Well, the conference call going on right now will probably answer some of that. I think Iole and Leonard Ellerbe confirmed that info will be known over the next few days.

2015 Non-Event General MMA Talk Thread
Elsalvajeloco replied to Elsalvajeloco's topic in BOXING & MMA
Right now, UFC.com (at least the mobile site) has the Krakow and Adelaide shows as Fight Pass events. I think if the level of UFC on FS1 ratings stays at a certain level (ideally 750k - 900k avg.), I wouldn't rule out more afternoon shows on the channel. The Fairfax show will be a telling one because that's really one of the few shows that doesn't favor west coast viewers including when they changed the PPV time years back. -

UFC Fight Night 60 did a good rating, but something weird happened. The peak was Daniel Kelly vs. Patrick Walsh at 1.07 million viewers. Yeah, MMA fans care more about possibly the worst fight this year than Shlemenko vs. Manhoef.

JDS will probably replace Cain if he gets injured and it likely be for the undisputed belt. Also, it would be stupid to waste one of those fights in Mexico. Anyway, I think they're working on Melendez vs. Alvarez for 188. I don't think they give a shit because they can sell tickets regardless. -

Helwani just confirmed JBJ/Rumble, Weidman/Belfort, Cowboy/Khabib for UFC 187 (5/23). Helwani also just said Phil Davis' contract has expired and he may be a free agent. Condit/Alves may be made in May or June. -
This was when Encarncao asked like 4 or 5 questions in a row. Last time I checked, said places were still open for business.

Hence, the press conference. I don't think they're fielding proposals from Steve's Body Waxing and Lumber Emporium Testing Supplies Company. I expect more answers and stories to come from this.

They admitted as such they aren't hiring some random company like last time. Epstein admitted their biggest mistake was not aligning with a USADA when the Cung Le/Macau thing went down. Now they are at a point where they can't afford to save money on testing.

Yeah, that was a very interesting aspect of it. I think that was part of the Q&A portion with Encarncao where Jack asked how the commissions would go along with the 3rd party testing failure. There is going to be a point where someone is not going to have a license with NV or CA (like Nick recently or an older fighter who has to reapply), fails a test, and the UFC has to punish them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem with that is those commissions don't have the power to suspend anyone who doesn't have a license with them. So the only thing I can see is the fighter not applying for a license while under UFC suspension and then having to obtain one afterwards. It would like the same as Ashlee Evans-Smith having to submit a clean test BEFORE being able to even apply for a license.

Lorenzo (and Dana) actually hinted that it could be 4 year ban. Someone stated (Dana IIRC) that they know if a fighter is suspended nine months, he/she is basically only missing one fight. Dana used the example of a 28 year fighter potentially getting a 4 yr ban could be a career ender. Epstein mentioned that the co-main/main eventer testing could start as soon as 10 weeks out ideally so the results can be expedited. So they suspect Aldo, McGregor, Lawler, and Rory would be the first ones subjected to this despite the actual program being implemented starting on 7/1.

It should be noted that Jack Encarncao basically had his own little mini-interview with Dana, Lorenzo, COO/General Counsel Lawrence Epstein. I found that amusing. The other media people like Lance Pugmire, who mentioned he didn't get to ask anything, were not amused.
