Gargano and Ciampa being on top? I'm right there with you, terrible idea.

This is what people wanted from Triple H WWE isn't it? Maybe not on here but for the most part, or am I that out of touch with WWE and how it's perceived?

  2. I want to see Andrade and Miro do well in AEW because it's pretty much the only modern promotion I watch with any regularity and those two are among the best in the world. They both rule and I love watching them do their thing. Seems like when you have two of the best in the world you should use them as such but that's just me. How many tv matches has Andrade won? Feuds? At least Miro is booked strong when he's on tv. Andrade isn't booked often enough and he is pretty much always losing. Hopefully Los Ingos helps move him and Rush up the card fast. Mox is going to need somebody to fight at the ppv. Andrade is the kind of guy you put in that position but it's likelier he is working the Lucha Bros alongside Rush at All Out. Los Ingos really ought to win. I would be okay with evil Penta trying to kill his brudda in the aftermath as that team has kinda run its course for now.

  3. I am getting back into Fire Pro starting from scratch (this is take, hmmm, 15?). So I've been going through the '90s AJPW roster. A number of editors are uploading edits that are roughly in the dnmt style. I've been adjusting those that aren't so they at least have the parameters and rough CPU logic to go w/. Massively time consuming but when you get those 20-30 minute matches with two wrestlers working as the real deals do, it's beautiful and worth it imo.

AFAIK dnmt is LarryXDavid. I don't know how much time or patience you have, but Avenger really is prolific even if I prefer the dnmt logic. So I would recommend checking off "enable workshop editing" in the modpack 2.0 window and loading up Avenger edits and making changes to parameters and logic. Otherwise, I'd just stick to Avenger edits and maybe add crafted moves and parts crafts to his edits. Then you can save the edit to a new slot and unsubscribe, so should Avenger make updates your changes aren't lost. You don't need to move them from retired to edit them this way either. Not a great answer, I know. More and more people are creating edits with parts and move crafts in the dnmt mold, though many are still using Avenger's edits as bases. I haven't really tried combining them to see how badly they play together, but you mentioned they don't which sucks. Is it mostly just the parameters that create the poor meshing of dnmt and avenger edits? Or is it more CPU logic? Cuz parameters don't take long to mess with.

Nobody has done entire packs of edits yet sadly. Though Captain Howdy has some neat nostalgia collections you can mass subscribe to. They even have some modeled after action figures.

McMichael and MDKANE have some really well done moves that aren't necessarily finishers or fancy stuff. The chain wrestling guide below also gets you to install Zin5ki's moves and he's got a bunch of beauties. Here are some other good move makers, but there really are too many to list.

The modpack discord has all of Carlizilla's mods but when you go to install them, you'll just check off what you want. Sadly, there's little in the way of documentation and people in the discord channel will often be dismissive, ignore people asking questions, or surly. So, the scene is not that accepting of newbies sadly but if you're polite and patient you may get some help. If you have questions, I can try to help best I can. I'd recommend most of Carl's mods though some don't play well together (and he makes note of that in the installer). Extended move list is essential. You can basically add many moves to each slot, edit when they happen with logic similar to the game. So, for instance I have my Kawada edit always go for the normal folding powerbomb once before his "soulful" leaning one. There are also some incredible conditions you can set as well. You can have certain moves pulled off against specific opponents, styles of wrestlers, after they've exhausted other moves in their slot, their/their opponent's health, so many different things. I like using the "number of times used" gimmick in the extended move list then setting something like the corner clean break move at 99/99/99 logic and whatever else you want after that at 1/1/1. Then set the clean break to only happen once per match and the edit will go for it once, and if the logic is set up well it'll be early in the match, then after that they'll use whatever else you've got in there. Just make sure you have a move with at least 1 Logic frequency otherwise the game will freeze as the wrestler doesn't have anything to hit if you put it at 100 and they've reached maximum uses. You can also link priorities to each move within a slot, so if you want one thing to pin all the time you can, but you can change that for other moves in the slot or have them do something entirely different. Each move has a "can finish a match" checkbox, so if you don't want your edits winning with stuff they shouldn't you can check that off (just make sure you click on the move first then uncheck). I like unchecking a move but if it's a stronger move or a false finish having a priority slot to pin after so you can get more 2.9 counts. Extended move list is incredible and the best of the best. The crown jewel of the modpack imo.

The chain wrestling mod is really fucking great and I'm just starting to dabble. It took me about 15-20 minutes to follow dnmt's guide on it but it's so cool to see wrestlers go from hold to hold early on in a match (and yeah, you can omit wrestlers that shouldn't be chaining).

