe this heel turn in wrestling may also work as a creative spark in his film endeavours. I'd love to see him as a bad guy on the big screen as we know he can do it so well in wrestling.

  4. I am about as far from being a mountaineering expert as you can get, living in the flatlands of England, so I don't know if this is against the laws of physics. But I had this idea that a dastardly heel should hire a helicopter, land at Everest's peak wearing an oxygen mask and then hit Darby with a steel chair he brought with him. I shouldn't be hired by anyone.

  5. Two things stand out to me in this story:

First, this was in 2020, this isn't "historical" abuse, this was wrinkly old dyed hair Vince. Imagine him during the attitude era and tell me there aren't a million other stories waiting to come out.

Second, with the involvement of Laurinitis and other board members as well as potentially some well-known wrestlers too, this could be the unravelling of WWE. You have to think after working with him for 20+ years, a lot of people would know about this side of Vince. If HHH knew, so did HBK, If Taker knew, so did Michelle, if Cena knew, so did Nikki, if Nikki knew, so did Brie, if Brie knew, so did Bryan. (And that's without the whole Laurinitis-Bellas connection) This thing snowballs out massively and would literally take decades to explore fully.

  6. WWE is locked behind paywalls in the UK of either BT TV or the WWE network, + PLEs are extra and extortionate. With this change, a lot more eyeballs will be on WWE product in the UK. And I'm sure this will be a similar story in many other countries. Tony Khan will need to respond by getting better TV deals and slots in those countries for AEW or their impact and momentum will be considerably lessened by this change.

Has Nigel improved a lot or something? I've been watching some NXT starting pre-pandemic and into it, and the improvement in commentary when Wade Barrett takes over for Nigel is massive.

Funny because I can't stand Wade and his fake TV accent. I'm loving Nigel's heel commentary, it's almost Heenanesque, Schiavone works as a decent Monsoon for him too on the rare occasions they've worked together. Maybe Ricciaboni can fill that spot if he decides to go full-time. And hopefully, we soon see Nigel against that Clamdigger Brittle Bryan Danielson one more time.

  8. I love Butcher because he was old as shit before he even got into wrestling, which I give massive respect to.

As for my dislike of Juice, he just hasn't connected with me yet and BCG as a group just doesn't butter my crumpet. It just takes time with some people to find their groove. Kind of like a foreign footballer coming into the Premier League, takes them a season to figure out how things work. Swerve had this for me and now I love his tricky/smooth wrestling ways.

To be fair it was really hard to get to 10 I dislike, which speaks volumes to how talented AEW's roster is.
