  1. You gotta check out Zandokan Jr.. He’s the guy I’m mentioning as the once in a generation guy. He’s currently doing a lot of opening matches. Which you think might be noting, but they are booking him in angles that make him a stand out rudo. It also helps this is because of the big cage match up this Sunday(Sin Salida). After this Sunday though, he’s definitely getting moved up.

  2. Current CMLL you can’t beat right now. It’s the best it’s ever been booked since the early 00’s. But a lot of people haven’t picked up on it because of the way the shows have been distributed, but people should give it a shot. They have quite a collection of future stars on their roster right now. Highlighted by a once in a generation lucha talent. I can’t recommend them enough if you need a weekly lucha fix.

  3. I had a feeling we’d get more Darby Vs. Joe. I don’t think Joe has had as much fun being a wrestler since 2006 till he stepped foot in a ring with Darby, so of course Joe wanted to do it again. Suggestion for those two… Do some tags to get this going longer. It appears that dude who is supposed to be Evil Darby is signed. He might be a good addition to this if Wardlow ain’t around. Maybe get Joe a similar looking partner, or just another big dude. Prince Nana’s crew ain’t doing much. Joe should hire them for help to squash his enemies.

  4. That was pretty early into the Bucks big long run, and the first show with a large during COVID crowd. I remember, because I was there. I forget the circumstances, but Mox & Kingston just weren’t going to happen, and they were dead set on throwing the Lucha Bros(who were both healthy at the time) the big bone at All Out. I feel they were right, they just should’ve followed it up better for The Bros.

I mentioned that Psicosis, and his fellow Luchadors(That weren’t Mysterio) weren’t good US singles wrestlers. But actually Psicosis as a face worker was quite good in singles matches. His Nitro match with Regal around this time was pretty great. And the crowd completely backs him up, even when he’s in a non-Mexican US town.

  6. I was listening to Tarantino‘s podcast this morning, and he brings up a characters name in The Loved One. I realized this was the actual origin of Virgil Runnels wrestling name.

    Learn something new…

Edit: Oh wait a minute! No, wait one fucking second! Both Tarantino, and Roger Avery repeat the name “Dusty Rhodes”. But on doing further research the name is actually “Dusty Acres”. So somebody had the fat man from Florida on their minds. Funny because I don’t think QT has ever said he was a fan of wrestling.

Well, if Shawn didn't get Vader put out of their program and Shawn didn't lose his smile, Sid's run would have been mostly as a big guy who plays maybe the #2 or #3 heel at best. So yeah, he would have been the gatekeeper/monster you beat BEFORE getting a title shot. Once Vader got replaced, Sid and Vader essentially changed spots and that was the end of Vader being taken that seriously as a big time player. So Sid basically settled into the role he was going to be in from the start before plans changed.

With Ahmed, they had big plans out of the gate. The big obstacle would have been how you handle him once he won the IC title from Goldust. Had he gotten through the Farooq feud clean and unscathed, you could have put him in a big time program after that and moved him up a little.

Ahmed might’ve been in Taker’s spot at Mania 13 if you really think about it.

  8. Sammy really needs to change things up with his look, and character. I compared him many times to a young Sean Waltman, and now he’s verging on the point of just being a permanent obnoxious hanger on like X-Pac. Maybe this is his best role, and he can’t make it past a point, however people will hate this more than ever before the longer it goes.

Watched the Dynamite episode from 2020 that begins with PAC vs Omega 30-minute Iron Man and has the final build towards Revolution 2020. After that, I watched the inagural Fight for the Fallen, for the most part. Didn't get around to Rhodes Boys vs Young Bucks yet, but good stuff anyway. It's just funny that after the past month, seeing PAC vs Kenny going another 30 minutes (albeit the first time one on one), was like, I think I've seen this already. It was really good, but I kept thinking, did PAC and Adam Page ever have a match after the first one fell through?

Yes, Page, and PAC had a match, pretty early in fact. It might have been the first episode actually, or the 2nd.

  10. I’m interested in what the plan is for Wardlow tomorrow. If they believe in him enough to give the belt right back. Joe’s been an absolute killer in this run, and I wouldn’t want it to end, but it wouldn’t surprise me with how AEW books that the babyface doesn’t walk out with the belt to win it all. Which leads me to believe that they either go double DQ, or Wardlow wins by countering the Kokina Clutch for the surprise pin, that way we get a rematch with a decisive win.

Loved glass onion, I think it was better than knives out, certainly more fun. What's up with Batista's head though? It looks like it has gig marks all over. . . .

    He’s done his lips too.

I think he’s pretty much on one of those never ending cosmetic surgery benders that he won’t escape from until he’s a walking tomb, like Madonna.

I'm in February. I finally got around to a DDP vs Benoit US title match that was on a Thunder, that I only ever knew about from a PWI magazine that talked about how the Flock sabotaged the match by putting a smoke machine under the ring.

It's weirdly smoky in the arena, but the angle is never once referenced on the show at all. It's a really good match too, DDP keeps up with Benoit move for move. Hitting the Diamond Cutter on a Sick Boy springboard was one of the first real high spots out of nowhere aspects of the move.

Oh I might need to check that out. I’ve been skipping Thunder. But I do know that DDP, and Raven feud were relegated Thunder a lot. That’s been a blind spot on rewatches.

  13. I think WWF/E got super lucky they ended up scouting a ton of sports athletes that somehow convert perfectly into the system like Brock, Angle, Shelton, etc. These new guys, and the Power Plant back in the day are like the Wheel of Pain. You’d be lucky to get a Cimmerian out of that wheel from the talent pool.

  14. He had a completely different, and Star quality look after The Flock. But yeah he never got past rookie quality, and never figured out what to do after doing a springboard.

Still is apparently 6’5”, he could do springboards, and was still very young. If he needed 15 years, then so be it. He had potential. I guess it wasn’t worth it to him to continue a consistent path, or really improve his craft. He’s off and on, on a lot of his resume. A guy his size on the indies could have been a star somewhere, and probably given a 2nd look, or a spot in Japan during the late 00’s resurgence.
