The Revival/AA match was my platonic ideal of wrestling. The Revival make me realize that I have one dream in life, and that is to be 1/2 of a heel tag team. Or the manager of a heel tag team. I think going custom jacket shopping with your tag partner must be the most fun way to spend an afternoon.

You must be my soul mate.

I'm still a fan of the satin look. Got to give the babyfaces some ammunition - so I vote for yellow.

Aries was the show MVP. A big YIKES on that match-changing bump.

Of course, the people who have been hating on Aries since he showed up just sort of skipped over talking about that match. Ha.

I came out thinking the same tbing. Aries was held his own against Nak. Everyone knew he was going to lose, but damn if he didn't get stronger because of it.

  3. The Steinerification of Aa was completed tonight. Jordan even became The Dog Faced Gremlin at one point and the crowd ate it up.

Dash & Dawson is the best pure American tag team I've seen in 20-25 years. They're not Anderson/Tully... they're Anderson/Zybisco.

Found a YT channel with a bunch of early/mid 80s Florida. I've been going through some of the stuff from '84, specifically.  Kevin Sullivan is utterly captivating. The angle where Midnight Rider and Mike Graham lynch him from the rafters had me at the edge of my seat.

What a weird dynamic, as your babyfaces are essential guilty of attempted murder.

Is it really attempted.murder when you're clearly fighting a demon?

Windham would've defo had a main event run as Widowmaker, or at least been at the Macho Man level of upper midcard. Absolutely sucked he had to leave

Seeing Barry in WWF was the only reason I picked up the Collosium video of SS89 way back when and I'll never forgive them for keeping that team pic on the back knowing full well he wasn't on the show

He's says something quite honest in that shoot interview when he's asked who is the most overrated wrestler and answers himself - had all the ability but none of the desire

That end quote about himself really says it all. I loved Barmy Windham. Him and Steamboat were my boys.... he had the look and the ability and he was like water in the ring (to borrow a Bruce Lee-ism)... when TA went down he should have been The Guy. But he just didn't have the desire.

  6. What if there was no "curtain call"?

HHH gets the summer push with the KotR... Austin was already Stone Cold but there would be no Austin 3:16...

Which means he probably doesn't get the match with Owen at Summerslam in 97... which means he doesn't dumb down his style and forever alter the "main event formula".

  7. If I was Busick I'd ask for my papers, go work on my look (hit the gym) and act, build up a bigger name for myself travelling and then go back and actually have a little pull.

Bully Busick is right there! Give him 10-15# of muscle and have him slap people around and call them Sally.

  8. I've been watching a lot of NWA WCW circa 1985 today... a lot of this stuff I forgot about... how Ronnie Garvin got himself into the title picture, etc... how bad ass Magnum TA really was... how good on the mic Road Warrior Hawk was...

And I'm incredibly impressed by Kent Glover... he had some good psychology and could sell... if he had a body he could have been something.

It's not a zero-sum game.  Yes, WWE has actual writers, but the verbiage they come up with is so stilted and unrealistic that I find myself looking for the puppeteer's hands up the wrestlers' asses during promos.  The best of both worlds would be: don't have a bloated staff of failed sitcom writers following the whims of a mad septuagenarian AND don't have wrestlers do stupid vignettes unless they've had some actual acting experience.  The Hardys' skit here is a perfect storm of shit, poorly conceived and executed, but better writers wouldn't have helped.  Hell, half of Matt's lines actually sound like the overdone shit you'd hear on any Monday night.

That said, give me the old vignettes from the 80s... Fuji Vice, The Von Erich's on their farm bossing around Jimmy Garvin scaring the be jebus out of him with a shotgun. David Schultz inviting you into what looks like his trailer home and bossing around his old lady.
