Steve Armitage can't tell Asians apart even with numbers on their helmets. "The Korean...there's two of them.  The Chinese!"

I'm just happy he seems to have given up not being able to handle pronunciation of vowels in Japanese.

In the old guy's defense, the American uniform and the Korean uniform had me sort of confused too. Plus, there was the "Russian" guy who was actually a Korean who took a payoff to convert since he couldn't make the Korean team for the last Olympics.

  2. Truth Martini fired the hoopla hotties. No more Scarlett or Kasey Rae makes me sad. :(

Pretty fun show this week. Corino calling B.J. Witmer names will never get old. Main event three-way was good too, and leads to Taven vs whoever Martini brings in, and leaves Lethal vs Ciampa for the TV title.

First time ever Canada has led the medal table in any olympics

This really is the golden age of Canadian winter sport. It's amazing we managed to host Montreal in summer and Calgary in winter and not win a single gold in either, but the long-term effect of that was really seen in Vancouver and now here.

EDIT: I think we're actually second right now, but that's... just fine. :-)

The official Olympic medal list is listed by gold medals first, not total medals. That puts Canada tied with THE MIGHTY DUTCH at three medals. Tiebreaker after that is silver medals, where we have them 3-2. We also caught the Dutch and Norweigians in total medals as well, all with 7.

  4. Kyle Lowry just hit a three to cut Sacramento's lead to three, but a ref somehow managed to call him for an offensive foul while taking a jump shot to negate the basket. NBA broadcasts need to go NFL style, and get a former zebra in the booth to explain some of this shit.

Damn, they did this with the new commish sitting in the stands. Bravo, terrible refs, bravo...

I'm not sure what college has to do with becoming a professional athlete. If they want to become an accountant, sure you need a degree, so you need to go to school. You want to dunk a basketball, and are good enough to get paid to do it? Why on earth should be you be forced to go to college?

They don't HAVE to go to college, they just can't to the NBA for a year. The NBA(and the players association) have the right to set terms of employment, in this case being one year away from high school. A player can go to europe, or china or anywhere. An interesting wrinkle would be allowing them to draft high school kids but making them play in the D-league for a whole year. . .

There's zero reason why these kids can't be drafted when their high school class graduates. ZERO. Baseball and hockey draft kids straight out of high school all the time, nobody's jumping up and down trying to steer them into colleges. The MIGHTY STERN decided that since a bunch of his owners were drafting a bunch of bums straight out of high school, that there needed to be a one-year rule, not to benefit the players, but to save his stupid owners money.

The NFL being able to use college football as a minor league all these years is a joke too.

  7. The only game that doesn't start in the regular Thurs/Sun/Mon timeslot is the late night Monday game. Season opener will still kick off at 8:30 Eastern. Same with the Sunday nighter. Where those games get played won't change the start times.

This is so awesome and points out just why Coach's Wife is one of the best characters ever. I wish she were my wife.

    We don't judge.

Until I saw the name "Taylor" in the link, I thought he was talking about Christine Armstrong too. Coach was a great sitcom as well.

  9. Jets get 6 shots in the first two periods, Al Montoya plays like a madman, and they come from behind to win 3-1 in Chicago. If it wasn't minus a billion here, it definitely would have been a pants-free weekend.
