  1. Well, of course it's not exclusive to the upper crust because you're going to get the bootstraps speech at any income level. The bougie black people in my family are just the folks I don't fuck with come Thanksgiving and Christmas. People will step over and on each other to get and keep that managerial position that some white person gave him or her. I think it's dangerous when it relates to the black Boule because white people (or people who identify as white) can use them as a surrogate to say shit they would be called racist for saying. Anytime the media trots out some person like Lil Wayne (I admit a bad person for this example since the Boule would shy away from someone like this) to say something mind numbingly stupid, we can't be surprised because the whole thing is based around, "See _____ said it so it must validate this message". The best thing you can do is just not agree with that bullshit and counter with, "Instead of giving me and everyone else the bootstraps story again, why don't you create programs and jobs for black people from your particular background? In addition, why don't you try to alleviate their conditions by helping build homes and communities instead of waiting for gentrification that displaces your people?" You might shatter their brain. Everyone can waste time with the talk and not with the walk.
  2. Ok, that makes enough sense. I had a brief "waitafuckingminute" moment when we reached the "ah-ha!" portion of the film. I was just making sure it wasn't this deus ex machina thing.
  3. The prelim undercard has been fairly decent. Some notes: - Razak Alhassan spoiled the debut of Charlie Ward. I dunno why Bellator chose not to sign Alhassan and have him fight on their early December card and just let him go to the UFC as an injury replacement. He's a very solid prospect as this performance showed. - Johns-Kwak was pretty fun to watch. Johns cut a funny promo afterwards and asks Sean Shelby to give him someone easier. - Dudieva-Reneau was ok. Dudieva really needs to work on her cardio. Seems like she only fight in spurts. Reneau would be more intriguing to watch if she was younger. She's basically an older woman who fights like someone just introduced to the sport (which is what she is to be fair). She has some tools (especially in top position), but it's hard to watch someone fight like a raw prospect when you know the top of the division has more athleticism and skills. Well, Marion did call out Bethe so I would be fine with that fight. - Zak Cummings could be a decent welterweight gatekeeper. He won with a nifty straight armbar. - Ledet did what he needed to do against Godbeer. Sidenote: if anyone ever wanted to do a Riddick Bowe biopic, Ledet has to get the role of Jorge Luis Gonzalez. He has the semi shag in the back and everything. - Elmose vs. Cooper was decent, but I think suffered the same as the previous women's contest. I think Cooper is okay as a fighter, but once she gets into the meat of 115, it's going to be really tough. Cooper has to find something that separates her from the pack of other young fighters at 115. If she doesn't, she will be lost in the shuffle. - I think it's time to get Kevin Lee some top fighters at 155. I think he can win against some tough guys in the division. - Horiguchi won convincingly against Bagautinov. Fun fight and good performance from Horiguchi. - Marshman had a good performance against Cedenblad. Cedenblad was trying to get him down and keep him there, but Marshman just starched him when it was there for any significant time. That's what he will need to do if he wants to be a contender at middleweight while he improves his TD defense.
  4. After living in the deep south my whole life, I can say the amount of women who have to wear lacefronts after years of damage is absurdly high. When your edges are so jacked up that you got the George Jefferson thing going on, you gotta move to something else.
  5. IMO I think money just reinforces the person you were planning to be. It's like when people use to pass around that idea that college produces nothing but liberals like people aren't able to have political ideas before they turn 17/18 or weren't brought up to believe something by their parents or guardians. College/secondary education just steers you to the place you were already heading. I think there is a clear difference between someone like Murphy and say like a black doctor, dentist, banker who started off with having money because they were raised by black doctors, dentists, bankers, etc. Murphy got to a stratosphere that black entertainers in Hollywood never reach or hardly reach. I think what happened is he saw that a good amount of criticism came from black people, and just went into a space where he knew he didn't have to be the guy everyone wanted him to be. It's kinda like Chappelle's headspace when the show was abruptly done. It gets to a certain point you feel you have achieved enough where you don't have to be magical comedy button that has to be switched on and off. That's why I get pissed when some random white personality like Bill Simmons wants to "help" Eddie Murphy come back. Fucker, you don't control whether some person comes back or not. You don't have ownership over someone's talent. Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure it is people like you that help contribute to fact that entertainers like Dave Chappelle and Eddie Murphy chose to enjoy their privacy along with their wealth. Another part of that is I never heard a story of Eddie treating any black people in a shitty manner. Every black entertainer I've heard always talks about him being down-to-earth and pretty humble. He has went to comedy clubs and supported black comedians by giving them advice. I think Eddie never wanted to be like Cosby who always told black people to do this and that, and that's what he railed against in his standup. He would be contradicting himself if he decided to do what Cosby did. On the other hand, you get someone like a Raven Symone, who was getting fat checks at a young age, who has went out of her way to say she isn't black and basically used her platform to denigrate black people. I mean someone like Michael Jackson, who was rich at a very young age, never did that and never chose to do that despite everything thrown his way in terms of criticism. Moreover, he was a very savvy businessman and did business moves that every current black musician/producer/mogul would never ever dream of making. My point being is that no matter whether someone started with money or ended up with it, that person will find a way to be an asshole or repugnant piece of shit if he or she were already built to be that (whether it's via upbringing, friends, or other influences). I think the biggest problem with the black Boule (whether it's the black doctors, dentists, surgeons, bankers or celebs that identify with that) is that you cannot make it a class issue when white people (over multiple centuries mind you) have never recognized black people to be separated into classes. White people don't recognize this talented tenth and five percenter bullshit or black elitism UNLESS you want to buy into white supremacy exclusively. End of story. That's why this intersectional shit is so hilarious. Go ask a rabid Trump supporter or the "alt-right" about your personal experiences and problems. Let's see how that turns out.
