I always interpreted the Varsity Club as a bunch of dumb jocks who followed this really smart D&D geek because he could help them cheat on tests, and make them effective roofies. While at the same time Sullivan was manipulating them into doing his bidding. Like for instance, kidnapping Precious.
Edit: also remember his nickname was “The Games Master” which sounded like a play on the title “Dungeon Master”.
The whole Varsity Club angle was way too layered for its time.

Bryan looks like The Dude, if Walter died too, and he didn’t have anybody else around to keep him from completely snapping like he did near the end of The Big Lebowski.

It also helped that he had that voice modulator. Plus he had this wet look to him in promos, and in the ring. Like he was either a dead prisoner that Bossman drowned, or he had just rose from the San Francisco Bay after escaping Alcatraz, and didn’t brother toweling himself down.

Well that’s because they didn’t give him a lot of time to tell in ring stories. Trust me if guys like him, and the Boogie Woogie Man got more time they’d be mentioned in the same breath as the Steamboat’s, the Flair’s, and the Davey Richards of the world.

...And yes I really, really want real competition. Not some McDonald's(WWE) opening up a gourmet burger joint(NXT), and pretending it was competition.

Say what you will about Nailz. But he sure was good at doing worked two handed strangles. He was so good at it that I sometimes wonder if the LJN games were rotoscoping him for the strangle animation.

I thought of Charlotte too. They’d probably want to give it to a big star first to establish the tournament, like when Bret won it. But then Vince might be tempted to give it to a lame duck wrestler because it wasn’t “Obvious”. Like watch it end up being Nia Jax, or god forbid fucking Tamina

Even women won’t be able to escape the royalty gimmick.
I got my money on Mandy Rose winning it. The queen gimmick can perfectly fit her aesthetics.
