  1. Japan used to have beer vending machines everywhere. They automatically turned off late at night. They were in every train station and at random places with the rest of the vending machines. They have been mostly pulled in Tokyo. I think that they are only in front of liquor stores and in hotels now. I remember buying a half gallon jug of beer out of a machine. I guess that the old answer to the question of "can't underage kids buy beer from them?" of "they're not allowed to" really wasn't true.

  2. No Strong Zero in the USA. $10 and up to get from Japan on ebay. That is a huge mark up from under $1.50. Sangaria brand 6% Chuhai is the only one available in the US as far as I know. There is one other that is labeled as chuhai, but is actually a flavored malt beverage.

Is Zima in Japan some delicious recipe while in the west they pedal drain cleaner as it?

No. They are a sponsor. That was the only alcohol available at New Year Dash. Japanese don't like it too. I brought two beers in to the show in my camera bag. A bunch of people asked me where the beer was being sold, pissed off at the only Zima situation.

I mean, plenty of heels kept the same gimmick & character throughout their career, and basically the fans decided they liked them so they became de facto babyfaces despite retaining their heel personality. The Rock, Roddy Piper, Cactus Jack, Sandman...

Sandman started out as a babyface surfer.

Sheik was brought in as a secret weapon by Pat Tanaka in ECW against Kevin Sullivan and Taz. I think that Dusty might have done the same. I also think that he was face at some point in the dying days of Detroit out of desperation.

  5. The match should have ended with Hardy smashing his head on the concrete. I've always felt that the old time reaction of ignoring injuries and continuing the match was opposite of the old time kayfabe. When someone gets injured, they should not hide it. They should sell it and finish the match to show that wrestling is real and they can get hurt at any time.

In Hogan’s case doesn’t he own the rights to the Hulk Hogan name anyhow? I know he was able to have a different company release action figures of him despite WWE having a deal with Mattel.

Plus the figures (if I’m not mistaken) were released at a time when he was no longer under a WWE legends or performer deal.

Marvel had and might still have an agreement that they got a cut of all Hulk Hogan merch. Whoever came up with Hollywood Hogan saved much money in royalties.

Was the Island Death Match edited? I can't imagine it was shown live

The match time was 2 hours 5 minutes 14 seconds. The VHS shows the entire match plus arrivals by boat. Inoki did not come out of his tent/locker room for about the first hour of the match. Whatever was shown on TV had to be edited, of course. The VHS actually has a Fuji TV logo on it, but no mention of Asahi TV. It was just a lot of laying around in holds. Not cinematic to me.

  8. 10/1 is the day after the recently extended guidelines for attendance end. Also it is at an outdoor venue. My guess is that they will sell all of the seats.

The tickets have been split up between the companies. Marvelous has already sold out. Others have sold out of the most expensive tickets so far.

Being Japanese wrestling, the announcement of this cooperation also includes the announcement of Hotta's new promotion, T-HEARTS. There seems to be such a need for another company with like 3 wrestlers.

The only time that really had an effect on me is when I was watching Memphis TV as I had WMC-TV living in Northwest Mississippi. This wasn't the glory days, but it was great seeing Lawler hype up some match (that they were never shows clips of) on their local shows in Memphis, Southaven, MS, and some of the other places in the Mississippi Delta. He made it sound like some big time shit was going down when likely it wasn't.

There were times when the title change took place in multiple cities during the week before the TV. They never showed the clips so each town's fans thought that they saw the title change.
