  1. I'm glad I haven't missed the boat on self-checkout talk. Two bits:

    1) I bought a bunch of bananas but when selecting them on the screen gimmick I just put 'banana' so it only charged me 29p coz it thought it was just one.

    2) When using one early in the morning one day I actually said thank you to the self service machine when it gave me my change

Also, I was listening to the Shield on the Onnit podcast that someone mentioned. Cracked up at the idea that Reigns and Rollins go home to families and Ambrose goes directly to VEGAS to party

  2. Hero with the Wyatts! Jesus, why didn't that happen?

Not that I can imagine a member of the Wyatt clan with a cravatte based offence... suppose Bray could cut a promo saying how the only TV they received back in their hut was Deliverance and World of Sport from England

  3. Wow, been away for three days and never thought that Curtis Hawkins quote would lead to nearly 10 pages of Ryder talk. My thoughts on him are pretty much exemplified by Cristobal quote:

The "lol Ryder sux" crowd is missing the damn point. He went outside the box to create something for himself, which is exactly what everyone from Vince to Austin have been saying is what you need to do. If he'd gotten some kind of a chance, and just screwed it up, well so be it. But since he never got that chance, it's a hugely demotivating force to people in the locker room.

I don't give a shit about quarterlies or ratings, I'm not a statician I just want to be entertained. And he was entertaining. WOOWOOWOO was massively over until he changed it into this serious woo.woo.woo thing. He's a character that should have at least been put in the Santino position in some way, I'm not saying pushed to the stars coz he's not that type of wrestler but he should have been featured A LOT more in the loveable goof role as opposed to what happened to him with this bizarre US title run/odd Kane storyline then dropping off TV

Ricky Steamboat beating Ric Flair at Chi-Town Rumble is a direct result of J.J. Dillon leaving the NWA. Dillon would have had a plan to double-team Steamboat as soon as Tommy Young was knocked out. Hiro Matsuda just stood there and watched his guy get beat.

This made me lol, whether that was your intention or not I'm not sure

  4. Well this is kind of depressing:

On the locker room reaction to Zack Ryder's depush: "The worst part of that whole thing is that it really kind of broke the spirit of the locker room. For years, we were told in all these pep talks that there's a brass ring, you've gotta reach for it and it's there for the taking if you work hard enough and get yourself over. And he did it; he defied the odds and actually does it, and all the boys are rooting for him, like "Oh wow, this is cool as sh*t. This has never been done before." He got over without the office, without TV time. It was pretty mind-blowing. And then they did just crush it and take it all away from him. To me, I felt the example that set for the rest of the boys was pretty brutal, because then it's like it almost feels hopeless. It's like, you're not going to get pushed unless they pick you to get pushed, and that's kind of it. I thought, above all, that message they sent to the boys was the worst part. They crushed the spirits of a lot of people, like "Okay, so my hard work here isn't going to pay off, huh?"

I got a PS3 on the cheap at the weekend with a bunch of games. Started playing one of them called Spec Ops: The Line just expecting it to be another thoughtless run n gun game. Nope, it's really fucking dark and has an Apocalypse Now descent into madness vibe. I did a mission yesterday where I had to drop phosphorous bombs on a platoon of rogue US troopers THEN walk through the aftermath - burnt soldiers crawling around, crying. One was still alive and simply asked 'why'. Grim

That's an excellent game.  I seem to recall hating the ending though.

    Which ending did you choose?

  6. I've heard amazing things about that game. People say it was one of the most underrated and surprising games of the generation.

I guess going in blind has been a real godsend for me as I know nothing about it so its taken me by surprise. I think I'm 3-6 missions from the end, well worth getting if you can get it cheap/used. The Kurtz-type villain made me choose between executing a civilian who stole water or the soldier who killed the civilians family too - I hesistated for too long so one of his snipers shot my squad mate who I then had to resusitate
