I really hope the Moriarty/Dante match ends with both of them turning on Sydal and joining Stokely. The Lio/Dante team was too good for this world, but I'd definitely take this as a consolation. I'd love to see them heel their way up the ladder until Keith Lee pounces Dante into a parallel universe.

Ohhh, I like this idea a lot! Except I would have Dante leapfrog the pounce.

  2. Thinking about it more, I get a lot of joy out of Rey Fenix, and little to none out of Penta.

Private Party needs to break away from being lackeys for rich dudes. I’ve seen them mentioned prominently in the Excursion thread, but even just a refresh in ROH could do wonders for them. Get them away from JR talking shit about Silly String.

  3. Opening tag was great, good story moments.

Gresham-Moriarty was good. I enjoyed Gresham taking moves and selling big more than I did his technically proficient but kind of dull offense. More excited for Moriarty-Dante and maybe them having a plan for Taiga. Claudio as ROH champ sounds good except I’d like to keep him in AEW.

Painful looking women’s squash, Renegades took a beating. Post-match made Athena and Stat look weak AF.

For some reason I really couldn’t pay much attention to the main.  Maybe it’s because I’m tired after a long week, it’s late, and I’ve had a few beers. Maybe I just don’t care enough about these teams or this angle.

Others seemed to have enjoyed this night, didn’t really do it for me. End of the streak.

Happy for The Acclaimed push finally happening.

Does anyone have a more punchable face in wrestling than Daddy Magic? I mean that in the best possible way. I mean it’s Disco Inferno level.

I still remember when they were feuding with Jericho and he called him "squarehead", I laughed hard because he does have a very square head,

  5. I was so certain that Bucks were going to hold onto those titles until an "all the belts" match with FTR, did not see that coming. So much crazy shit happened in that match. Starks is a total star, Hobbs is getting there (near 300-pounds doing a frog splash across 3/4 of the ring), Swerve has his weird offense but sells so well, Lee should not move that well for a guy that big (that fucking jumping spin kick at the start!). I was questioning why Lee went for his cannonball to the floor but it made sense in the context of taking everyone out so Swerve could get the pin.

If I'm Tony Khan, I never let Takeshita return to Japan full-time. I totally bit on some of those nearfalls (and I'm almost certain we had another accidental 3) and I think the fans would've popped huge for an upset. Takeshita pulled out some new stuff today, sported a decent crimson mask, really laid in some forearms, took a hellacious beating. Mox was Mox, he's at the top of his game.

How in the hell does Vince not make a guy with the looks, the build, and the skill of Claudio into a multi-time world champ and top draw? What was it Regal said "I love big strong guys just beating the stuffing out of each other"? Fun match, that finisher was nuts.

They also did a good job with Wardlow/OC, told a good story, solid match.

I know she's really popular here but Serena Deeb kills crowds dead. Decent match, the Tay-Jay postmatch was intriguing.

Jericho's promo was great until the Noah's Ark line (minus the cheap misogynistic shot about Kingston not treating his women right). Kingston's response was terrifying.

Do Britt and Rosa have legit heat? Cute cheap shot with the sandbag and "carry this for a month".

Marion Barber's cause of death has been ruled as accidental due to heatstroke.

Timely and sad considering the current situation in Texas (and the South/Southwest).

  7. Rax was my favorite place as a kid in Ohio, especially after Burger Chef closed. Arby's had the jamocha shake (and the horsey sauce which my Grampy liked but was too spicy for young JLowe) but the Rax Roast Beef was way superior. Next time I'm visiting family in Ohio I have to track down one of those Rax and see how it holds up.

I was wondering what the end goal is here. Logically, MJF will probably come through the crowd and jump somebody or steal a mic or something. But then what? How do you reintegrate him back into the fold in a way that makes sense, doesn't abandon his complaints, and would make sense from the fans' perceptions of Khan's point of view? I would hope that they'd have that stuff planned out in advance, but it's definitely a tough one. His main targets in the shoot were Tony Khan being a mark and not paying him and the influx of former WWE wrestlers. Does he target them? Why would Tony Khan the character pay him more money? ?

It does seem like the only way to bring him back is by having Tony Khan as an on-screen character feuding with MJF and I really really really really really really don’t want that.

  9. Dean’s Saturday thoughts on Kingston-Takeshita mirror mine (also coincidentally on Saturday but not a rewatch). This was a super fun very stiff match that would have all-time classic potential with 30-40 minutes to give more time to build, and then more time between the huge move sections. A nice small touch was Lard Lad barely making the 10 count after the Exploder on the floor. Really do hope they give them a 30-minute main event rematch. Also hope we get Takeshita-Danielson.

