  1. Things I miss; the idea that a good tag team is better than two singles wrestlers teaming for the firs time, needing a managers license to be at ringside, newly turned heels growing and EVIL goatee.

things I don't like doing a rematch after the champ has lost because he had a "rematch clause" in his contract. there was a period where WWE did this constantly  also in the Royale Rumble tag teams or people who should be friends not working together just because its "everyman for himself"

Looking at today's AEW, I think our image of these people is focused too much on the art and not enough on the business. I don't think Cody keeps track of the houses on every building he's worked since shortly after leaving WWE because he thinks of himself primarily as an artist. The Young Bucks don't hawk t-shirt so successfully because they've prioritized their art above their financial security. Forgive me for saying so, but I think more people meet the categorization of businesspeople and artist and find a way to prioritize both than your worldview and categorization allowed for in 2005.

This pat reminds me of musicians that I know who play music that they love while at the same time understand that CD and Tshirt sales put food on the table. Art and commerce is rarely and either or

I'd be very interested to see some AEW crossover for the G1. I think Mox is a good one and Adam Page and maybe Archer since they have some experience. Not sure what Wardlow's conditioning is like but he would make a good impression and I'm sure he could use the experience. I'd really like to see MJF work a New Japan crowd too, Switchblade has made an art out of it and Max could find that level too. Yano/MJF has a high chance of comedy match of the year.

MJF/Yano could be up their with Naito vs Yano in the G1

  4. My 2 cents on Luther: I was fine with him in the main event of the Jericho 30 year anniversary show, I certainly don't want to see him every week. And I think they did a good job of explaining his and Jericho's history (like others have said AEW doesn't always do a good job of this). One of the big critisms of RAW the past 15 years or so is that it becomes The HHH show or The Vince MacMahon show or "The John Cena overcomes the odds every week" show. AEW has done a good job of avoiding that by giving us something different every week

Just watching the 92 Rumble and it prompted a random thought (I don’t remember this ever being covered in one of those by the numbers videos). What’s the longest timeframe covered by Rumble appearances (not most appearances or biggest gap between appearances, just longest time between first and last appearances)? After some quick checks I’m thinking it’s Taker with 26 years (91-17) and possibly Jarrett in no.2 with 25 (94-19 - I would have completely forgotten him if I hadn’t looked up the 19 match).

    Am I missing anyone?

Charles Wright was in the 93 Rumble as Papa Shango and in the 2013 Rumble as Goodfather so he at 20 years. Mark Henry is in the 98 Rumble and the 2017 Rumble. Diesel is in 1994 and 2014. Gold Dust is in 1997 and 2018

  6. It seems that everyone thinks that MJF is going to eventually turn on Jericho (and Wardlow is gonna break out) but to me I really see a lot in this potential Sammy vs MJF feud. I could see them fighting over the TNT belt down the line and The world title after that. This could end up being AEW's Rock vs HHH or Bret vs. Shawn

Actually, I thought that they should have something similar, but instead of a tournament Have a King of the Hill title, defend it five times, receive a TNT title shot on Dynamite. Gives a bit of a storyline from week to week

Kinda like the $10000 dollar challenge in WCW
