Gotta say I'm out of the loop on sociopathic/psychopathic behavior from Cena, though it wouldn't surprise me. I was a huge fan of his since his Prototype days but haven't seen much of his work since 2007 outside of some Manias and weekly shows in 2015/16 when I gave WWE another chance. Is there some shady stuff I missed out on? You know, besides the Vince dick riding which is already a deal breaker for me

The only thing that I can recall is him dating and dumping a bunch of women from WWE and not be willing to marry them or have children ever, as well as doing a bunch of underhanded stuff with coworkers (JTG and the not Matt Cardona of Edgeheads come to mind), but I'm not sure if that makes him any more sociopathic than your average WWE worker, so maybe others can help you out with this one?

Not sure what exactly was going on, but Claudio chucking that chair that ended up landing on Nigel was reckless and unprofessional.  Claudio has a rep about as good as it gets, so hopefully it was just a moment of carelessness that (hopefully) didn't injure anyone.

Yeah, that did look like "Get a fucking grip before there's a lawsuit"-moment. Luckily it hit a member of the roster instead of member of the audience if it had to hit anyone. But yeah, if you toss a chair with such force, you had better aim low, so things like that are avoided.

  3. Yeah, a hell of an episode of Collision as well!

Death Riders being sore losers at the beginning was something. Later on, people reminded them about it with a chant. Good. I guess that's a no on Elite Riders, then? Even better.

Kevin Knight with big win after getting his ass kicked a lot by Archer.

Megan Bayne looking very dominant, but at least the opponents knew the only shot they had was to attack immediately, and together. That was a good 2 seconds for them, after that, oh well...

RUSH and company squashed people, too.

Hah, Don Callis family looks completely different than last month, but he sure doesn't mess about when it comes to replacing members. Well, Trent is a return, not a replacement, but Callis seems to bounce back from adversity quite well. A lot like a cockroach.

The Adam Cole open was great in a couple of ways. First, it was Claudio instead of Yuta, so it was immediately a bigger threat and with the injury history of Cole you felt like he is in immense jeopardy and the title could change hands right here! Cole surviving with a counter pinning combination was good, and rest of his crew coming in to protect him right afterwards was even better touch.

Tony reading FTR's letter was good, if it leads to Nigel getting in the ring again, even better!

Nick Wayne wins the ROH tv title! Match was awesome and the crowds awesome chants at Nick made a high-brow humor enthusiast like myself all fuzzy inside! Wayne flipping the crowd off after the win was very much deserved, but great time was had by all.

Main event was very solid, crazy triple double suplex by Statlander and Toni Storm showing up here meant she will show up to every match that involves Owen participants still in the running, not just Mercedes (although she was there, too, yes). We'll know for sure during or after Hayter v Stat! Mini Mone making appearance until getting carelessly tossed (kicked) aside by Julia the Teenage Witch was another plus.

Pricochet's bald, y'all! Just in case the glasses fooled you, or something? This leading to Knight and Speedball vs Bucks was a twist I didn't see coming.

    Show was a blast, yes.

That may or may not be like saying I’ve heard ‘She Loves You’ and ‘I wanna hold your hand’ and then jumping to Double Fantasy and McCartney 2 to settle on an opinion of the Fab Four. To be clear, I like 2 and With Teeth, but not sure they rep the best of either’s work. The Reznor catalog from the Social Network forth feels better repped by his award winning and consistently strong score work. If we’re evaluating NIN it kinda centres, for me at least, on those first five years.

Sure, and it may or may not very much say that I don't really listen to NIN, in general. But I  figured that pointing out that my CD library is missing practically everything that is considered their (his) essential listening would have been enough of a clue, so I wouldn't have to point that out.

But since I like music, there usually is at least something from a worthwhile artist's discography in my past or present music library (excluding maybe 3 million bands, or thereabouts).

Can you tease Mercedes/Toni and then flip the script?  I guess either way there will be people happy and people upset

Oh, but that match will happen eventually, like that Bryan Danielson vs Darby Allin match that was a classic and well worth the wait of the initial bait and switch!

    ...

    ...

    ...

No, wait, let me just check...

    ...

    ...

    Well, fuck!

    Never mind.

I enjoyed harder Pumpkins stuff like Zero and Bullet with Butterfly Wings more than morose songs like Today and Disarm.  Then again, I thought Broken was worlds better than Pretty Hate Machine, if we’re talking 90s alternative hot takes.

