  1. RIP That show that was on after Breaking Bad but wasn't nearly as good.

Small Town Security is still around and even got a second season. That's incredible.

Anyway, the Greek/vaguely ethnic female detective on LWS was kinda good looking to me and the least forced character. She was the highlight of that confusing piece of shit.

  2. Batman Returns was a fabolous mess (and enormous part of my childhood) just for the reason they made Michelle Pfeiffer into a bird eating cosplay lunatic. Not even Catwoman but just some crazy, hot lady. If you're going to go way into left field, that's where you go. Not whatever the fuck Jim Carrey was doing in Forever.

  3.

Bader is right where he should be. He will lose to upper tier guys in ways that will allow them to get title shots and destroy lower tier gatekeepers. That's what you want out of someone like him.

Strictly speaking, doesn't that make him the gatekeeper? He keeps out the people who don't belong, but doesn't quite eat at the top table himself.

I guess you could say that, but the turnover for gatekeepers in MMA is much higher now than six years ago. A guy can go from being a title contender to out of the UFC in a matter of two fights (see: Grispi, Josh). Gatekeepers in boxing would be able to stay on television for at least five or six years based on one or two performances. Ike Quartey fought Oscar and Fernando Vargas, took a long hiatus, and then came back to fight on HBO again. Also-ran would probably be a better term for Ryan Bader.

  4. Apparently, with over half the movie done, there is serious consideration of scrapping the whole thing and doing a complete re-write. Does anyone think that this may be the last in the series?

If they move off the July 11 date and move it to spring 2015 (or whenever), I think it would be easier to continue raking in the cash. It's possible that they felt it wouldn't be in good taste to kill off the character mid-movie and/or edit the film Wagons East style for continuity purposes. Giving his friends and family time to grieve and allowing the screenwriters to pen something better as a tribute is smarter for the franchise's health.

They run into a problem with availability, though.

If you're talking about release dates, then see my post above.

    More about filming dates, really.

Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez ain't exactly in movies left and right. The Rock would be the only problem, but they can figure something out.

  6. 2015 is going to be a killer year as far as having to compete against other big franchise movies, having the movie next year was why they were green lighting it so fast to avoid all of those movies the following year.  But then again delaying the movie at all basically puts it into 2015 since these movies are the definition of summer movies, you're not going to release a F&F movie in November.

Fast and Furious is going to make its money. Once they find a date (and I believe there are plenty left in 2015), other movies will get out of the way and move somewhere else. It has already happened for other established franchises in the last few months.

  8. The UK shows won't be that much of a problem. By the time those get up and going, college football will be long over.

I think with the Asian shows, they may have to go the Top Rank undercard route of finding local draws rather than actual, legit talent. If they are picking guys that haven't fought MMA in a few years to coach TUF Nations or whatever the fuck it's called, then it's obvious they trying to be committed to a local international fanbase rather than us. You have your obvious drawbacks, but it's something I hinted back on the board a couple years ago. You can't make an indelible mark on a place running one show a year. We're far removed from having a UFC version of Tyson vs. Tubbs in Tokyo, but they're finally understanding they have to do the job the local national promotions can't.
