Well, there goes my dream team of Itami and Tozawa.  I guess now I just have to look forward to them beating the crap out of each other down the line.  Poor Tozawa was so shocked, too.  "Wait, why are you pissed?  You're the one who knocked me off the top rope!"

Good main event between Gulak and Kalisto, but Bizzaro World was burned the hell out after Raw and Smackdown.  Gulak wins, opening up a potential... *sigh*... title opportunity down the road.

And Buddy Murphy annihilated a dude.

Solid show. Hideo is going to be the greatest heel of all time if he can stay healthy. They really need to give him the GTS back because that new finisher he is working with is bullshit.

Kallisto has been on a roll lately and seems like he has great chemistry with everyone. Gulak however seems poised to dominate everyone as usual and can't wait.

This feud with Murphy/Alexander needs to deliver period.

I don't think it matters provided he does not look giant on the show. I think Eric Young would be perfect as champion, he could do what Enzo was doing except he can wrestle and is not a gross tumor of a human.

I don't think Cedric Alexander is cutting it. How do you get excited for Cedric Alexander vs Buddy Murphy?

It is called building. You can't get excited by what is essentially a reboot of a program that has been bogged down by Enzo(who I point out that he did not make 205 Live exciting after his catchphrase ended) or Vince's booking decisions. It is going to take time. Right now, everyone save for Cedric is rebuilding their character and match psychology. Gulak is now more aggressive and technical while retooling his character into something more intimidating. The Lucha House Party are now starting to gain character, Ali is becoming the exciting Gargano/Zayn underdog that HHH loves to use in every program that he is behind. TJP is being his natural asshole self except now he is competent. Hideo is starting to become his own character and etc. You can say that Cedric could be more exciting, but he can't really do that in less than 10 minute matches. And from what I have seen, he does not seem partial to character building at all. His job is to put on the best matches of whatever show he is on and right now, he is batting .500.

Cedric is Seth Rollins before NXT took off. His entire role with the belt is to put on good to decent matches while not having much of a character. Everyone else is supposed to get better and look better while Cedric is simply the flat character who, imo, is the best wrestler on 205 Live if not one of the best in WWE does not change yet. Character wise, he is Finn Balor except a shit ton better in the ring and we are waiting for Samoa Joe to take the title off him(Gulak). So far NXT worked with HHH sticking to a formula that takes time and did not pick up immediately. Not sure if you are a Philadelphia fan, but I say just trust the process. Give it more than two months

As for the suggestion to put guys like Woods,Young, Ricochet, Strong and the Undisputed Era, Dunne, Bate,  Balor, and etc in the 205 Live roster and make the division open for anyone wants to or can compete, yes. I have been wanting this since it became a division again. I want. My complaint with Enzo and even Goldust is that WWE, for some reason, wants to keep guys away from the title that actually would draw attention to the show. Finn Balor, as I have said before, should absolutely be in this division and the shift should not make him less viable for the Universal or WWE Title. Sami Zayn could lose the weight and compete.

What is going to legitimize 205 Live as the show is to put on the best matches with the best workers, and it hurts it that you have guys who would be a perfect fit being alienated away from it.

  3. So this was a glorified house show? Regardless, I don’t really feel bad for Roman. He knows he is being booked terribly and does nothing to change that . Unlike Cena who spent years changing the criticisms he had for years, Roman does not seem to care about how he is getting booked and fully believes it is the fans problem while stating stupid ass shit like he is the best in-Ring performer in the world with a completely straight face. He is tied with for the 2nd leading merch receipent behind Cena and tied with AJ which will undoubtedly change with Daniel Bryan coming back. Dude is getting his coins. Honestly, I guess the money and accolades and prestige supercedes any blows to the pride of performing in front of a crowd who does not give a shit.

This is not me hating Roman at all btw. He is a solid worker and I know he earns his cash every night in that ring. I can never accuse Roman of phoning it in ever. But I rather him be the Rock than Lex Luger.

I expect Kalisto to go for the Salida del sol then Cedric to launch him in the air into the Lumbar Check.

Well you called it. Good match. Not the most creative finish, but a solid match all around. Better than the WM match.

  5. I hate Gauntlet matches, but given the structure of this, I suspect Gulak will be the one to take the title off Alexander down the line. Although his no fly zone gimmick means little in that matchup because Alexander is not really a high flier and can pretty much trade holds with anybody.