Yeah, Zero is pretty much the only SP song I would go out my way to listen to and I like it a lot. Also, it's a good thing that Pretty Hate Machine came out in '89, then. From that, I only loop Head Like a Hole and sometimes Terrible Lie slips in. After that, I only have With Teeth and Year Zero by NIN, but it's not like I listen to those, either.

  7. wHy CaN't dYNAmiTe aLWays bE LiKe tHiS?!?

All you had to do was:

to have a women's dream match with 3+ years of megapush between the participants.

The most surprising and beyond expectations Wild Card in the Owen-tournament history having an awesome match with a main eventer.

A tag team title match that gave us a consolation prize for missing out on Hurt Syndicate vs Murder Machines plus MJF scheming to get into HB again.

A rematch of a PPV classic that was different from the first one but just as, if not even more crazy.

Main event with HOOK replaced by Hobbs, Young Bucks getting stomped by Swerve, Death Riders losing a title and Jon Moxley choked TFO!

    It's not rocket science, folks!

  8. Did a Trapbar single rep off the floor with 610 lbs (or 277kg) today. Was it late last year when I said I'd like to get 600 lbs off the floor before new year, or something like that. Well, I'm 10lbs past that goal right now, with a couple of weeks to go before the summer cut begins once more!

After dealing with a lot of the health issues the past five+ years my father passed away late last night from a sudden cardiac arrest. He had been in the hospital seemingly fine after having his toes amputated, but between checkups where he was fine it just happened randomly. The nurse just sounded so stunned. My older brother and myself are doing fine so far though it hit my sisters and my dad's oldest sister hard as expected. I think we will all be fine with time though that suddenness still throws me even having some idea of his passing coming due to his worsening health over the years. My mother's flowers blooming for the first time in years feels like a bit of a sign now so I'd like to think he has just joined her happily on the other side.

My condolences to you and your family. Obviously, there's never a good time for something like this to happen, but losing someone out of the blue like that certainly leaves you shocked and even numb, sometimes. Sorry for your loss.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I doubt MJF is written to appeal to incels. Seems to me he's written to disgust normal people.

To-MAY-to, To-MAA-to, or something like that! Or maybe The Office "It's the same picture"-meme would be applicable here!

But to be serious, the fact that disgusting the regular folk being something that resonates with incels may be a shitty feature instead of an unfortunate bug, although it could also be a shitty bug instead of an unfortunate feature, not really sure?

There's no question that Tony is carny enough to have legit given the eight-man winners the money, right?

Or at least give the guys what they said they were going to do with their share, if not give the outright cash to them!

Too bad Briscoe said he'd expand his portfolio, not exactly the best time for buying stocks, unless you are among those who are told beforehand what the next insane move will be.

But Disney Land/World, shoes and whatever it was that Knight was wanted should definitely be on the menu courtesy of Tony Khan!

Barely related to this, my friend's grandmother died last year and she was a hoarder so it took forever for the family to go thorough everything at her house since she lived on a big chunk of land and they did a few estate sales and her grandfather was my size and had a bunch of western style shirts with the snap buttons that she had me look at, I took a few and they're kinda hipster but they're really nice plaid and flannel shirts that are perfect so I wear them most of the fall and winter around here and I don't care that I'm 40 and dressing like a hipster.

Wouldn't the people who were most recently the first wave of hipsters (as we understand the term today) already pretty close to 40, anyway?

Can we all just admit we'd be willing to forgive all the really shitty things WWE has done if only they'd bring back those amazing goddamned ice cream bars?????

You very well may be correct on that one, but I for one have never had the opportunity to taste one, so I'm exempt from it, right?

I did see the commercials back in the day and my mouth is actually watering as I write this thinking about those!

  14. Main event still to go, but:

Kevin Knight did not look out of place against Ospreay, probably because he is brand new, fresh and not tarnished yet. Great action to kick things off.

Tag title match was what it was and you got the feeling that if Bounty Apple gets caught alone in the ring, this one is done! He did, and that's what happened. MJF may or may not regret this one, we'll see!

Mercedes vs Julia wasn't exactly a PPV match, but by the end of it, Julia fought like hell and ended up in a pinning combination, not a finisher, so she looked strong in defeat!

I slept through most of Jericho-Bandido but saw the false finish and restart. Then I thought why is Hologram here and then realised it was Gravity! Great for Bandido, I need to watch this again.

Toni Storm vs Megan Bayne told a great story and Storm escaped by the skin of her teeth due to finally figuring out a counter to Bayne's finisher! She was totally shocked that she was successful here! A possible rematch later on whenever, may have a different outcome!

