  1. While I don’t watch wrestling as consistently as I once did, I watch a wider variety now.  I got a case of the fuck its last summer and took 3 months off to relax and got into PWG, wXw and some other indies.  While a lot of people (myself included) have bitched about the bigger feds the last few years, there isn’t a better time to be a wrestling fan.  We have access to so much and there is something that should appeal to everyone.  Anyway...

I haven’t watched a weekly WWE show all the way through since maybe 2001.  I would occasionally get big ppv’s but the last one I dished out $ for was WM 27.  Stopped watching Wcw all together after the finger poke of doom.  Watched the original TNA weekly ppv’s but lost interest once they went to Fox Sports.  I need to check out AEW and more MLW

  2. I just watched the last MLW episode.  It was interesting and Jacob Fatu seems to be a star in the making.

A side question:  I haven’t seen a ton of Callahan, but are his promos always so horrible, or was this a one off?  He wears a Death Machine hat, but his promo makes him feel less intimidating than Hornswoggle.

Everything with the Moxley video is hilarious. "Burnt out dudes planning to retire" don't probably spend thousands of dollars* filming a high end vignette that posts minutes after their contract expires. I bet dude is motivated to go out, make some money and cause a ruckus.

*of course, he may not have done it himself and it may be a AEW production but that furthers the point that the WWE-side claiming he was retiring was either willfully lying or let themselves get worked pretty hard.

Are we sure he’s not staring in a WWE production of Varsity Blues 2?  The plot is this:  Jonathan “Mox” Moxson’s Football career flamed out and is now a bounty hunter.  His high school buddy Tweeder escapes from jail, and Mox is the only one with the skills and knowledge to help the FBI (played by the Revival) track him down.  This scenario seems much more plausible

Not to derail this thread too much because I'm also interested in hearing more about PR right now, but what? I wasn't aware of this. I will have to dig this stuff up, if it exists, as well. I remember some channel on Time Warner Cable airing a PR promotion, which I think was IWA, in the 2000s. Maybe a Fox channel?

I recall seeing it on Sunsports Channel in the early 200’s.  I only caught a handful of episodes before it wasn’t on there.  I didn’t know what to think because one episode was Ricky Banderas wrestling someone in what looked like a damn monsoon

I will mention it here because it is specific to ROH

A lot of the decisions made tonight are because Bully Ray has gotten himself a position of power and has much more influence now

According to some - the “shoot” they are trying to push was fought by several people but Bully got his way

ROH has been stale for years and anything Bubba is included in makes it 100 times worse.  It feels like the only reason ROH is looked at as the #2 fed is because of its affiliation with NJPW.

Amazing that the all time leader in 3 pointers ended up with zero in the the Wofford vs Kentucky.   It wasn't pretty but winning without your best player is pretty impressive.

First two games today have been incredible

So either Florida State didn't watch Murray State 1st round game or Leonard Hamilton is a moron because he has been leaving Ja Morant wide open on these shots which is just asking for it

So, how did that work out for Hamilton and the Noles?

  7. I’ll be honest, I rarely watch the WWE and tuned in sporadically tonight, but enjoyed the WWE, U.S. and tag title matches.  I didn’t realize there were more matches after the title match (was watching without the sound), so can’t speak with on the last two.  Was pleasantly surprised by what I saw though

The first time I ever ate a slim Jim as a kid I was insanely disappointed it didn't make the snap sound from the commercial. It was right after little league too, so my whole team witnessed me take a massive bite of this thing and snap it away from my mouth just like Macho only to get nothing.

I threw it out and bought a hot dog.

I don’t know if anyone on these boards remember the shitty LA GEAR shoes that Karl Malone had, but the commercial made it appear as if there was a sound made when you took a step.  A buddy bought these and I had him convinced that the “catapult “ (that’s what they were called) was broken because it didn’t make the noise.  He wasn’t thrilled with me when he and his mom tried taking them back and the sales person let them know they didn’t make a noise.

Here's my old man off the topic story, I hope I can do it justice:

In the early Aughts, a loony money mark was active for a couple months in the Wisconsin area, and used a bunch of unemployed ex-WWF/WCW talent as well as a bunch of indie guys from the area, including your humble narrator. Wow, I made a bunch of money from this coke-addled goofus and more importantly, got a whole passel of amazing tales out of it. One night, we were in a nightclub's utility room that was serving as the locker room for this money mark's card (no advertising, about 14 people in attendance). The Fabulous Moolah was there, as well as Jim Neidhart, Sensational Sherri, Carmine the Hustler DiSpirito (who was the contact for many of the vets), some indie cannonfodder (inc. thee RAF) and Mike Shaw. Mr. Shaw always had a lot to say, and was really holding court on this night. He was telling everyone how he had asked the "promoter" if he could work early in the card because he had to get back to Michigan to get to his wrestling school in the morning, and that he had gotten his hotel moneys in cash (and how he could use any of his gimmicks, and how cold it got in Calgary, and how nice Hogan was to him, et al...). He really went on and on about his students, and no one else had much to say or the time to say it. When Shaw lumbered out of the room, there was a pregnant pause and Moolah quietly said in her Southern lilt, "Well, who is gonna teach Mike how to work?" and we all fell out. She really was a master of timing.

    emmis,

    RAF

Was Sherri decent?  Man, there was just something about her!   Teenage me really enjoyed her work!  Haha
