After I re-watched it, I did get a chuckle out of the "I love you" like he was a rock star or something.

He sounded like The Simpsons squeaky voiced teenager at a high school battle of the bands.

Just occurred to me the potential for a full Straight Edge Society reunion is right there!

Added to YouTube two days ago. First time I've seen this in ages.

IWA:MS Punk was the most fun version of CM Punk we ever had.  He always seemed to enjoy himself there. Whether it was his Hero feud, commentating on the KOTDM or whatever. He always seemed to be having a good time.

TK kind of has that Ian Rotten spirit of ‘I’ll just book whatever I want and to hell with anyone else”.   I’m hoping that bodes well.

  3. In a ‘normal’ wrestling promotion, the obvious answer would be for Seth to say “I’m THE MAN of the house, so I’m here and she’s at home because That’s what I decided, so you won’t ever get to see her wrestle again”.

Becky returns at some point, says “I do what I want and I don’t need a man to tell me what to do”. Kicks Seth in the nuts. Massive pop.

Brock Anderson vs Malakai Black seems squashy squashy.

As it should be. Punch, punch, big spinebuster, done.  Welcome to spinebuster city.

Got to beat the NXT out of these guys

Sorry, my mistake, thought this was the RAW thread!

  5. The Cena promo was brilliant.

Boogs getting ejected while cutting a crazy guitar solo was brilliant, as was the Boogs / McAfee celebration!

Highlight of the night though was….

”I mean, who even begs for 100 grand”

”uh, someone who needs 100 grand”

I think I tell myself that Dynamite is my current favorite show, but I am often much more entertained by Smackdown.

That isn't *quite* true, he worked a few shows and as recently as 2018. But he decided he had been made a jobber and he didn't think it was really worth going somewhere like Impact. Though let's face it, it has hardly stopped Myers having a run.

Seeing David Young’s name on that link and was amazed to see him have matches as recently as 2019.

A real under rated gem of a wrestler. His NWA Wildside stuff was usually very good and he was fun in early TNA (often tagging with Elix Skipper).

I had quite a few Wildside tapes back in the day, Young AJ, Young David Young, Chris Harris, Abyss, Slim J. It was a fun promotion

  7. With all the recent developmental change chatter, is there any argument that OVW was the most successful version of developmental ever?  They produced so many future top stars in such a short period.

Or was a lot of that just down to recruitment? Did they just stumble upon a crop of blue chippers all at once?   Batista, Cena, Orton, Brock were all kind of “can’t miss” prospects to begin with based on their size and look alone.  Even most of the Mid card guys were excellent from the time.

I sort of understand their theory that you can teach wrestling, but you can’t teach size, which seems to be what they are aiming for.

New wrestling crossword up! Still working on finding someone with a bigger platform who's interested in doing something with these (Fightful's The Distraction podcast solved last month's crossword on a live Twitch stream, which was fun to watch); until then, I'll just keep posting them monthly on my Twitter.

38 mins 58 secs. Slowest I’ve been for a while! Tough one!

  9. listening to a podcast and the term “catch as catch can” came up.  I haven’t heard a wrestling commentator (maybe other than JR) use that term in forever.

When I was a kid I used to think “catch as catch can” was an area of Canada where that style of wrestling was invented.

    Catchascatchkan bordering Saskatchewan.

Id love a wrestler to use that as their hometown Catchascatchkan, Canada.

That would make a great reality TV show, Trips and Steph going to meet TV execs and getting disgruntled at not being recognised. H not understanding why they keep asking him about Guardians of the Galaxy, and Steph having to clarify her that dad didn't play Quarterback for the 85 Bears.

“We’re not saying you could be the next Dave, but we could see you as Dave’s best friend”

“Oh yeah, I could definitely see him as Dave’s best friend”

Random idea = Kevin Nash as Anthony Bourdain visiting wrestlers in their home town, just shooting the shit and doing stuff.  One segment a week.

I was disappointed when I found out Anthony Bourdain : Parts Unknown wasn’t a documentary about one of wrestling’s greatest destinations.

We really gotta irradiate this term "X-Pac heat". Waltman is the man. He had like one shitty six month run in X-Factor that sucked. 20 years later that shouldn't be what his legacy is. Just say "Go Away heat" instead. He deserves better.

It should be renamed “Uncle Kracker heat”.  The song was 9/10ths of the heat.

Honestly COVID probably isn't one of the 10,000 most deadly things that have ever entered his body so he should be fine.
