So many possibilities for Caster’s rap. The easy WWE release joke? A Steiner math reference perhaps? I bet Bowens could give a hell of a HE’S FAT

  2. I recently went back and rewatched Saul’s first appearances in Breaking Bad and he is waaaay sleazier than I remembered.

“you are killing me with that boo-tay”

I don’t think he’s even got close to that so far in the series.

His descent into full on sleazy Saul should be great to watch.

  3. I enjoyed the first episode. I loved how the scenes cutting back to Steven and he was in total WTF mode.

Its also the closest representation to getting blackout drunk I’ve ever seen on TV.  I’ve definitely woken up, wide awake, after a heavy night to not know what day it was, be chained to a bed, have a cute girl be pissed off at me and I have no clue why.  I sleep walk as well, especially when drunk and have woken up in weird places. So it definitely resonates.

For the record, I have never woken up after a night of drinking to find myself in a car chase down a narrow mountain road, at least as far as I can remember.

  4. My peeps - Danielson, Keith Lee, Powerhouse Hobbs, Penta Oscura, Andrade, Jade Cargill

(picked 6 as Danielson really doesn’t count at this point!)

Not my peeps - Adam Cole, Matt Hardy, ReDragon, Commentator Chris Jericho, Thunder Rosa

A lot of my dream matches have been covered already in the above lists.

Id like to see Shida do more, her and Deeb were great together.  I’d like to see the Dark Order kind of go their separate ways for a while, Grayson feels super under utilized, I think Reynolds is overshadowed by Silver, but I really like him and would like to see him do more.  The obvious one is Santana and Ortiz, they are great and I’d love to see them get a run at the belts.  A feud between them and FTR or The Briscoes would be outstanding.

If we're being objective there's really three Triple H's.

    Triple Triple H.

Regardless of anything else I think his place in wrestling will always be as one of the hardest working guys in the business.  He was rarely in anything other than spectacular shape in ring, somehow stayed clear of the demons of the kliq, poured a ton of time and energy into NXT.

My favourite Triple H thing ever is in (possibly season 1 of) Tough Enough and he is taking about intensity and back bumps.  It’s hilarious but frightening at the same time.

It's fun because you can just keep going back.  MPro was born out of the ashes of Hamada's ULL, which was heavily influenced by the time he spent in UWA in Mexico.

You could do one of those little domino/big domino memes where the little domino is "Francisco Flores gets tired of EMLL's shit" and the big domino is "Every match in 2022 has a tope in it" and while it wouldn't exactly be true, it wouldn't exactly be wrong, either.

That’s exactly it. Hakushi being on WWF superstars was my gateway to a different world!

  7. Someone mentioned Jinsei Shinzaki earlier. I was such a fan of Hakushi, in particular his matches with Bret, that when I first started tape trading he was one of the first guys I sought out. That led me to Michinokou Pro then Osaka Pro and onwards. In hindsight most of the modern junior heavyweight style was kind of born in those mid-late 1990s promotions.

I feel like Marufuji & Kenta then evolved a lot of that for Noah.

God I loved the early 2000s trading scene.

We probably had one ages ago but we should have a whole topic on best commentary lines.

I urge everyone to watch Summerslam 89.  Ventura was on fire from the opening match. He gave credit to the faces and the heels. He pointed out the Brainbusters weren't defending their belts because they hadn't won them when the contracts were signed.  Schiavonne looked dumb saying "well they could have added them to the contract later"  Jesse as most people would said "would you have done that"   I mean the guy was on fire the whole show.  Also the show as a whole is really fun to watch.

[Rowdy Roddy Piper has just pulled Jake "The Snake" Roberts off of Ric Flair]

Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan, Announcer : I never thought I'd say this, but thank you Piper. It's a kilt. It's not a skirt, it's a kilt.

    [Piper then nails Flair]

Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan, Announcer : You no good creep! You skirt-wearing freak! It's not a kilt, it's a skirt.

    - Listed on Bobby Heenan’s IMDB.  To be fair you could quote that whole match.

  9. Janela essentially got replaced with Eddie Kingston.  Both guys with hardcore indie fanbases coming in, both deserved a shot on a big TV show.  Eddie can do everything Joey does but much better and then some.

That said Janela / Sonny Kiss will always be a highlight of lower card / Dark AEW for me.

  10. So the race to become the first AEW triple crown winner just got a new contender with Scorpio winning the belt.

Omega, Page, Scorpio all have 2/3. Will be interesting to see who does it.  A title v title between Page and Scorp, and with that a triple crown win, would be interesting!

  11. I’d agree about Jarrett being far from the worst, from his early days through USWA, initial WWF and WCW he was largely very good and enjoyable.  Although I suppose it’s dependent on how much you like Memphis wrestling as that was always more his style.

It’s 1999 WCW onwards that sours it.  The decision to make him a main event guy, because Russo, seemed to unite wrestling fans against him in a way I don’t think I’ve ever seen since.  It generally carried on from then right through to his current GCW run (MMA Jeff excepted as everyone knows how great that was!)

As Conrad always reminds him, Jeff also has the unique position of being a member of the worst iterations of all time classic stables. Horsemen (debatable), Bullet Club, nwo.

My answers would be Tom Zenk or Paul Roma. Very similar in some respects, both great looking guys, always on TV & PPV’s over WCW and WWF through the 80’s and 90’s.  Neither were truly the worst wrestler in the world but they never done anything other than just kinda “be there”, often standing next to much better tag partners.  I must have seen every match they had during that period and can’t tell you one memorable thing.

  12. Jade’s outfit was great but reminded me so much of WCW’s Blood Runs Cold.

With Glacier previously being “all elite” during one of the battle Royale’s, and Jim Mitchell having made a brief appearance, we only need two new guys in the Mortis and Wrath gimmicks and we are good to go!

Happy to add "don't apologize for being late" to my list of weird Vince-isms.

I worked with a dude who strolled in late constantly, when Vince was telling that story it reminded me of him.  He never once apologised, would login at his desk and it never seemed to get brought up.

Then one day he got caught selling coke and pills and got removed from the premises.  I suspect our team manager might also have been a customer of his.

Vince was much cooler than that guy.
