  1. I had a weird idea based off of some football-meets-wrestling crap I saw from some ESPN talking heat about who had The Belt, aka the current best player.  Or maybe it was baseball.

You could definitely do that with acting fairly easily.  Look at everyone who won major awards for films, list who should have won or if it was correctly called, then see who dethrones them with future performances.  So you end up with the actual award winners vs. award winners, and then the really egregious cases of people not getting nominated who were great (think John Goodman in The Big Lebowski).

I think the one rule I'd set there is something like a 6- to 7-year maximum (or however long Hogan's WWF title run was, because that seems like a fitting length of time) before someone is automatically retired for a given performance - which, of course, means they could just win it again later for something else.

My current belt holders would probably be: Actor - DiCaprio for OUATIH, dethroning Michael Keaton for Birdman; Actress - Amy Adams for Arrival; Supporting Actor - Mahershala Ali dethroning Mahershala Ali (Green Book & Moonlight); Supporting Actress - Alicia Vikander for The Danish Girl.

    I dunno.  Could be fun.

  2. My one and only contribution to The Spooky Day was that I bought the XBone version of Prey at Wal-mart for 5 whole American dollars.  Usually there's an install, but I popped the disc in and it was ready.  I forgot I'd installed it - and then never played it - back when it was on Game Pass.

I really only bought it because I watched one of the excellent Game Maker's Toolkit videos on the Gloo Cannon and it seemed like it'll be worth fucking around with that.  Plus now I can ignore it on Steam.

  3. I really don't see why anyone goes gaga over Road Warrior.  I actually prefer the simplicity of the first Mad Max to that.  It doesn't feel like it has any heart that isn't almost entirely lifted from Shane - I mean, granted, I love two movies from the last 5-6 years that are blatant remakes of that, but Road Warrior felt even less original.

  4. Lawrence obviously hurts, but Uiagalelei had a good second half.  The other notables for that game are that LB James Skalski is out the rest of the year with a groin issue, and he was one of the high-engine guys in the defense.  Plus, Xavier Thomas had a targeting call vs. BC, so he'll miss the first half of ND, too.  The defense can't have 1 bad half and 1 good half next week.

Even then, decent chance at a rematch in the ACC title game regardless of the outcome.

  5. I dunno, I never got into the whole "he's a terrible human" thing because I figured judging some of these guys for that was like choosing between being buried beneath 49 feet of crap or being buried beneath 50 feet of crap.  I suppose Quack qualifies these days, since that whole blow-up a while ago was the wrong kind of illuminating.

As far as someone I would boo no matter what, there's Yoji Anjo and there's everyone else.  The single most eminently hate-worthy mug ever.

Someone I can't stand from the perspective of, "This person is awful at everything and I just want them to go away", I always loathed the New Age Outlaws any time they were on the screen.  It's like watching a Steelers versus Ravens game: you just want a meteor to hit the stadium and erase it from existence.

  6. I think what bugged me the most about Season 2 is the Billy Joel content.

The first ep kicks off with "Pressure" and I actually found myself liking the song.  I hate Billy Joel.  HATE.  But I had to resist the urge to rewind that scene so I could listen to the song again, and it's been in my head ever since.

If I were questioning my sexuality at my age, I think I'd have less of a problem with that than the idea of liking a Billy Joel song.

  7. The last few months have been a real struggle when it comes to dedication, I'm finding.  Kind of fell off in terms of caloric intake, but the sheer exhaustion of shoveling 3500 calories' worth of reasonable food into your piehole - especially as a diabetic - will do that to you.  So I've probably dropped 5 pounds or so, down from my best of 193-194.  I've never cracked 200 in my life, and that was sort of the goal when I started back in February, but it doesn't look like it's happening this year.

On the plus side, I found a couple of different ab set-ups that I'm pretty happy with: one being a cross of Jeremy Ethier & Jeff Cavaliere videos, and the other being a simple ab wheel, which really hammers you if you use it correctly.

But, I still basically loathe my home workouts.  I'm in a 2nd-floor apartment, so it's bodyweight-only for me, though I'm thinking that the next time Core sells their adjustable dumbbells, I'm going to drop the $350 and buy a set.  I doubt it would motivate me, but at least I can do a LOT more variety with that (especially with respect to isolation movements).  It usually takes watching more Youtube stuff (lately it's been Ryan Humiston, but why I'm taking fitness advice from a vegan, I can't fathom) to get me in the right mindset.  I miss the gym.
