The first "Blast from the Past" article, featuring 1989's "Sword of Aragon" by Strageic Simulations, Incorporated.

Following up on my Digital Downloads post from early yesterday morning, I asked some of my friends at another messageboard where THEY were on digital downloads, and got some really good feedback.

Did they just run a trick play to go up 35-0?
Yup, a near Fumblerooski!
Iowa should just leave the the stadium now. Let's get another team in their place

.. Will somebody stop the damn match!
-
yeah, was just coming to post "That sound you hear is millions of remotes clicking away from the 2016 Rose Bowl"
-
I said it on my 16 for 16 series of blogs, I will be shocked if they actually hit that release date, or any in 2016.

A new Wot I'm Playing and a long form article on how this time, the digital download market will probably stick (and what that means for Gamestop and other such retailers. Hint: It's time to diversify)

I won't link the post here this time, but I have a number of things that are going up in the next week:
A series of posts chronicling the history of Star Wars games, all the way from the 1983 arcade game, to the recent release of Star Wars Battlefront. (I expect this to be several posts, there are a LOT of Star Wars games to cover)
Keeping with the Star Wars theme, we will have our first “Blast from the Past” review, BioWare’s Knights of the Old Republic!
As a special bonus, we will have a truly OLD SCHOOL Blast from the Past, a retrospective of 80’s game designer Strategic Simulations, Incorporated (SSI), a company I spent about 1,000,000 hours playing their games growing up. (Sword of Aragon, AD&D Gold Box Series, Roadwar 2000, the list goes on and on)
A review of Hard West (those of you who were on for the Twitch stream got to watch, and there was much death.. especially at the beginning where I had trouble figuring out how to set up ambushes in setup mode)
As well as the second Twitch stream.
Oh, and a quick note: I have set up a Patreon account if folks want to support an8bitmind.com, we have goals including upgrading my internet connection for better streaming ability.
-
Cut it a bit short, as having problems connecting to twitch, but I will do it again next week.. hopefully can get some of the DVDVR crew playing Rocket League with me!
-
watch live right now, I'm going to be looking into stream options for future ones. (Normally, I play music while I do stuff, but that would get my recordings muted on copyright grounds)
-
Yeah, that's pretty rough. I don't think there was anyway to prevent from being shot repeatedly. XCom is less stealth, but yeah, plenty of bang bang.
-
-
Don't forget, tonight at 8 PM is the six hour 8 Bit Mind twitch stream. I'll be playing Hard West (XCom/Jagged Alliance style game set in the Old West with supernatural elements), and other games tonight!

A popular X-com mod team’s creators form their own studio, Splatoon reaches the end of DLC but still will get balance updates, Far Cry Primal gets.. uncomfortable (but somehow avoids the AO rating of doom), and Mass Effect:Andromeda news..

No vidya game news today (I may put up another post later), but the good, the bad, and the ugly of a trip to the local theater to see Star Wars Episode VII. Don't worry for two reasons.. 1) I won't spoil it for any of you if you haven't seen it yet (but do so asap), and the bad and ugly refer to the "hilarity" that is Fozzie on an icy surface.

We begin the post-Christmas dead zone as winter finally shows up in New England... with a new Harmonix game, and a game named Hardware:Rivals that doesn't involve console fanboys beating the holy beejezus out of each other for a live studio audience. Unfortunately.

I think this was as one sided a domination as you could ever get between the Big Eight Nations
50 over match, Sri Lanka @ New Zealand.
Sri Lanka 117 all out (in only 28 overs of the scheduled 50)
New Zealand 118 for none out (in 8.2 overs!)
http://www.espncricinfo.com/new-zealand-v-sri-lanka-2015-16/content/story/955653.html
The video is just wow., the score actually flatters Sri Lanka a bit, as the New Zealand announcers get a little bored "Oh, there's another six..."

I wonder if Belichick is taking a bullet for Slater's screw up

Now that the Pats debacle of Overtime is over..
getting back to the Pats vs Panthers..
Records set in 2007 by the pats:
- Most Games Won, Regular Season, 16
- Only team in NFL history to be 18–0 entering the Super Bowl
- Most Points, Season, 589 (surpassed by the 2013 Denver Broncos)
- Highest Point Differential, Season, +315
- Most First Downs, Season, 391
- Touchdowns Scored, Season, 75 (surpassed by the 2013 Denver Broncos)
-
Pats picked themselves on that play
-
If Carolina wins the Super Bowl they are at least better than the '07 Pats who did not win anything..
maybe Pats homerism, but I disagree. Not to take anything away from the Panthers, but the..
Wait, what just happened? I'll get back to that later.

and damnit, the '72 dolphins get to pop the fucking champagne again.
