I forgot Bloodsport was last night. Did anyone watch it? Worth catching the replay?

I saw up to the Chris Dickinson fight and fell asleep.  The Shlak thing was the highlight up to that.  If you are a fan of quick matches that are meant to look "real" I'd watch it.  Or if you have a coupon and can watch for free. For the Culture, Jimmy Lloyd's show, and the Trent Acid cup day 1 were all much better IMO.

  2. so far I've watched both IWTV Family Reunion shows. Most of Trent Acid Cup and a little of the Jimmy Lloyd show.    Some of the spots from the Lloyd show were insane.

Crowd size for the IWTV shows look extremely small.  Must be hot as hell in Florida, I've never seen so many wrestlers bring water bottles to the ring as I have with these GCW shows.

  3. What if Vince and the WWF Steroid trial never happened? Would Warrior and Davey never have left? Would Bret never have been champ?  Would Shawn ever have received his monster push? We probably still get Diesel, but he is probably working Sid who also may or may not have stuck around.

  4. I know it sounds petty but if I'm in WWE and I am a Bayley, Nakamura, Benjamin, Ricochet, Uso, and I bust my ass all year and bookers can't find a spot for me on a 2 night Mania  I'm going to NJPW or AEW as soon as I can.  Why stick around at a company where they can't find something for me on a 2 night Mania?  Same goes for Roode and Dolph

I'm actually feeling incredibly anxious about returning to real life. If AEW ran my town tomorrow and TK was giving out the vaccine at the door, I'm still not sure I'd be ready to go.

On a deeper level, I think our society was handed a golden reset button with this pandemic, and we completely fucked it up. We learned a five day, 40 hour workweek makes no sense. We learned it makes no sense to be herded into disease infected cubicles to do a job you can do from your bedroom. We learned that a UBI might make more sense than we originally thought. We learned shaking hands is silly as shit.

And collectively we went "No thanks! More of the same, please! And by the way, hurry it up!" Just a massive disappoinment on every possible level. We could have taken this thing and changed our world for the better, and we'll (God willing) never have that chance again.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

    I agree

I had worked remote for 3 yrs and loved it. Then went back into an office setting, smaller with 15 or so ppl and can easily do my job remote.  6 months of remote and now we do hybrid work in office in small group one day, work from home next.  It's wild to see how many people just can't be productive working from home.  People either excel or they do nothing, no common middle.  As someone who works as a recruiter I can also say that remote work has spoiled most of the country and now people will sit and collect unemployment unless they can work from home.  Sadly these people will be SOL once the unemployment wears out but they don't seem to care.

  6. $140 for the shows 2-3 yrs ago maybe but now with the talent available I just don't know.  My daughter has 3 lacrosse games over the weekend so I will likely miss the Friday 6pm shows and anything early Sat and Sunday. Do I want to pay for the package to watch then On Demand? I just don't know.  I have IWTV already but will all of those shows be available on Demand immediately after?  I know most shows are but will these Mania weekend ones be?

The funny part to me is, why are they limiting them to just 15, or 20, or 25? What else are they doing? Its the easiest money, just say "all orders will be taken through 4/6" and if Alexa Bliss has to cut 100 promos at $400 a pop I am sure she'd manage.

but, but Mania is in Florida, I am sure she is spending every minute at Disney World living her fantasy

Any wrestler that's involved in The Collective this week has to do a rapid COVID test on Wednesday. Unless you're saying they're lying about this and are just putting it out there for good PR.

No, but the one they did in the Fall didn't require testing and many were seen without masks. A female worker told me and I quote "it was a complete shitshow backstage. I came in for my show and left the next morning"

Glad to see they are doing this though and thank you Casey for letting us know as i missed the tweet.  Also sad to see Akira tested positive already and will be missing the shows.  Makes me sad to see people bust their ass all year and have to miss the big show or big weekend.

I think doing shows in Florida of all places during a pandemic will hurt indy shows a lot mainly because it's not guaranteed how they're all handling safe practices.  You know what you're getting from AEW and the WM show but you hope that things are well-structured with other shows.  I do feel bad for shows that aren't selling enough tickets but I'll still buy the shows that interest me.  But with some that need to make ends meet doing these shows is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

and see that's just it. The indy promotions (most anyway) aren't requiring a worker test negative prior to working the show.  It's not hard to do a test and get the results. Many places free that give you results within 20 mins.  But the flip side is these wrestlers are also mingling with fans, taking pics, selling merch etc which could make the virus spread quicker. Damned if you do, damned if you don't is exactly the right way to look at this. Florida has less restrictions which is understandably why they are having the shows there. Last Collective handled Covid horribly and a few of those workers won't be working these shows. They flat out refused.

Hoping though that someone steps up and has a star making week. I'd put $$$ on that person being Lee

It was kinda touched upon in the indy thread but apparently the collective isn't selling so great. The Mania weekend indy cards usually had wrestlers from around the world fly in. The cards are just not interesting and the collective they ran last year had issues with COVID-19 precautions not being followed.

That said, I'm thinking I'll watch Bloodsport since Moxley-Barnett has piqued my interest.

that was what I noticed but didn't want to come out and say it. When you have so many shows in a 3-4 day window it really is showing how limited the current indy pool is.  Like you mentioned this year is severely lacking with international talent which with Covid is understandable. Also $130+ for the package on Fite is pretty high.

I know a few people who worked the fall collective and were extremely pissed about how they handled things. They won't be working these shows.

AIW having a weekly show on IWTV is very intriguing to me and something to keep an eye on.

Never read the former. Have to seek it out as origin stories are an interest of mine and to me, Batman: Year One is the best Batman book of all time.

it's really good, show's how Dick met Jason and has their first mission in it as well. Great read.

Dick Grayson is one of my favourite comic book characters for versatility and upbeat nature. Don't forget Dick Grayson as Batman written by Grant Morrison and also Scott Snyder. A golden period that was especially by Morrison when Grayson formed the new Dynamic Duo with Damian Wayne's Robin.

I re-read Year one Deluxe of Nightwing last night.  I like how it's mentioned that Dick had hoped to always become Batman himself.  I liked Morrison making Dick Batman but also liked it when he took over the mantle for a short time during Knightfall/Troika/Prodigal

  13. Stunning Steve Austin>  Stone Cold Steve Austin and it isn't even close.

Regal Vs Daniel Bryan would be $$$ why hasn't it happened?

Adam Page could have such a bigger story. We hear about Brit being a dentist but nothing about Adam being a school teacher.  at least he was.   Use this for an angle. Put the beer down for the kids, horrible role model for your students, etc.   I mean the angle is right there to be used.

Austin Aires is the biggest POS in all of wrestling. My mind on this probably will not be changed. I don't know that I ever saw a worker as universally disliked by both fans and wrestlers in a very long time.

The Million Dollar Dream done by Ted> any form of the sleeper hold ever.

  14. I enjoyed Nightwing #78. I feel I have a few ideas on where I think the story will go but I think things are back on the right track. Dick is such a versatile character. He has been written in so many ways.  Acrobat, Robin Boy Wonder,  Teen Titan member,  Nightwing, Superspy Grayson,  Ric.....   So many layers to the guy I just hope DC serves him well this time around.