View's recovery taunt mod adds a lot of flavour to matches. It's on the main modpack discord under View's mods channel. You can have Flair flop, Misawa adjust his tight, or masked wrestlers adjust their masks.

I've also been using the 4th appearance slots for entrance gear. The alternate attires mod (both this and the extended move list are built right into the game, which is great. They bring up pop up menus in the mod window but you access them from in the edit menu) is nice. You can assign an appearance slot for entrances, delay entrances in smaller arenas (you have to use the entrance craft for bigger arenas with stages... will likely do that later), and adjust music for each slot you save. So you could have the same edit come out with two diff themes.

I check off stuff like refs don't bleed, headbutts can cause bleeding, lots of little options in the main modpack window. Some really neat stuff in there.

Love the custom bmg music, so i've been rocking old n64 aki music for in-game and their menu music and my favourite wrestler themes and wrestling show themes for the menu music. Can't listen to the default song anymore, man. Got a lil cheeky and threw in stuff like the GoldenEye pause music

Got a little carried away and forgot to answer the last question. There is an organizer function within Carl's mod where you can organize by edit points or move them around quicker than in game.

  4. Both Hayter and Takeshita use the brainbuster as false finishes (did Takeshita use it in DDT frequently? I don't remember). Hayter's been doing that since she showed up in AEW. I'm fine with it if it's a regular and important part of one's repertoire.

Fuck, that inverted brainbuster of Takeshita's is disgusting.

Is that what Excalibur was referring to as the Cinnadriver, I think it was?

  5. Wardlow really should be crushing pretty much everybody at the TNT level a la Goldberg and the US title. 5 minutes tops, he takes 75% of it. This is doing him little good.

Hayter/Rosa was good but the finish wasn't great. I mean, I'm glad they gave Hayter something that it was more a desperation type of pinfall than the Thunder driver but man.

Main event was balls to the wall greatness. Loved it. Had some really slick transitions and setups. The German no sell stuff isn't great but I found it to be less annoying here than in the Kingston match.

I don't at all agree with the notion put forth in the tweet as I'm really looking forward to the Emi trios whenever it airs, etc., and listening again, I can't be 100% sure, but that's what it sounds like to me around the 50 second mark here:

    Sounds like "we want something".

  7. Of his post-NXT run, the first thing that comes to mind is the Pentagon match from Impact. That rocked. Hair vs. mask, Slammiversary 2018.

Timestamped. There's a death match rematch that Impact posted on their youtube channel but it's not nearly as good, but maybe worth your time if you like this.

Oh... and the Tessa matches. ?

  8. Yeah, if the trademark for All Elite Women turns out to really be a show I think that would be fantastic. No, they don't have the best division in terms of raw talent, but it's hard to develop when:

    A) You don't get the reps.

    B) You're not given much of a platform to develop a character to mask or soften the blow of not having the best bell-to-bell skills.

    C) You're not put in interesting positions where you can build drama into your matches and angles.

A dedicated hour of TV or streaming once a week will help with all three of those things, I would imagine. We're already past the point of oversaturation, but if it's just streaming on YouTube or whatever, I would hope they'd replace one of the Dark/Elevation shows. Maybe we'll even get to see joshi work some meaningful matches.

And honestly, it's impressive that some of the women have really improved at the rate they have despite the above. Statlander in particular has come a long way.

  9. I get what is said with this not being the optimal moment for Hayter to win. She could use more momentum and character development but when you have an ice cold champ does it really matter? Rosa hasn't really evolved her character along at all since winning the title (when fighting off the sandbagging accusations are central to your champ...) and her matches have been rough with the exception of the tag match.

Other than Jade, nobody in the division has any real steam behind them. Even Baker feels stalled out. It sucks and Khan should be ashamed. I don't think the odds are remotely good of a switch but I want it just the same. You have the built in jealousy story to tell with Baker and obvious defenses against Storm and Rosa. I feel like Hayter and Storm are the best two featured women on the roster right now bell to bell in the last few months of TV (watching Deeb lately, I am not on that bandwagon. Her execution can be awkward and sloppy more than it should be for somebody called The Professor and the Martinez match was a real struggle with the two seemingly on different pages multiple times), so hopefully one of those two win it at All Out or Saturday, with Storm obviously the likelier of the two. They execute their moves with such gusto and force, it's awesome and neither really goes for overcomplicated stuff they can't pull off 99% of the time. Statlander is a third candidate but is stuck in the Cargill feud as second fiddle to Athena, so I don't see that happening any time soon.

I wish we had time traveling technology to bring in early 90s Esther Moreno. Been watching some of her work in Zenjo and she's fucking incredible. Mind-boggling. Lightning fast and so smooth in everything she does. Bounces like a maniac and is super sympathetic selling. What a great wrestler I had rarely seen prior to this. Shame she and Momoe Nakanishi never tagged or wrestled each other according to cagematch.

