  1. I've been watching Full Gear 2021 in portions and the overall quality is just nuts. It's a bit much for one go, but watched over 3 or 4 days, it gives you 2-3 classic matches at one go and lets you appreciate them more. Ok, so it cost about two months of Network subscription, but nonetheless, this is like an extended Super-Takeover! So this is what it's like when you put some effort into your PPV product?

If they'd reversed things and had Hogan eliminate Sid and then Sid pitch a fit and pull Hogan out from outside the ring, that might've worked. But as it was done,Hogan just looked like a sore loser. Sid had been a total baby-face in the WWF, there was no tease of any dissention. Them editing the commentary and crowd noise on the TV recaps of the finish just made Hogan look even worse to the people who watched the PPV

I heard the altered commentary/crowd noise clip years after the fact, and it was hilarious. I was like, if you are lying about this, what else are you lying to me about? I was on the internet at that point, so the cat WAS out of the bag at that point, but still...

The 1992 Royal Rumble match turned 30 last month:

Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon are brilliant on commentary:

    • Heenan's "Dammit!" when Ric Flair enters at #3.
    • "It's not fair to Flair!"
    • "I have to apologise, I won't be my usual objective self."
    • "I'll never be bad again, just let Ric Flair win."
    • "Weasel yourself out, Ric."
    • "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" as Ric Flair becomes the new WWF Champion.

Not only that, but in fact: "I never thought I'd say this, but weasel your way out, Ric!" Gorilla: "Weasel your way out?" "Do anything!"

  4. As promised, I just purhased AEW Full Gear 2021 replay from FITE. I still need 4 more credits so I can get All Out 2021 as well.

...also, a question for anyone else using the FITE app. My replay is showing close caption/subtitles and it is really bugging me. Do you know if there's a way to turn these off? I couldn't find settings or whatever to get rid of them. Any idea? They are getting in the way of the action and giving me a literal headache.

WCW VHS weren't nearly available like WWF were in the UK. WCW Halloween Havoc 1990 was one of the few with WCW The Great American Bash 1990 and WCW Capital Combat 1990.

Yeah, I was able to order Capital Combat, Starrcade'90 and then Beach Blast'92 and Starrcade'92 from a UK mail order company that vanished by the time I tried to place a third order that would have included SuperBrawl III, HalloweenHavoc'91 and something else, I forget, since I ended up never getting them.

I was just about to ask "who the fuck eats ketchup with pasta" and now you have answered my question ? Seriously I have never heard of that anywhere, and this is a country where we put chili on top of spaghetti.

Yeah, don't look at me, but it was pretty much standard when I was growing up. All the other kids did it, and probably stuck with it when they grew up. Growing up, the only pasta that was generally available in stores was macaroni and spagetti, if you were feeling fancy. I mean, you propably could get the others from some special stores in bigger cities, but not where I grew up. Macaroni was mostly used for beef casserole (probably not beef, either). Ketchup was standard with that.

From a continuity standpoint, what has Goldberg done to even earn a Universal Title shot? He beat Bobby Lashley in his last match...so wouldn't that mean he should want to fight Lashley? I guess they didn't think about that before they threw the chamber match together.

I guess they could say that Goldberg is pissed off that he trained for Roman match at the first covid Mania, and since Roman pussied out of facing him then (and subsequently Goldberg had to face Braun whom he wasn't prepared for, and got, well "those hands"). Goldberg wants revenge for that, as well as the title back.

NXT 2.0 has been lots of fun lately...   Sue me.

It really has. Against all probability, it remains a good show. The freshness of new characters has taken the edge of the fact that 30% of the recent roster is now on AEW tv.

Major car accident.  Probably totaled.  I'm fine.  Hydroplaned on a bridge and did the full 180 into the barricade.  Thank god I didn't hit anyone.

Sounds scary af! I take it you were driving by yourself with no family members in the car? If so, that was a blessing. Good to hear you are ok. These things are always terrifying. Very few mundane things make me as anxious as driving, in general, so crashes are nightmare-fodder.

at the risk of talking about food outside of the February Wrestling thread (and also the risk of bumping this thread)

Mexico, the land of Al Pastor, is all-in on pineapple pizza. Also, Hong Kong likes everything.

Hong Kong is all like, "Anything is fine, we just don't want Chinese!" Also, I can't stand ketchup in anything, but a huge section of Finns will absolutely insist on ketchup with their pasta.

  11. Got 3 workouts in this week, doing bench and alternating a set of lat pulldowns with the resistance bands between sets. 280 being as high as I went, getting a one, then 2 with 275 and 3 sets with 264 getting 3-4 with each, then dropping 5 lbs per set and getting around 5 until I got down to 220 with went up 7 times and then 25 reps with 132.

    Tuesday's trapbar went like 5x419, 5x449, 4x471, 3x491, 4x449, 4x419

Thursday was just light and moderate curls and dropsets with kettlebells doing behind the neck overhead presses, but I did get 2x515 on the trapbar, since we found a way to add yet another 11 lbs. I also witnessed the other guy in the gym casually forgetting to use Versas and the belt and still doing 2x449 (then 4x491, 1x504 and 2x515 with the gear on). I can get 400 without Versas, but that's out of reach for me, at least for now. Also, I'm never without the weightlifting belt on in the gym, so I wouldn't just forget to put it on before a big lift.
