Rementioning Sonny Kiss as I want to will it into existence, but I guess they need someone who normally fights women for the proposed 3 on 3. Although Kiss vs Statlander is a match I never knew I wanted until just now.

I checked out the hashtag last night and a lot of people were mentioning Sonny.

From the not knowing how to read the room department

I know we're supposed to avoid politics here so I'll just say that they know Congress isn't capable of doing shit and has shown no willingness to enforce any sort of accountability, especially for white billionaires flaunting the rules.

It seemed like a timing issue with the match ending with way too much time left on the show, hence the awkwardly long staring into each other. If it had only been the last 15sec or the show right before fading to black it would have come off much better.

Going from "Tony Khan says we're going to stay with this match no matter what" to ending with 7 minutes left was pretty funny.

  4. One of the early kayfabe-busters I recall was when Duggan and Iron Sheik, mortal enemies in WWF programming, were driving together between shows and were busted by NJ State troopers with weed and coke.

I liked the Mid-South stuff I saw, then once he got his WWF character and became a friend of Hogan he coasted.

A one night bump in TV ratings is not improved business. It's a lot of people tuning into a car wreck.

In terms of the business side of things: The WWE locks in money for a long time from its broadcast partners, Mattel, etc. There are always a lot of out clauses for different sorts of things that can break up a partnership. Vince paying $3 million in hush money to a mistress from his own checkbook is not likely one of those things.

As of now: It's not criminal. It's not an allegation of sexual harassment. It's not multiple allegations of sexual harassment. It's not sexual assault. The woman signed a NDA and we have no idea what she would disclose with the NDA in place.

Now, if we get to a place where it turns out there are 10 other NDAs in place, or if some of the hush money at some point came from a WWE check and not a Vince McMahon check, it's a different story entirely. Because that shows a history of someone abusing their power as the CEO of a corporation and/or using shareholder money to cover up an abuse of power. Then there are usually morals clauses and that sort of thing that means a partner can get out of a partnership.

But a breakup of that sort would not go down without a fight. There would be lawsuits -- and I mean actual lawsuits, not a law firm paying $250 or so to issue a press release on BusinessWire -- over this level of fighting.

The WSJ article mentions that there are over a dozen NDAs from incidents over the years.

Billy Jack Haynes vs Hercules Hernandez: Herc has gone from Blassie to Slick to Heenan by Mania 3.  I can still hear Slick saying "Hercules Hernandez is a FIIIIINE ATHALETE" during the promo where he sold his contract.  Dull clubbering match between two guys who would somehow both end up working under hoods for WCW years later.  That's the rasslin biz for ya.  One day you're working in front of 78,000 93,173 and millions worldwide, one day you're a worked French executioner under a hood in front of 450 people who don't care.  Ka is a wheel.  It goes to a double countout with both fighting over a full nelson, then Herc waffles Billy with the chain for a sweet bladejob as Billy Jack does his best to pull his massive curtain of hair from his forehead so the blood can flow and not get soaked up.  All this happens because, say it with me, we need to keep things going for the house shows.  Funny/scary moment where the guy driving the ring cart starts to drive away before Heenan expects it and while Herc is still getting on.  Heenan almost falls and looks freaked out, and then both of them start screaming at the dude.  It's the little things.

Young JLowe was a Billy Jack Haynes mark...

Shafir and Storm will either be really good or really bad.   Either way, it will still be fun because it will be chock full of potatoes to the dome and women being launched into the sky at awkward angles and landing on their heads.

If that all happens, be interesting to see the internet response given how everyone was shitting on Thunder Rosa last week.

My son's restaurant makes a 4-day dough!  It takes 4 days to make dough!  It's really fucking good though.  Try 40 North next time you're in Austin.  It's the best pizza in town!  Seriously!

The burnt edge Neopolitan style isn't my preferred but I will check it out! sometime soon!

I'd actually argue it was a mistake to do the stretcher job in the first place. You knew you had a big Dynamite coming up in LA where you wanted MJF to riff off of how the weekend played out. So why book yourself into a corner like that? We've all railed on WWE for 20 years now about Triple H getting flipped over by a forklift and showing up on Raw the next night with only a bandage on his forehead. This is the same thing.

Do the match exactly the same. Once he hits the pin, no stretcher. You just have him do the kicking dirt on a dead body taunt as he walks away. You keep the camera focus on him all the way up the ramp, and you do the All Elite graphic. And you don't show MJF at all. That's how you keep the focus on Wardlow. What they did was keep the focus on MJF. The story conclusion ended up being about MJF and not Wardlow. And that's why it's fallen flat since.

Wardlow also should have steam rolled Scorpio in LA for The TNT Title too. If there's a new title coming down the pike and you know you're gonna have a long term focus on that, the TNT Title should have been booked in contrast. A shocking surprise kind of thing where it's now on a completely new (and over) performer. New. Fresh. Surprising. Exciting. AEW is great at doing the long stories. But they need to mix in some good surprise booking once and awhile. (No, not Russo swerves. Think more like 123 Kid beating Razor out of nowhere cool moments every so foten).

We'll never know, but what if the stretcher job and the live mic on Dynamite where the compromise for MJF to show up at all? I do agree that they made a huge mistake by not immediately having Wardlow crush Scorp for the TNT title.

  10. MJF screwed Wardlow. You can say that he is right to hold out for more money and take care of himself, but he fucking killed their hottest angle and no sold the stretcher job. Putting him on TV that Wednesday was fucking stupid.

When we went to Dallas, I drove by where the Sportatorium used to be.

i would also want to go to the site of the Irish McNeil Boys club and 116 W Breckenridge, Bixby OK to see the Mid South office aka Bills old house. Same for the Crockett office on Briarbend Drive in Charlotte.

Yeah, when I moved to Austin in ‘93, one of the places I wanted to see was the Dallas Sportatorium. First trip to Dallas was fall of ‘93 to see TX-OU at the Cotton Bowl and we drove by it, and passed by it several more times on trips to Dallas, but never inside.

I saw a few things at MSG when I was a teen in NYC in the ‘80s, including many Knicks games, a Rangers game, Sting the singer, and the Ringling Brothers Circus, but never a wrestling show.

I did get to see a live TV taping at Arena Coliseo in Mexico City back in 2005.

Put Adam Cole on commentary ?.

If big NJPW beasts are left at home, that won't go down well. You'd think NJPW would be aware of that. Stupid if they're not.

well, AEW sent Wheeler Yuta (admittedly, one of their hottest young stars) for BOSJ and Lance Archer for G1, so maybe they're even.
