It’s gonna suck when the payoff to this is Curt finding out that Many Saints is mid.

I was just reminded why I don't bother with Netflix (or Amazon Prime for that matter): Whenever you want to see something it either isn't on there or they charge you. I finished up watching The Sopranos again (the damn replays got me) and wanted to watch The Many Saints of Newark. HBO On Demand didn't have it and led me to Netflix, as I'd forgotten it was a Netflix Original. Netflix... does not have a Netflix Original. I mean if you cycle out your own programming, which people ostensibly pay you for, what the fuck is wrong with you?
EDIT: HBO On Demand does this too. I had never watched The Corner and had to find it online, thankfully the whole miniseries was on Youtube. They do this with old stuff. You'd think it'd be like the Network, but...
It’s not a Netflix original. That was Warner and New Line and premiered on HBO. Or am I mistaken?
Say what you will of Netflix, I haven’t had any problem finding their originals even years after the fact on the service.

If the consolation prize for Cody not finishing the story this year is we get the biggest match in AEW history, Punk vs Cody, I’m okay with it. Get to knock that off my dream board and probably get Gunther winning the Rumble? As much as I don’t care to see the Rock, that’s not a bad way for things to shake out.

I saw Asteroid City not like that did me a lot of good apparently.
If you watched something you liked or that activated you in some way, you’re the winner regardless of what awards giving bodies choose to recognize.

Maybe they should expand Best Picture to twenty nominees to keep everyone happy.

Re: Dakota Johnson, I wonder how much of a coincidence it was that news broke about her switching her representation like a week after that trailer dropped.

It’s bad enough that I need to watch an event this weekend that takes place from the armpit of MLB stadiums, the Trop. Stop!

Even if The Rainmaker ends up on Netflix Pro, it'll be interesting to see if WWE can do a better job running back the 2014 MOTY (Okada vs Shinsuke) than they did with the 2026 (NJPW) MOTY (Shinsuke vs Styles). It would be a fun referendum on how much things have really improved since Mania 34.
Getting back into WWE for Punk purposes has me reckoning with the fact that they’ve handled Gunther very well. And a wrestling podcaster with some connections has suggested that the WWE pitch for Okada is “Gunther with subtitles.” Not sure old rematches are the metric for success. But I think I know what Okada in AEW looks like, whereas there’s a curiosity factor with WWE.
SpoilerIf we’re considering the health of the industry first, he’d still be in Japan.

Has Netflix live broadcast anything aside from Chris Rock's new special?
They’re going to air the SAG awards live on Netflix next month. Me and dozens of other people will be watching.

Am I crazy for thinking Netflix is ubiquitous enough that it’s at worst a neutral move in terms of visibility? Among streamers, I think it’s the only one you could credibly make that claim about.

I wonder if Lucha Underground was Netflix dipping their toe into the water
SRS seemed to hint at the OVW docu-series making an impact. Will be interested if he does any reporting on that.

Nick Khan says Raw is staying on Mondays
That was a very qualified answer while also speaking a great deal about the stiff football competition. I think if they were moving, they wouldn’t make that clear until closer to the move so as not to confuse people. It’s eleven months away, why rush to announce such a move?

I think he meant WWE to Netflix specifically was random. Which is true...I personally didn't hear anything about Netflix being a possible destination before this morning.
I guess that’s fair in the sense that the main streamer I kept hearing people bring up as a possibility was Amazon.

This all seems so random and surreal.
Is it that random? Streamers looking to get live sports or sports-adjacent content has been a long developing story.

Punk/Cody talk-off wound up around 20 minutes with entrances, so about 15 total. Dolfan caught 2 AEW references. So, they were underplaying tonight.
No time for that shit, gotta talk about OVW.

Hell yeah, let’s get those undercard guys with paper records into the top five so we can pretend their matches against the real stars matter.

Yes, I assume Curt was cracking wise.

Apparently it's the 2nd anniversary of Cody's last promo in AEW. Relive the madness
Are we still doing Wire references?

What's this?
Danielson’s still planning to work multiple times a year once he winds it down as a full-time guy. Think he said a dozen or so times a year, I can’t remember the exact number of matches he said.
I worry how max effort he’s gonna go to make those feel special.

There’s something funny about Christian and Dustin being the examples cited in a post that devolves into a grievance against guys who do barely anything and take the night off when their match this past week had (off the top of my head; but I’m happy to go back and rewatch if necessary):
-a superplex
-a splash
-a dive over the post to the floor
-a destroyer on the floor
-a finisher kick out
-very physical collisions
This is a TV first promotion and when the red light is on, I frankly don’t see many people assing off or taking the night off. I see a lot of people giving it their best effort every time out. Not everyone’s max-effort is equal, but are we holding it against people for making the most of what they have by deploying it shrewdly? Not being on the most extreme end of the maximalist bombfest scale isn’t a reflection of a lack of effort or a sign the performers think they’re taking advantage of the audience. I don’t want to go as far as to say it’s disrespectful to engage in work like that in this way, but I think we can do better.
All of that said, I understand that the Bucks’ promo was repugnant and it was meant to provoke extreme opinions, so I blame them for all of this.

Just going to take the strange developments in this thread as proof that guys like Dustin don’t need to be hitting destroyers on the floor (which I don’t necessarily mind them doing), because the people they’re trying to please with that will still want them to go away.

That's massive news. Kazuchika Okada is in my top three wrestlers of all time. Fan of Okada ever since he returned from excursion as the Rainmaker at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 6. Okada's had some of the greatest matches in wrestling history with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kenny Omega, Katsuyori Shibata and Tetsuya Naito to name but a few. Be interesting to see where he turns up and how he's used.
What’s your desired Okada destination?

The lurid details from the suit suggest this will be getting far more attention than the last few rounds of this.