Fletcher vs Briscoe was nice to get on PPV but now they are even, so the one huge thing Briscoe had done as a single is now gone.

Rated FTR vs Death Riders was good action, the result was not really in question, but the aftermath was actually pretty shocking once Cash got in on the action as well! Seems like Cope needs a partner, if he doesn't require a wheelchair for a little bit after that! Too bad there's really no one around to fill that spot with Jay White out with the arm injury and stuff!

The International title 3-way was spectacular, while not very similar to the Kenny v PAC v OC that I will obviously compare it to, but still very entertaining in its own way! "That's not going to work" *runs* "BAM!" *gets blasted with a crane kick* Awesome!

Main Event maybe later on tonight?

Ok, interesting to see mat/submission wrestling to start the world title match. I'm definitely ok with it. It was decent of them to have Swerve bleeding without any weapons (up to that point). Some stuff made it look as if Swerve came in with a really shitty strategy. Hangman coming in, being conflicted and eventually doing the right thing was really good. Even better, when doing the right thing still ended up with Swerve not becoming the champion (as Young Bucks pointed out at Dynamite, and took credit for). Marina had some pretty decent body language and emoting(ish) in her Terminator-ish way here. Mox survived another night and everyone is happy. Well, at least The Opps are now in the picture. They won't be the ones to take out Moxley, but all other Death Riders (or will it be The Elite Riders soon?) should be within their paygrade.

Much like everything else sports and entertainment, previously smug and elitist sites like DVDVR have become reasonable safe havens against the broader ills of social media.

Somehow, this reminds me early 2010's when Beavis and Butt-Head had those new episodes on Mtv. The episodes were what they were, but bits where they watched Mtv and commented on the reality TV episodes and such, they actually sounded much more sensible than what was going on the screen. At the time I was thinking "20 years onwards and these guys are now the voice of reason?!?" That was more than a decade ago. I guess this place has become something like that a good while ago, as well?

  16. Only up to Zero Hour at this point, but: the trios match rocked and people were SO into AR Fox again, holy shit!

I have a feeling that if this was the pay-off for Max Caster's open challenge, then he's just about done. Now, Bowens looked great, the new theme was awesome and the match followed the same structure as all of the previous open challenges. If Max did all of this just to really put over Bowens, then he is a really good guy and great friend, but this deal needs to end now, as beating Caster means nothing at this point. AEW had better make it count with Bowens for Jannetty-ing Caster this fucking hard! Even, and I stress this, EVEN if all of this would have been Caster's own idea (which I don't know).

the topic of AEW wrestlers flying in to Dynasty without working makes me wonder a random question:

did WCW wrestlers who weren't on the card get any sort of discount to buy WCW PPVs? guess we could ask the same question for pre-Network WWF/WWE

or ask if WWE workers got a WWE Network membership as part of their employment.. you'd think "they get paid enough, they should be able to afford it" but keep in mind that some wrestlers are cheap

You would think that WWE Network for the workers would fall under "continuous improvement" so that people have this handy reference tool at their disposal! It could be a way to possibly improve their work by getting some pointers from the massive library available to them? Smart business move, in my opinion, anyway!

  18. Watching the Dynasty zero hour and all this All In hype made me think: All Out must feel so miserable right now! It used to be the Top PPV of the year (failed at it, mostly but still...) and now it's a fucking Backlash!?! If I was All Out, I'd probably be looking for bridges to jump off of at this point!

I honestly can't tell if you're being serious or not, so:

I meant no insult; I was just imitating the comedy talents of Henny Youngman, who was referenced in the post right above mine. He was known as the King of the One-Liners back in the '50s and '60s. If you've ever seen the movie Casino, he was in it doing one of his routines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henny_Youngman

Granted, it was pretty old of me to even reference him, but I just wanted to see if I could pull off sounding like him. I think I did okay?

It was very accurate of not just him but your average olden age comedy introduction, as well! Good work.

Also, Jesus H. Mayweather, of course I'm not being serious. Although I'm sick up to my eyes and balls of people claiming to be experts at anything with very questionable merit and think their uneducated opinion is equal to scientific approach etc, so I had to do a bit on that as well.

Furthermore, it was also reference to the notion of "I have watched a lot of wrestling, so my knowledge of it is equal to anyone who has actually wrestled for a living" to piss off people who believe that as well as the "you have never been in the ring so you can't critique anything" crowd at the same time. So it was a veiled Wrestling Hot Take, as well!
