  1. Who is producing the women's matches for AEW? Because I for one think whomever needs a big raise.  I heard Tony on Busted Open talked about Anna Jay, how she was on the initial small crew in Jacksonville post COVID and that really helped her develop.

And Johnny was awesome last night as her second/valet

  2. Said often - the hour format for Rampage works. I was not sure if Jade/Anna Jay live would not be really bad.  Both at times get a little lost in the ring. But it was a good match, far better than I expected.  The only problem is Jade hit her finisher and she was not facing the camera. Which has done before actually (back to the lost thing). But her look is out of this world - my best comparison is a female Rick Rude.  When Jade walks out, you looked at her and are like wow.

Not only was this match great, it is one of the better garbage brawls I've seen in a long ass time.  We get a lot of these type of matches, but this one actually felt like it was a worthy blow off for a heated rivalry.  The blood absolutely added to the match as it made it feel like all 4 women were willing to put it all on the line to beat their opponents.  We just got a street fight between Eddie Kingston/Santana/Ortiz and Daniel Garcia/2.0, and it fell flat to me.  It really felt like just another in a series of matches.  The 4 women in the TayJay vs. Bunny/Ford really went out there and bumped all over the place, bled, and made me care about their match.  If putting on matches that make people care is bad for the business, the business is doomed.

WWE and AEW are just in different businesses these days - WWE sees itself in the context of generating content like a Hollywood studio or a Netflix. AEW wants to be in the pro wrestling business, creating pro wrestling content for TV and social media.  The sharp contrast continues to grow every week; the reboot of NXT, which was a pro wrestling company at one time, only shows it more.

I loved the TajJay vs. Bunny/Ford feud, and the 4 way street fight.  Every woman came out of that feud stronger - which is a truly well booked angle. Whomever is booking the females in AEW (Dustin?) is really doing some great work.

Fightful is reporting that Cody is a free agent and working without a contract right now while he’s the TNT champion.

Interesting with Cody on The Big Show as well.  Very Interesting TL put the title on Cody - he must believe a contract is being signed soon

Nevermind that we're in a pandemic, they ran Greensboro, Charlotte and Raleigh in a 5 week period. They really should've found another Markey for Battle of The Belts so it wouldn't have taken away from the Raleigh show's numbers.

Raleigh and Charlotte are really different markets; Greensboro is the one place that back in the day people from the Carolinas would travel to. It sits essentially half way between Charlotte and RDU. I always found interesting that JCP, based in Charlotte for years, had the biggest cards in Greensboro - granted the Greensboro Coliseum was the biggest coliseum in NC.

Where has AEW not been that is traditionally pro wrestling strong holds in the US? Memphis, Houston,  New Orleans, Baltimore, Philly - given the PWG surprised So Cal.

I literally just had a conversation with a friend about how we both saw that they were coming to DC, both picked up the phone to ask if they other wanted to go, before both of us realizing, "I ain't going to that shit during a damn pandemic."

Yeah and COVID spiked like crazy here in NC.  30% positive rate the other day.

Reynolds is a really cozy place now that it's been re-made, actually kind of small. Saw the high school 4a boys basketball game there in 2019 and it was amazing place with all of its history.

Here in Charlotte they have run Bojangles, which for reference is the OLD OLD Charlotte Coliseum - the one you would see in JCP say from the late 70s timeframe.  It seats 9k or so for wrestling. Great old place, and perfect for AEW.  WWE runs the new downtown coliseum BTW.  Frankly, I am not sure what to make of attendance numbers at this point for indoor sports - it was wild to see UCLA play at home last night against Oregon with no fans (circa 2020), then turn the channel to see Gonzaga playing a home with looked like a full house up the coast in Oregon.

Me - just here to enjoy some different and good pro wrestling (for the most part).

Also, Jungle Boy has turned into a credible babyface promo. Night and day difference from a year or so ago. Good on ya, JB.

AEW's willingness to grow talent, young talent is the real good stuff. CM Punk let Wardlow throw him around - Wardlow came out of the match so strong.

Oh yeah, that Brody video also reminded me of Julia Hart wearing black now. It's on. The black mist corrupts. Let's go.

I noticed her wearing black jeans, and the eye patch.  I was wondering if tonight she aligned with Black

Punk-Wardlow certainly featured some odd choices.  Wardlow (who routinely losss his big matches) destroys Punk to the point that he clearly had the biggest draw in the company pinned with one boot?

I thought we would see the Wardlow snap tonight; It would have been really good tonight and I wonder if they have not overplayed this one out. Wardlow is so ready..

We know Jake is not well - is Archer solo?

    Page vs. Danielson: 4.75.

Lucha Brothers vs. Jurassic Express: 4.25.

I'd go ***** for Page vs. Danielson and I didn't like Lucha Brothers vs. Jurassic Express at all. The latter might be an unpopular opinion. Felt like the timing of both was off at times, Lucha Brothers reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions was a letdown and the wrong team ended it. #FTR should have. My second choice, Santana and Ortiz.

I could not agree more. The spot where they we are all holding hands - it was cute, right out of CMLL's greatest hits but it made me just lose interest. Getting the belts on JE is the right thing if it only means FTR gets them soon.

I enjoyed Page vs Danielson a ton; it reminded for a early 80s Harley Race title match.

