  1. That spot where Darby did a roll over the ring steps, and Swerve ran up it and hit Darby with a kick... *chefs kiss* Perfect spot of that style.

And darby, please.. I want you to still be wrestling in 2025.. aw forget it, that superplex/brainbuster on the apron? OW.

  2. So in a few weeks, Brentford will be the Lineal Premier Champion when the season starts, while the Community Shield winner will be the King of Premier League (Provisional) champion

Yes, I stole the King of Pro Wrestling thing from NJPW 🙂

  3. Paul Mullin gets absolutely cleared out by the Man United goalie (would have been a clear red in league play) , and was down for a while. Hopefully it's not too serious, but while he was up and about, he was taking oxygen.

  4. Saw that night six had an injury cut a match short (nothing major), so Naito-Yano was heavy on the stretching out due to shenanigans to lengthen the card. And truthfully, if you were going to tell two wrestlers "Hey, can you stretch your match an extra ten minutes without doing much but keeping the fans entertained", Naito and Yano would be the two.

  5. Since Mark Briscoe is out, let's go with:

CM Punk, FTR, Keith Lee, Dustin vs Samoa Joe, Jay White, Juice Robinson, Powerhouse Hobbs, Ricky Starks

    Book it, Uncle Tony.

edit: and one thing that I'd suggest instead of the obvious "Heels always win the toss to have the man advantage", is 5 minutes one v one, and then the #2 wrestlers simultaneously enter, and every three minutes after that one wrestler form each team enters simultaneously.  You'd get that stare off between rivals each time. And no weapons allowed until the Match Beyond.

edit2: If you don't want the BMMSM of Keith Lee and Powerhouse going to town on each other, replace Hobbs with Swerve Strickland.

  6. I think leaving the cage area only counted as auto dq in nxt war games. I remember thinking "Wait, is that  new? The first time they mentioned it (I think in the Undisputed Era first match?). For all the ref knew, they could be going to the back and getting new toys. Without the submission or surrender, the match continues. (Although I could see Claudio saying something like "It was bad enough you left, but you couldn't even be arsed to tell the ref you quit, and take that upon yourself, so you left Jon to do it when Yuta was being choked out. You're not only a quitter, you refused to take consequences for your own actions"

  7. Ok, here's my full list of complaints about the Main Event:

    1) Ibushi needed to get more reps before this. Someone said this was his third match of 2023. It looked like it.
    2) I get you want a super-violent match, but sometimes, less is more. We had 8 or so spots involving the bed of nails any one of which BY ITSELF would be a holy shit moment, and it was wasted because they never let the impact of "HOLY SHIT, A BED OF NAIILS!" breathe for more then 3 seconds., and we missed out on the classic deathmatch spot over fighting just above the bed of nails while one tries to rake the other's forehead on them.
    3) We had glass, nine billion thumbtacks and the bed of nails. It was just too much. It's supposed to be a FIGHT, not a prop war.
    4) Big one here. Whoever was the tv producer for this one needs to be told if they ever fuck up a match like this again, they're fired. There was at LEAST a half dozen spots where a holy shit moment started, but they cut away from the spot, only to comeback afterwards. PAC deserved more for that double footstomp from the cage stanchions. They missed the tacks-shoe for about 20-30 seconds, etcetera
    5) They needed a few more seconds to breathe on the Takeshita leaving, something like Callis saying "This is not happening. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING, I gotta get him out of there..."

  8. Just now, The Natural said:

I miss the WarGames and Hell in a Cell of old that either didnt or barely use weapons.

I think that the last.. twenty minutes? Thirty?  of the match was like the end scene of Rollerball (original). just completely messed up rings, no real non-prop spots.

  9. And whoever was the director of this match needs to stop taking lessons from WWE. I think there was at least 5-6 spots where the spot started, and they cut to a different view of the fight. I get it, it's complicated and crazy, but it drove me mad about how they'd start a holy shit moment and cut away elsewhere, only to cut back at the end of the spot.

  10. 1 minute ago, The Natural said:

This match used bed of nails for the first time in AEW history.

And the second, third, fourth, and fifth.. I lost track.

They turned it into just another weapon. (and if you're going to go that way and use it, why not have the visual of them fighting while one tries to rake the other's head with the nails.)

    It's just too much.

  11. .. Ok, I think I've found my point where I just say "That's too much". It turned into a torture porn at some point in there. Ibushi did NOT make a great impression his first time out, he looked slow, sloppy and I think he legit potatoed his strikes that he wasn't whiffing. (or maybe I just had too high expectations, but he did not look good to me)

  12. Jagged Alliance 3: A less-forgiving X-Com game (where weapons and tools need constant repair, taking any amount damage means you have wounds which will reduce your characters max HP until healed (and it takes up very limited supplies to do the healing), and there's no shop in sight, so you'll be needing to be very frugal with weapons and equipment. Being out in the open means you'll be shot (and thus wounded) very easily.

The system is a bit opaque (by default, the game will NOT tell you the percentage to hit, (there is an official mod) and it's not clear you can spend extra AP to Aim to have a better chance to hit. The people are humorous, and the AI is at least decent, it attempted to spread out so I couldn't flank easily.