  6. Has any mainstream project ever talked about the black Boule (which supreme basically described accurately up above)? I mean I heard someone on a podcast/radio show say The Inkwell did, but I haven't seen that in a long time. I mean now it's not even a dirty little secret anymore among black people of status. The reason why they treat black people like shit is basically that's the only way they can be preferred by whites. There's no really old black money, extremely powerful families in the United States, and we've been in what is the modern lower 48 as early since at least the mid 16th century. Yeah, you have rich, black people but they don't pass down the culture and tradition that would make what they do with that money revolutionary. So basically, all they pass down is green money that changes in value every now and then and how to vacation in the Hamptons. It goes back to like the Blue Vein society where any possible method to separate one group of black people based on a specific set of characteristics from another is preferred as long as you don't run afoul of white people. What I took from that episode is that you can't just purchase your history because if you could, it wouldn't mean shit. Moreover, you can't mold that history into your own narrative.
  7. Also, he's moronic enough to confuse being pro-black with being militant, which I am pretty sure means nothing unless he means "black person who won't sit down and take suffering". If that is indeed the definition, then yes, I am a militant black. A Mexican buddy of mine had a tattoo, and I needed a username at 2 in the morning like 11 years ago while I was very sleepy. If I thought I was going to do more than just lurk in the MMA and the wrestling folder, I would have probably come up with something better. I like how we all still can't understand respecting people's personal space for one, and two, that looking and admiring without being a complete weirdo is the best thing to do no matter the ethnicity and/or race. We're talking about people and not suede couches. Compliment and keep it pushing. The money is one issue. You also better be ready to have those scavenger hunts in the morning for your personal hygiene items. This is why I suggest you have two bathrooms if you can afford it because at least one of them will look like the result of a mortar attack.
  8. Just came back from seeing Arrival. I really enjoyed the film, but can someone explain this one thing:
  9. Because I can keep idiots like you from looking stupid and double posting. Also, I am allowed to get mad when some stranger on an internet forum randomly private messages me and wants me to secretly advocate for white supremacy. So yeah, both of those things.
  10. Oh I forgot, Mike "The Truth" Jackson (or Michael Jackson since that's his real name) who I am pretty sure is the only person to fight on a UFC show AND cover the very same show (don't think Josh Samman got to do it before he passed away). Granted he lost in like 15 seconds, he did ask Mickey Gall about how did he beat him. That was amazing and symbolic of the whole process of CM Punk fighting in the UFC. I like Mike though so add him to the good column with Andreas Hale.
  11. Shit, I forgot about the whole motorboat thing. That was pretty damn strange. Karyn Bryant is basically MMA Sage Steele TBH. White husband and all. When she was still doing MMA H.E.A.T., her husband (and cameraman) was the douchebag who almost got into a fight with another MMA media member before a weigh-in (a quick Google search shows UFC 143: Condit vs. Diaz) and shouted "I train full contact four times a week". That's somehow worse than "I train UFC, bro". Off the top of my head, the only black people who cover MMA in any significant manner are Franklin McNeil (who is absolutely horrendous) and Andreas Hale. Hale and his friend, whose name escapes me right now, do a podcast on both boxing and MMA among other things. So that's a grand total of four people counting Karyn Bryant. That's two terrible people, one person who I can probably say is good, and a person I don't know enough about to give an honest opinion.
  12. When it happened, it just highlighted the lack of black people working in MMA media because just about everyone covered it as another one of Chael's wacky antics. That's the coverage it got in MMA circles IIRC instead of "Remember when white people use to actually keep black people as pets and have them as part of a carnival sideshow? Isn't this wildly inappropriate?" like it should have been covered. Then again, that's asking a whole lot from people who only want to write about a potential Mayweather vs. McGregor bout that's never going to happen.
  13. Not really because those cities don't control Mike Evans. Neither does Sage Steele and her "get in line, negro" message. They're not going to trade Mike Evans because he didn't stand. They would be pissed for a second, and then go back to not giving a shit. Also, I'm not surprised you're the person to try to put the "fair" spin on this.
  14. I think any white man would be a problem, whether it was Chael, her husband, or anyone else. It would be about as bizarre and demeaning. I thought the "Swirl" movement/help other folks start interracial dating exclusively thing wouldn't go past Youtube advice videos and blogs/forums. However, I guess ESPN personalities are allowed to espouse this message as long as it shits on black people in the end.
  15. She went after Mike Evans for protesting the national anthem. This didn't sit well with black people. Instead of just letting the story disappear, she doubled down by posting a rant using "diversity" as a front to talk about how black people should praise white people (specifically white people like her husband) for marrying black people and how black people shouldn't tear down other black people. So she basically went after black people for doing what she did. This is also coming from a woman who let a white man pet her hair on television like she was an exotic, wild animal.
  16. Reminder: Teruto Ishihara is fighting this weekend and being let loose on the streets of Belfast. Mothers, protect your daughters.
  17. McCall vs. Seery is off due to McCall falling ill. This will most likely put two years between Ian McCall's last UFC fight.
  18. I think that was just a one off deal because of Fedor. The tape delayed, digest version of the show didn't exactly do gangbusters on Spike. I am surprised AXS hasn't tried to make a play for CroCop/Wand III and the 12/31 show though. I say the latter simply because people will probably stay up to watch out of curiosity once the UFC 207 festivities end.