  10. I looked at my watch at 8:50 as they we wrapping up the Punk-MJF segment and said to myself, main that could be the best 2 segment hour of pro wrestling I have seen on TV in a long long time. Punk getting the DQ was perfect way to get into MJF. Hangman-Danielson - I was shocked with the double juice, and Danielson was gushing. Great match and it totally helps Hangman.

and then the next hour well. Jade got lost a couple of times frankly. There was one spot towards the end that was rather painfully awkward. Fenix - he could just not stay well and that injury looks bad. As soon as I saw it, my first reaction was not good. I called a title switch (9mainly as Lucha has just not been able to perform all that often). I liked the teams all coming out at the end as it shows the absolute death. I hope JE gets a decent run, but FTR needs a run.

Maybe you should realize that people who have differing opinions are allowed to have their opinions too without you feeling like they are policing your thoughts.  If you want to care about who some 20 year olds are dating, that's perfectly fine.  I'm 40, so I understand how fickle I was when I was their age with my dating life and I can't judge those people when they aren't doing anything I wouldn't have done in the same situation.  My mom told me something when I was very young, "your life choices are up to you, not me, not your friends, not anyone else."  Sammy can fuck the entire locker room as long as it's consensual, that's his life, he gets to do what he wants with it.

I cringe to think of living my 20s in the social media world. Not all progress is great for all of society

Clicked that Twitter link, read down & saw Sammy/Tay post. That’s cool but what the fuck was that whole proposing on national television thing all about in the autumn? Wow

A whole lot of personal stuff that I don't have any business knowing, except that realizing that actively choosing to put you personal life on social media sounds great until things go sideways and it creates unneeded drama if you are high profile.  Life is hard enough - but that is their choice. Not condoning all the internet trolls at all but the whole glass house thing fits too.

Penelope really had no idea what she was doing in that submission match. ?

This is why I had her rated lower - that match was really painful to watch at times.

I can't either but I thought same about Bayley and look what she's done.

Tay turning heel with Sammy as smarmy, arrogant characters could work. Anna Jay has been purposely been a tough figure in the Dark Order, but unless you tirn part of the Dark Order not sure that happens.

I think you're vastly underrating Penelope Ford. After he last few matches I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up the best of this group. Anna Jay is #4 as she is the biggest work in progress,  but the top 3 is really close in my eyes. I think Tay Conti is really talented and always improving, but she's 3rd. Penelope is second. The Bunney is my easy #1.

I might be overrating Tay as she is so easy on the eyes, but I am clearly not seeing Penelope the same. And thats's ok - talk about a subjective criteria. Not sure I can remember two set of true tag women tag teams in a long time in the US like this. WWF had the some of the Japanese teams over. The current WWE tag teams never seem to have this true well booked program. Where do they go for here with all 4? Bunny has really shown through for sure - her work on Friday night was stellar.  The visuals of her and her ability to find the camera so well - true modern pro wrestler.  Not female - just a pro.

Been some great stuff, well booked and for the most part all of the one on one matches have worked. For one, the heels always got their heat back even when the lost going into the Death Match, and the Death Match was well paced and worked.

Yeah, I want to be clear that I'm not trying to shit on Anna Jay for taking advantage of her opportunities or even saying that I don't understand why she's been given those opportunities.  Kelly Kelly was pushed because she was an attractive white woman, and never really learned how to run the ropes.  That isn't Anna, she's been working her ass off to improve and it's paying off.

Kelly Kelly is a great analogy - she was drop dead gorgeous but yeah she couldn't go in the ring. Ironically, Kelly Kelly in some ways marked the beginning of the ned of the "Divas" WWE world.

Here is what I keep seeing - of the 4 women in the match the other night it was to me - Tay, Bunny (who is really surprisingly good in the ring), then Anna or Penelope. I give Tay a slight bump over the Bunny, but man the Bunny is just plain fun stuff.  Anna can get lost in there but man she worked so hard in the match.

I feel that the best case scenario for Anna Jay is she and Tay Conti end up the female equivalent of the Rock N Roll Express or the Rockers. Then at some point one of them turns heel, they feud, and ignites her career. I can definitely see a Barbershop moment happening, but it has to be WAYYYYYY down the line. Not the WWE thing of they tag for 6-12 months and then it happens.

I was thinking the same thing other evening - who do you turn? Do you split Anna of from Dark Order with her I think RL boyfriend Jungle Boy? I think Tay could be the better heel but Anna could also make it work and it may actually help her character. What a delightful problem to have.

I mean, if we get a lot of Anna Jay in the looks department women who can wrestle I think we should start a fucking rainbow coalition.

Wrestling has always been right place, right time - Anna Jay joining the Dark Order helped gave her more exposure for sure; the recent tag team battle has totally helped her too. Who knows where she ends up - WWE has had many really good looking women who never got the same chance. Run with it kid, it's a stupidly fickle business.

Maybe the local version. TBS The Superstation has been pumped out of my cable since we regularly got it in the Naughties.

Back in the 80s it was TBS that really leveraged cable forever. TBS meant Braves baseball, Georgia Wrestling on Saturday night and Ted tuner's favorite movies playing it felt like weekly. Had TBS one way or the other since I was in 7th grade in 1980. And yeah USA then had the MSG WWF cards. And then Southwest wrestling on Sunday