  10. I miss Jim Lampley calling boxing. Used to watch boxing with my grandfather quite a lot back in the '90s and Lampley's calls were a staple of that. Fond memories.

We've heard of Khan hosting executives at shows on numerous occasions, including most recently the episode with the MJF omghesshooting angle. I reckon if Khan understood that those particular executives didn't like the edgier, crash tv stuff he wouldn't have run such an angle on that episode in particular. Who knows what these discovery fucks are after though.

  11. I do feel like the mini games blend well with the more arcade focused approach of having fun with friends locally the game seems to be favouring. The casino chips minigame looks like ass tho. I know I had to adjust my expectations for what the game will be initially and am ready for a fun, fast paced game. The running grapple and grapple before the lockjaw are straight up Aki vibes. If it's a basic grapple/strike and matching reversal buttons for those two attacks like Aki, I'm golden. I enjoy the new 2k but the defense is a little over complicated. So if they can bring the pace and unpredictability of the Smackdown games and marry that to the solid mechanics of No Mercy, I think that's a real winning combination. As great as the Aki games are (and I still feel like vpw2 does Jr high flying matches better than any other game to date) they are a little slow in pacing.

  12. The discovery slashes are pretty awful but they are talking about focusing purely on unscripted content (uh, wrestling would count in that I think despite the obvious) at least for their streaming service. But isn't Dave right in that ESPN is about the only other major player that could offer them more money? But then AEW wouldn't be catered to like they've been with TBS/TNT. Is there another option that fits? Aew massively outperformed their rights fee and should get a raise but who knows now. Shit sucks. WWE sleep walks into two ludicrous deals that boggle the mind and AEW likely gets pennies on the dollar.

Is the stuff about killing projects near completion similar to The Producers as was joked about on twitter? Wtf is the point of that? Slimy stuff.

Ethan Page continues to do nothing for me as he takes TV time to shoot~! on the boss for not giving him TV time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure he's done this tired fucking gimmick of claiming to be underutilized everywhere he's been featured: EVOLVE for sure alongside ACH (who actually was underused), Impact I think, and now AEW. He's above average in pretty much every aspect and about right where he should be. It's also poor heel work when you get the audience cheering you (and also too similar to the much better mjf promo). Maybe he should have started with his glasses on so he could dramatically take them off halfway to make sure we knew he was serious now. Lmao.

  14. Please no babyface Young Bucks. I think I'll actually be pulling for Adam Cole to win a title ? so the Bucks can fuck up Page for their failure or something. Wouldn't hate it if the titles go to a less predictable team as the two obvious choices cancel each other out in some way. Cassidy is a star but always been on the periphery of the title scene. I get that the Best Friends aren't exactly peaking right now but I'd love to see them pull off an upset, however unlikely that is.

I was thinking the same thing, Matt, about a title eventually having to change at one of the next couple of Battle of the Belts shows or the concept is meaningless. Doubt they pull the trigger with Hayter despite the story beats between her and Baker being obvious and different from anything they've done to date. I do think that is a more interesting route than Hayter turning on Baker since that would be too similar to the Hobbs turn. People want to cheer a bad ass like Hayter too.

Edit:moving the discovery talk to the appropriate thread.

  15. A real miss tonight but both the women's tag and the main event were good and we also got a fire Hobbs/Starks angle. Enjoyed the new spooky evil version of Hobbs' theme. Next week looks good on paper.

Crowd popping large for Hayter winning made my day tho. If only they understood what they have in her. Instead she's immediately fed to Rosa in a show nobody will watch. (I will watch it).

    Latest on MJF
MJF has effectively vanished from the wrestling scene.

Fightful has followed up numerous times about where MJF has been since his post-Double or Nothing promo on AEW Dynamite. We've not heard from a single AEW talent or staffer that has admitted to hearing from him since then, and even plenty of people who have worked with him or are close to him have said that he's not communicated with them whatsoever.

We did confirm that after the promo on June 1, he remained in Los Angeles for several days conducting on-screen, non-wrestling related meetings. There was word last week that he was in New Jersey filming with cast members of Impractical Jokers, which is on TruTV, a Warner Bros. Discovery station. We've not confirmed if it's for that show or just with cast members.

Everyone that we've spoken to says that they've not overheard Tony Khan speak about MJF whatsoever since the June 1 promo. So far we haven't heard of anyone in wrestling that has said that they've even spoken to MJF since he left, either.

There are still some within the company that are of the belief that MJF is on his way out of the company, and wants to go to WWE. However, that isn't based on any information gained since the actual promo.

The latest on MJF from Fightful. I miss him.