As or the match with Kalisto, for me, this is where Alexander, if allowed, should absolutely redeem himself and his reign. I expect him to step up and actualize his potential. No more phoning it in. He needs to go in there with the swagger that he is the best fucking wrestler in the world and fucking deliver. Although I am morally against even watching the show on Friday, I do want the best for the 205bLive guys and for that, the championship match needs to be the highlight in every show.

Bryan's way leaner than he was when retired too.

Really, the only wrestler in WWE whose billed weight I totally buy is Mark Andrews, and that's because we share very similar builds. He makes me have second thoughts about not giving wrestling a shot because I thought I'd be too skinny. Although, I also have a low pain tolerance, poor coordination, and hate traveling, so it probably wasn't ever, ever in the cards.

All of the 205 Live guys are their billed weights. I know that much. Finn Balor is around 190 and the UK guys are their billed weights. Unlike Vince, HHH has no reason to pack more pounds on his guys just to make them more marketable. If that was the case, Gargano and Ciampa would be 210 pounds and just conveniently above the 205 marker.

I actually like the angle. It helps woth the realism of the weight limit and the name of the show.

Hell, I'd love to see Bryan work an angle where he cuts weight so he can get a crack at Gulack.

There is no fucking way Daniel Bryan is 210 pounds.

I think I'm the only person who thought Moon/Baszler was the second best match of the night, but I stand by it.

I honestly thought Dave was gonna go over five for the main event. Like *****1/4 based on the way he talked about it and the write up.

I'm with you. But then again, I wasn't sold on the ladder match and I thought Almas and Black was a close third best.

  9. Wrestlemania did not change a fucking thing for me and while I had high hopes for asuka and charlottte, Cedric and Mustafa, it was not in the cards. This really should not have followed Takeover at all. Not that it would helped because a shit show will always be a shit show. I nearly swore off WWE Vince preferred television until Smackdown convinced me that some shit is worth watching.

That heart and soul stuff was terrible. As were the two of them talking to each other. Match was a big disappointment when compared to last year's cruiserweight match.

There match before the tournament was way better. Whoever produced this match should get fired like what the fuck?

I didn't really buy the heat. Yeah, the crowd was doing what you'd want it to do. But "Fuck Ciampa" has become such a meme that I think most of the hardcore, fly-in audience was just riding that Wreddit-fueled wave.

Rumour has it Vega's moveset is inspired by Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow.

The show was really good. But so many major, lengthy matches in quick succession is exhausting. I needed a breather in there. Mania's going to kill me.

...So any basic Luchadora type moveset?

    My current top 5

1-2. Cien Andrade Almas vs. Johnny Gargano - 1/27, Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa - 4/7

    3. Cien Andrade Almas vs. Aleister Black - 4/7

    4. Women's Royal Rumble - 1/28

I'm stopping there because stuff gets a bit interchangeable for me as they are probably even but how much I like them over the other changes depending on my mood (like half of the CW Title tournament, Asuka vs. everyone). Even that Rumble match just barley eeks out right now.

I feel this so much in regards to everything that has happened so far this year. 205 guarantees that there will be at least 4 star match every week and it is really a pick of the litter of good matches. Honestly, I really do not need to watch Smackdown or Raw as long as I have 205 and NXT.

I just do not like Royal Rumbles in general and this year is no different. I prefer Aztec Warfare because it feels chaotic and shit.

@Brian Fowler, if I did a top 30, it would be littered with Rodrick Strng matches. You have Strong/Dunne, Strong/Kallisto, Strong/Itami, Strong/Bate, Stong and Dunne/ Lorcan and that other dude that I can't remember. Dude is a monster.

  13. So this after NXT takeover so...

    1. Gargano vs Ciampa Takeover New Orleans

    2. Gargano vs Almas

    3. Cedric vs Strong

    4. Murphy vs Kalisto

    5. Asuka vs Sasha Banks

    6. Ali vs Cedric Alexander

    7. Strong vs Dunne

    That is all for today.

I guess it's time for Almas to get the call up, but it definitely feels like they're cutting that reign off just when it's hitting it's stride.  And while I like Black, he is definitely not a Face of the Brand guy at this point.  Those promo segments are going to be brutal.

