1. There were probably contracts signed guaranteeing a theatrical release. Doesn’t seem to be any way to replace Miller, they’re playing two roles.

The world coming out of test screening and plot leaks is that everyone is pretty good in the movie. The return of Michael Keaton, the debut of Supergirl. It’s amazing how Ezra Miller just fucked everything up after working on it for so long.

Rumor going around that DC is scrapping all other Superman projects and going back to Cavill:

Can't see it happening as long as Cavill still wants more money and pull. The Rock apparently wanted him back and they are both represented by Dani Garcia and they still couldn't come to an agreement.

  3. Really, I think this has been in the cards for a while because nothing was said about the Trench after it was announced and New Gods didn't really seem to be making much progress. I have seen Snyder fans up in arms over this which is kind of funny because they would have been super pissed if another Darkseid was on screen and it wasn't Snyder's.

Watching Zack Snyder's Justice League. It has become clear that not only does Zack Snyder not know what Hallelujah is about, but he also doesn't know what Song to the Siren is about.

See the thing about all the praise for this movie that's all over the Social Medias, is... if misogynistic scumbag Whedon had been given that much extra time and money to shoot extra scenes and rewrite and re-edit, and a four hour runtime, the released version would have been vastly superior to what it was.

Hallelujah was apparently Autumn Snyder’s favourite song and the artist that sings it during the credits sang it at her funeral.

Sure, Whedon could have came up with something better if he was working from scratch. Cyborg might not be in it though.

We haven’t talked about the Zatanna movie or Helen Mirren playing a villain in Shazam 2!

  5. I understand the complaint that the first two hours or so of Zack Snyder’s Justice League is slow. Personally, I didn’t mind it on my first viewing. There’s still a lot of new stuff here and I really loved Cyborg’s story which was completely cut from the theatrical release. The music by Junkie XL during that part is also really fantastic. The scenes that we have seen before are all just better in every way. They look better, sound better, and are expanded so they make sense or give the characters a higher purpose. Take the finale, for example. In the theatrical cut, Flash saves the Russian family and is thrown around by Steppenwolf. In Snyder’s film, he plays a massive part in saving the day. I don’t think we’ll get a JL 2 but we weren’t supposed to get this either, I certainly wouldn’t complain. I want more Darkseid, more Knightmare scenes, more heroes, more character development. Give me all of it. 8.5/10

  6. It's such a weird, weird situation. I don't think we'll get JL 2 but fuck, I don't want to say anything for sure when it comes to DC. Zack has said he wants to do a very small movie next and then sci fi. He's also said that the studio considers the theatrical version as canon. Whatever canon is at this point.

    And there you go.

Spoiler, the movie ends the exact same way, except there's a cliffhanger for a sequel you'll never get.

All ribbing aside though, do these Snyder marks really think they're getting something that dramatically different than the story they already saw? It's the same plot outline, but now it's padded out to 4 hours. It's not like it's suddenly going to make more sense, look better, or have a different and better ending.

Also, let's just go back to when JL come out and say there was no meddling from the studio, Snyder's daughter didn't die, and Whedon was never involved. I can't begin to think of what a monumental flop a 4 hour theatrical release would have been. 3 hours is incredibly long and Endgame is the only movie that made it feel like 3 hours was a breeze. As much as I love Return of the King, even that thing is heavily padded out. I recently watched the extended cut of the Hateful Eight, but my wife and I watched it over the course of 4 nights spread out over a couple weeks. There's no way I could have watched 4 hours of that in the theater.

But this is split out into chapters or whatever so I guess now you get Snyder's full Rand-ian vision of the DC cinematic universe. Insert gif of John Oliver saying "Cool" here.

I mean, something that is being said in reviews is yes, the film does look better. And Cyborg is being talked about as a highlight and his story was completely missing from the Whedon version.

  8. The Dani scene I was talking about with the bad dialogue...

...is her future war scene and it’s soooooo bad and forced.

    “Yeah well fuck fate!”

This didn’t help the actress, the character or anyone who was already against her for replacing John Connor.

The people that hate this movie really hate it and it’s kind of pathetic. Constantly going on about it being woke, calling Grace transgender. I do like how they sign their posts
#ForJohn
, you know..a quote from the movie they hate.

Not that they have anything to worry about since the movie is bombing.

  9. The opening scene of Terminator: Dark Fate is upsetting a lot of people but for me, it was too quick to make much of an impact.

The cast is really strong for the most part. Mackenzie Davis is a welcome addition and it’s great to see Linda Hamilton back. This is easily Arnold Schwarzenegger’s best work in the franchise since T2. I kind of loved the Rev 9 as a a machine. It feels like what the T-X should have been. It’s hard for Gabriel Luna to follow in the footsteps of Arnold and Robert Patrick but he does a good job. Natalia Reyes plays a character (and actress) that is still trying to find her footing here. There’s one scene particular that is quite bad, the dialogue does not help.

The action is pretty good, but the end sequence is a bit too over the top for my tastes. It’s literally a combination of all the previous Terminator movies, A-Team and the Fast & Furious franchise.

Much like the end sequence, the story is rehashing what has come before it. The future has changed but the past plays out much the same. Still, the leads do a good job pulling it forward. Their performances and the majority of the action scenes made it enjoyable for me. 7/10

  10. They screened it at the Alamo Drafthouse. They were supposed to show T2 and twenty minutes of Dark Fate but surprised people by showing Dark Fate in its entirely. Most reviews are calling it solid and comparing it to The Force Awakens. Praise for Linda Hamilton and Mackenzie Davis.

You mean how like the common talk before the movie was released was that Joker was basically an incel whose motivation was based on his hatred of women. Welcome to the internet, where anyone who wants a movie to fail will use any talking point possible to push the narrative there direction.

That’s exactly what a friend asked me if that’s what the movie is about after I saw it.

  12. I’m going for a third time on Tuesday with some co-workers. I know they want to let these directors do their own thing but man, it would be nice for Joaquin to stick around for a while. If the Pattinson Batman takes off just throw him in there. He doesn’t even have to be Arthur Fleck.

  13. Hello. I saw Joker last night and I loved it.

My fear based on early word was that he would either be too sympathetic or they would display him as a hero figure. Thankfully, neither are the case. I did have some sympathy for him early on but that quickly disappears when he you see he's a very, very bad person. A friend asked me if he was a sexist incel, I don't really know where that comes from.

Joaquin Phoenix should obviously get an Oscar nomination, I'd like to see Hildur Guðnadóttir get one as well for the amazing score.

    God damn.

Star Wars again laughing at how poor MCU and DCEU are in comparison. That shot of Luke walking out of the rebel base was breathtaking.

Just a great film all round.

The humour felt very Marvel and they are under the same umbrella so.....

I liked the movie but what a waste Snoke turned out to be. And your big idea for one of your new heroes was terrible looking CG intergalactic casino horse racing? Seriously, I almost fell asleep during Finn’s scenes. How was I supposed to care/ not be annoyed when they kept splicing his shit in between Luke and Rey?

  15. There are two mid or post credits scenes, both of which have leaked and are pretty fucking great.

There's another really big scene that leaked as well, CGI looks poor. If this scene was part of the reshoots, I can't imagine they had too much time to work on it. Still, I really liked this scene.

I'm still really excited to see it tomorrow.
