  1.

You people are fucking miserable. The Rumble was fun.

Agree 100% I loved it, as did the people I watched it with. Reaction so far seems to be very positive....except on here.

By the way, I checked Meltzer's site to get their overall take on the show. Do they even use autocorrect or spell-check over there?

I liked the show just fine. Out of 15 things they got 13-14 of them on fleek and the most important thing of them all, they flubbed.

    So in other words, WCW?

  2. 2nd teams are ok in the following circumstances:

Expansion teams- the Dolphins were my first team as a kid.  Then the Panthers came along.

The first team does something so moronic so long that you give up on them.  Even then, you can't pick a rival.

    Moving

For College- you can never change your team unless you graduate from another school.  Even then it can't be a rival.   I shake my head at State folks who cheer for either of the blues.  That's just wrong.

  3. Have a job at the end of the year- I'm going to be laid off in August most likely.

BL88- SF5 will be easier to get good at than SF4.   They got rid of a lot of the stuff that wasn't really necessary and just added lab time instead of thinking.

One of my goals is to finally hit EVO this year.  This is my last chance (see above)

If you're in the LA or SF area, there are plenty of locals to get stomped on to improve.

  4. If guys are too small- they either won't get a main event run, or will break down quickly getting beat up by hosses.

I often wonder if Bryan had been ace of the cruisers in a modern WWE if he would still be around today.

If you need to promote a guy, you can just have him challenge someone to get respect or "bulk up" to heavy if they're close like Rollins.

BTW Rollins would be a cruiser under WCW standards, but he's billed at 217 in WWE (think WWE limit was 215, I'd put it at 200 now like boxing)

The big thing is you'd have to do it like Japan and keep the cruisers away from the heavies.   At worst it can fill up one of the three hours of RAW with more meaningful and faster-paced filler.

  5. It's in the best interest of Gable/Jordan to stay together as long as possible. Gable is super tiny (smaller than Bryan in height and mass) and Jordan will be neo-Shelton on Raw. Together, they both shine and look like stars. I don't see NXT breaking them up anytime soon as they're trying to do for tag team wrestling what they did with women's wrestling.

Folks like Gable who can carry storylines, but won't ever get the main event run due to size, is why I support a Cruiserweight belt- as long as they get a 10-15 min opening or midcard match on PPV's and good amount of time on weekly TV that's good enough for me.

That's where folks like Neville, Gable, Balor , Ziggler belong.

  6. you guys should look into Endless Legend if Civ 5 isn't hitting the nervous system anymore

    I'd suggest Sorcerer King personally.

as for the games mentioned above- heard the most good about Pillars and Vran.  Mount and Blade 2 hits next year I think.

Also Civ VI is supposedly next year- I suspect it will continue the even civs taking the concept of the odd civs and making the game good that the series traditionally has.

  7. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was the best game of the series, in it's original form.

Also, another thing to note is that Mortal Kombat X's online has gone through major problems at various points to the point it was unplayable regardless of system for stretches. Also, once more, the story was significantly worse then MK 9's.

Also, MK: Deception was actually pretty damn fun, but nobody ever really gave it a chance due to lack of classic characters.

MK online has always been the worst of the major fighting franchises.  It's the only one that has never even been decent.

And MKX PC was complete garbage for me.  SFV PC has worked like a charm in the betas for the most part (minus some crappy load times)

  8. MK3 sucked, but UMK3 had a real following.

MKX gets a bad rep because of the "Warn a Brother" PC port, and standards for gameplay are higher now in general and NRS didn't catch up on the technical side of things.  That doesn't bother many people who play it for the story.

The late 90s was the death of arcades in America, and that combined with the death of SNK really hurt the fighting game genre as a whole.  The current revival of fighting games has been pretty well planned- the only thing that has suffered has been the 3D fighters.   Tekken has really declined outside of Asian arcades due to long delays and obtuse mechanics that haven't changed much in 15 years.

  9. Warhammer- I agree it's going to end up being epic awesome or epic flop.   I'm a little pessimistic on it- CA is very inconsistent- and they're due to lay an egg.

I did play the SFV Beta today- I like what I saw, but among SF fans it's going to be a polarizing title because they got rid of so much.    Also it's clear that they've got work to do engineering-wise, and about 4 weeks+ however old this build was before they go gold.  I expect a rough first week to month but something they'll recover from.

There also was a nasty glitch Xian discovered that needs to go as well, but that's doable.

  10. My top 3 for the year:

Sorcerer King - Basically a pretty good cross between a Civ game and a roguelike, with some nice humor splashed in

Freedom Planet- This is the true sequel to Sonic, with elements of Rocket Knight thrown in.   Great soundtrack, cringeworthy story mode is the only knock you can put on the game.  Also loads of cute.

Trails in the Sky SC- best JRPG of the MId-2000's, now in English on PC.  Play the original first (released 2 years ago), but this game is super awesome.  Falcom generally has been the best JRPG company for the past 10+ years, they just don't get the press.  They're the NXT to Square's WWE.

Honorable Mentions: Nuclear Throne, One Way Heroics Plus

  11. I think this entire discussion has been kinda pointless, but I'll say: I don't want Nia Jax to be Kong, I want Nia Jax to be Nia Jax. Her smiling because she knows her opponent is helpess beneath her is good. How often do we get a monster heel who can also be a cocky heel?

Big Show during his Smoking Giant phase.

As for Nia- could she work as a face?  I could see it.

As for Dash and Dawson , I want them on the main roster as henchmen for Steph.   They'd be a huge step up from J&J- have them on their first night injure Roman's knee and cause him to drop the strap later Sting/Rude style

  12.

Shouldn't Nia's theme be a bit more ominous instead of being whatever girl-power anthem she has now?

Also:  Why the smiling?  She's a heel.  Scowl and kill people.  Worked for Kong.

Nia Jax's biggest issue right now.  She doesn't know how to not be incredibly attractive.  She is a very good looking woman, who has a smile that lights up a room, but that isn't what you really want from your killer, monster heel.  Her character is supposed to be Godzilla terrorizing Tokyo, but that isn't what I feel while watching her.  OK guys, if you walk into a bar with all of the WWE women, and you had to pick which one to approach based purely on her body language, where does Nia Jax rank on the most approachable.  She looks like she wants you to like her, when her character shouldn't want you to like her.

That's a vibe I got as well, she just can't look mean.  She either needs a mask, war paint, or Asuka to hand her a collection of Dump Mastumoto and Bull Nakano matches.

  13. My favorite was Emma/Asuka then the tag match.   Both great.

Everything else was decent to good.

I really think Dawson and Dash need to get a team name and be brought in as assassins on the main roster.  (Hell, why not make them Masked Assassins- they could make it work)
