  1. IPL 2015 in doubt, as two of the 8 teams are facing a two year suspension from the IPL due to spot fixing and betting claims.

edit: the teams themselves haven't been suspended, the owners have.. so they'd have to sell the teams or they couldn't participate.

  2. One of the true characters of the game. Hope God doesn't tell him "Hey, you've had luck keepin the Tooz on a leash down on earth.. mind keeping him from wreckin Heaven?"

(read his book.. one of the funniest stories was when he got dismissed from Alabama's football team after incurring the wrath of Bear Bryant. He figured "Aw, it don't mean nothin' cuz it's the offseason. I'll lay low and just show up for the first day of practice and all will be forgiven". That plan changed when he got a telegram from another famous Alabama QB, Joe Namath. It was simple "HE MEANS IT".)

And my hands hurt typing that all out, and my spell checker has gone on strike.

  4. Dempsey got three games for ripping up the ref's notebook. Kinda surprised, the minimum punishment for assault (which includes "Destroying or damaging the referee's equipment") is six games. Eligible for the Gold Cup, let's see what Klinsi does.

  5. Upset brewed. And it looks like Neymar got a red card in the post match scrum (he was already going to miss one game due to second yellow in the tourney due to the first half yellow), so he may miss a knockout game.

  6. Greece loses to the Faroe Islands.. again.

How far hath the "mighty" fallen.

Quick Edit: Faroe Islands has six points, all from games against Greece, who have a mere 2 points from their six games

  7. Fixed the link.

And one of the reasons you didn't see it is because the FIFA broadcasters turned up the green contrast to avoid it being seen (and the game was already behind closed doors due to racist chants)

  8. Today in Jack Warner: Ultimate Slimeball (From ESPN News Feed)

Jack Warner has been investigated by US Prosecutors over the disappearance of money meant for victims of the Haiti Earthquake. He raised $750,000 when he visited in 2010. He denies the allegations of corruption  and bribery.

  9. I'm waiting for Sepp to tell everyone he's in the waste management business.

Jesus, if this happened in literally any other profession in the world, the boss would fall on his sword...but this guy? You nearly have to admire his audacity.

And now that he's re-elected, Blatter is on the attack:

"No-one is going to tell me that it was a simple coincidence this American attack two days before the elections of FIFA. It doesn't smell right. This has touched me and FIFA.

"Not only did they try to denigrate me but also they used the moment to say, 'This is the time to go'. Then it was said, 'We are going to boycott the congress'. But where are we? Where is the sportsmanship? There are signs that cannot be ignored. The Americans were the candidates for the World Cup of 2022 and they lost.

"The English were the candidates for 2018 and they lost, so it was really the English media and the American movement.

"If they have a financial crime that regards American citizens, then they must arrest these people there and not in Zurich when we have a congress in Zurich.

"The United States, it is the main sponsors of Hashemite kingdom [Jordan]. This corruption affair is between North America and South America. It was taken to Zurich and they say it is FIFA.''