I feel like I need to go back and watch the tag title match to see if they worked it so Roddy never touched UE.  I really don't remember.

He did hit O Reilly but it was like small and minor.  and I know he did a back breaker on him.

  15. Mother fuck that was a good ass match. Meltzer better be shitting stars all over Gargano and Ciampa because holy shit.

First and foremost, Gargano is top 5 in the company. No disputing that. This match had a Magnum-Tully feel from the get go since the The two were not being cute at all. Not one flip between any of them. It was literally a brawl. Bloodless carnage.  The heat that Ciampa got, you’d thought that he sniped Jesus after the resurrection or some shit. That is the testiment to Gargano’s acting and ability to relate to the crowd. I have never seen a crowd chant you deserve it when a dude gets powerbombed on concrete. Holy fuck this match. Then there were the little call back spots to DIY with Ciampa doing the patented knee and Gargano returning the favor later on. And then Ciampa using his tape to try to choke Gargano. But then Gargano stopped him and ended up getting the two tied together for this epic punch out. This was my favorite sequence because...I know it sounds like I am marking out but fuck you...it reminded me of Yu Yu Hakusho when the characters decided to tie up each others hands and punch the shit out of each other. And I always wanted that which is why I loved Eddie vs JBL in the Texas longhorn match or whatever the fuck. Anyways, this match was perfect. It was so perfect that the commentator literally screamed kick out after Ciampa did that top rope powerbomb Lungblower.

And this is what Vince will never understand. This rivalry had few words. There weren’t any catchphrases or stupid storylines. It was minimalist and tangibly  understandable. These guys are not the best talkers nor are they the most good looking. It is literally two best friends who aren’t anymore. When Gargano refused to use the crutch on a beaten and battered Ciampa and sat down Indian style and placed his arm around Ciampa. It was beautiful and a amazing call back to their CWC match.  And it made me care about the redemption of Ciampa. I honestly wanted Ciampa to just stop at that moment. I wanted Ciampa to stop being this vindictive spiteful character. But he didn’t and decided to use his knee brace to strike Gargano but he missed and Gargano caught him in the Garagano escape and then decided to get some comeuppance and used the kneebrace in a deathlock STF hold.

    This match was fucking magnificent.

  16. Nice front flip, but those kicks are shit. Turn that fucking pivot foot, Bryan. That little fucking pathetic ass pop when you kick the bag? Fuck is that? Throw your whole fucking hip in that shit you fucking hipster. I thought you were kicking fuckers heads in, not playing footsies with their foreheads. This is why you are B+.

In all seriousness though, Bryan looks really lean and I can’t wait to see him in that ring again.

  17. Murphy vs Kalisto

One of the best things on 205 has been Buddy fucking Murphy. That is all.

    Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins

Awesome match. Very athletic exhibition between the both of them. So yeah, if these guys want to come 205 Live, that would be great.

  18. I generally hate modern romance angles in the Wwe because Vince’s textbook misogyny always comes through in the end that the woman will always come away looking like a two-timer or something along those lines. And the men get the congratulatory trophy story boost that just makes their character better in a way that is meaningless  outside the trite projection of “hey x character hit that.” The women often become objects in his storylines instead of independent characters. There were other ways to make Dar’s character project that he is a goofy snobby  arrogant asshole that did not involve Alicia Fox, a character who has already been perceived by the fans as batshit and cantankerous.

  19. 205 Live in general has fucked up my top wrestling matches in WWE. I am almost always guaranteed to get a barn burner out of this show since the, as I like to call it, start of the Enlightenment. The only wrestlers I am not sold on in this show are Noam Dar and Davairi. The former is too mediocre and latter...I’ll be real about Davairi, I feel the dude is far more capable than what he has presented. Like we are all presently surprised by Murphy and how awesome he is, but Davairi feels like he is underperforming if that makes sense.

  20. Murphy was a surprise for me. It really makes you think who else in NXT is actually really good but got overshadowed by Indie talent.

As for Maverick’s promo, I am still ticked that Ali vs Alexander has been regulated to pre-show regardless this match will still the show if given time. It was the match that kicked off the improved 205 and set the standard(I still think that it was better than most of the matches in the tournament). The only tragedy is that it won’t be on the DVD and these guys won’t get any residuals.