I was thinking Faces of Fear for Gates of Agony (yeah, probably a little racist there...) but Road Warriors is a great comparison. Gresham with Tully will be better than Gresham on his own, but ROH is a great place for a guy like that. Lee Moriarty really needs some kind of signature win.

Mercedes-Deeb will be good. Tony Khan’s determination to get Deeb over is how I know he was a DVDVR board member. I do agree with whoever posted that having the token Rampage women’s match be an angle squash is getting old.

I didn’t expect much out of Nese-Cassidy and they ended up really having a great match. Paired well, with Cassidy both selling Nese’s big moves well and having enough charisma to get Nese some heat. And then Nese sold Cassidy’s moves like a million bucks. Those DDT sells made that sequence look huge without looking silly. Cassidy is on a run, but not sure where they can go with him right now.

    A few other thoughts...

So the Bucks are faces now?

I'm so tired of Penta now even as someone who was really into him in LU. This is the 5th or 6th time I've seen him do the "mask gets pulled off get beat with a small package" finish

I'm guessing the ATT guys where really indy workers.

And I think it might be time to do a soft disband of The Dark Order. Don't do a break up but just let everyone go their sperate ways. John Silver has been a break out mens star and doesn't interact with the rest of the group much. Maybe he and Hangman can go after the tag titles, This is the first time in a while Anna Jay has done anything with the group. She usually has her own thing going on. So you have to singles that broke out. You may have something in Preston Vance so keep him in the tag team with Uno and if this trio's tournament ever gets off the ground you could do Uno/Vance/Reynolds (Or Hangman/Silver/Reynolds)

I was honestly thinking that’s where they were going with the Dark Order promo.

Speaking of promos, I forgot how great Moxley’s backstage promo was. WOTY candidate.

Roosh-Penta was my favorite Penta match. They brought the hate and some relative stiffness. Going to be a fun trios match when Alex and Jose face off.

Bowens being hurt apparently gave the Assclaimed the build it needed to really make the heel turn a big one.

That was also my favorite Shafir match, but I’m still just not seeing it. She took and sold a stiff beating, Toni seemed to really relish blasting her with forearms. She also showed a bit of personality as a second on Friday. Thunderstorm are off to a good start, hope they stick together once there’s a women’s tag tournament.

Main event was definitely a stiff brawl, shocked there wasn’t blood. Ending was interesting in concept but a little rough in delivery with Mox popping up a little fast from the cannonball and the broken bulldog choke...at least in. Y opinion.

    Friday looks really great.

  11. For various reasons (including finally watching the 7/1 Rampage [which was pretty awesome]) I only managed to watch the first hour of Dynamite, stopping right after the Penta entrance. Went ahead and read the spoilers, and it all was pretty much what I expected and won't affect my watching of the second hour.

Wardlow got his heat back. Fun match, was obvious the ATT guys were enhancement since they didn't bother naming any of them and most were more roided and less cauliflower ears, lean muscle, and DV convictions. Thought briefly that the confetti being so thick would be cover for a run-in (likely He Who Shall Not Be Named), still thought so when Wardlow was backing up the ramp. But they didn't go there.

Christian is going to get himself stabbed. If it weren't for HoB, having Dark Luchasaurus spit black mist as part of his dark gimmick would work in a dinosaur attack kind of way. Hardy reacted well to Christian's very personal attacks. Like DEAN, I wanted some blood, it'll happen soon enough.

Swerve in the Glory vs. Butcher and Blade (and my dear Bunny), as others have pointed out, wasn't as smooth as it could have been but had some good hoss fight moments and more good tease of a Swerve-Lee split. I assume the Upstate NY crowd (upstate being anything north of Yonkers) was cheering B&Bw/B for their Buffalo connection.

Starks was heated, definitely channeling classic Flair energy. Another three-way surely will have different results, but then that takes away from the money Bucks-FTR for all the gold match.

Kingston was great in his 1 minute of mic time. Tony was being weird during the in-ring interview segments. Poor Ruby!

    Think that's about it.

    RIP Pac-12.

Kinda funny that it's the B12 killing them since it looked like the B12 might disappear not all that long ago.

The Big12 minus UT & OU taking in UH, Cincy, and UCF was dumb and desperate at the time, and even more so now. Bet they wish they could call take backs on that.

I forget…does Arthur Ashe Stadium not have air conditioning, heat, or both?

I had to look it up and it technically has neither, but it has some kind of air cooling system but is basically open air with a retractable roof.

A bit longer than that, they formed a couple weeks before Halloween Havoc and lasted til Eddy got in that bad accident on new years, so just a couple months. I think it ended with the NWO beating them all up backstage and that was it

I’m not doubting you but my brain cannot currently wrap around the idea that the LWO only lasted 2 months.
