  1. So many wrestlers have had great stretches of 3-4 months this year but no one has been great ALL year in my opinion.

Roman, Britt and Kenny have generally been very good all year, in and out of the ring, but it feels like they only really wrestled once a month maximum.  Does a great 3-4 month spell of having 12 great matches equate to a year of 12 good matches?

Then there’s the likes of Moxley, Kingston, Edge, Sasha who have all been very consistent when I’ve seen them.

I’d argue Bryan’s body of work since joining AEW should be enough to see him top wrestler of the year polls, particularly, given the range of matches, opponents and consistency of match quality. It’s been a real highlight.

Where does one start with the Danhausen catalog?

I first discovered him in Beyond wrestling - uncharted territory season 2 where he had a few matches with / against Chris Dickinson & Pinkie Sanchez.  That was the first time I kind of “got” his in ring stuff.  I then went back and watched a bunch of his other stuff.  I don’t watch ROH so no idea if his stuff there has been decent but I would imagine so.

He can be purposefully formulaic in ring but it’s done so he can mess with expectations and do something else.  I quite like watching his matches.  He’d be a perfect frenemy for the Dark Order.

Just reading an article about the Newcastle United fan who collapsed at the ground the other day, wasn't expecting it to bring closure to the 'what kind of doctor was Tom Prichard' discussion from a while back.

That’s a fantastic find. Glad the fan in question seems to be ok.

I wonder what the most obscure wrestling namesake there is.  I’m sure there are thousands of Steve Austin’s, but I’d love for there to be a random dude named Zack Ryder or something that hates calling places.

Closest I ever got was a kid in school whose surname was Skinner.

"WWE books wrestler as unbeatable babyface superhuman, wrestling fans resent it and start disliking wrestler. Wrestler is booked to win all the time, be eternal Champion (or be above the belt if they don't have it) fans resent them more. Heels booked to face them get over as babyfaces because of it".

Not exactly a story we've only lived through once, is it?

Also known as McMahon’s first theory of wrestling relativity!

This was however superseded by Professor Poppa Pump’s theory on how Numbers can spell disaster for an opponent.

I believe modern day wrestling scientists are currently working on ‘18-49 Demo Theory’.

  5. I’ve never understood the “Andrade needs a manager” angle that both WWE and AEW have saddled him with.  He’s flat out one of the coolest looking wrestlers on either promotions roster.  Just subtitle his promos or let him be a silent badass, he’s already got that cool movie villain intensity.

On Charlotte’s possible AEW name, I vote for ‘Lady Spartacus’.  She would require to cut her hair obviously.

I don't know if "stable wars" is something  about which to look fondly, as least considering who were involved (NOD, DOA, Los Boricuas).

The only person who liked that era was Kurt Sutter who I’m fairly sure based Sons of Anarchy on that whole period.

The booker/promoter writes shit down in a notebook like he's running an efed in 2003. How much drama can there be?

I once won my efeds US title because the other guy didn’t turn in his roleplay in time.  Led to an epic 3 day meltdown on the fed messageboard and numerous AOL chat summits. It eventually led to the promotion splitting in two.  Good times.

I don’t like blood and guts

But I love it when they’re lengthily discussed

I tell my wife all the time. A horror flick can have as much blood and guts and I don’t flinch. (See the Evil Dead series).  Much like wrestling I’m kinda numb to seeing people bleed.

That said, the Saw / Hostel generation took that to a new level and the horror “flinch” was born in our house.

We realised a zombie bite pissing blood means nothing but a weird Achilles heel cut is fucking brutal

  8. Thoroughly enjoyed Brock and Adam Pearce recreating Clarence Boddiker and Robocop’s “it’s Dick Jones” scene.

If he had invoked Brocks secret prime directive then Brock would have left him alone.

”it wasn’t my fault Brock, I had no choice, it was Paul Heyman! Your a Brock!”

    ”yes, I am a Brock”

  9. If AEW ever did bring in Brawn Strowman Id only be happy if he was used as “Mega John Silver”.  Like Johnny Hungy goes under the ring with a giant mushroom, out pops Brawn for 30 seconds, destroys everything and goes back under the ring only for regular Silver to reappear.

I'd be excited if I was TK too...the Jags victory wasn't his only big triumph last weekend.

Now normally I’m not the kind of guy to backtrack on something I said 5 minutes ago, but check out this pirouette… I always believed TK was right.
