  1. I think I had the fortune of spending 6 hours working on a photo album last night so I wasn’t fully paying attention to Dynamite. However, I did pay more attention than I should have to the tag team championship segment. My ultimate takeaway from that was this:

I would have told Jericho, the Bucks, and Kenny to go kick rocks and keep Punk instead. This probably sounds weird given that I’m not the biggest Punk fan at the moment and I used to really like the Bucks and still think Omega is great. The Bucks have been a total non factor for awhile now and their last good program was dropping the titles to the Lucha Bros. Jericho is actively killing Starks and Big Bill. What in the fucking fuck is going on with everyone in a program with Starks trying to bury him on the mic? That goes for Punk too. Here’s a backstage rule for AEW - no more burying Starks on the mic. A lot of times Jericho is great. The other times he’s Hogan level just leeching off of others and burying them. I don’t even think it’s on purpose. For every good idea Jericho has, he has an equally awful idea or executes thethe other idea awfully. And Omega is just out there twisting in the wind until he can get a line in which sucked. Credit to Starks for trying to make the most out of a dying segment.

Loved the wrestling on the show. Mox and Swerve had legit big match feel. Those two are going to have a killer rematch at some point. Andrade vs Brody ruled.

  2. Oh yeah, there is a terminal entry talking about how synths love those Fancy Lads snack cakes, but they can’t get fat. So they do eat, but they eat like Alf, minus eating cats although I wouldn’t be surprised if they also ate cats.

  3. Now that you mention it, I do recall the first time you meet synth Shaun behind the glass that father tells you he’s a prototype. Maybe they figured something out but it’s entirely unproven because Father is also not going to be able to see the project through. When Shaun asks you to not leave him I let him come with me and accepted him because I thought what would a parent do, but I was half expecting BSG to throw in a video that would say, “hah hah, you fool, that was a test and you failed, he’s our real fail safe and he’s going to rebuild the Institute, lol good game well played!”

  4. I also realized this morning that Starfield is the first BGS game I actually finished and FO4 is now the second.

Despite a 100+ hour playtime for this playthrough, there was a lot I skipped. Far Harbor was the only DLC I did so I completely skipped Nuka World. I also didn’t do much in Diamond City because I did a ton there the first time I played the game when it came out. As much as I wanted to replay the USS Constitution, I left it alone preferring to not sully my memory of my favorite and funniest quest ever from just about any game.  I didn’t find any UFOs or seek them out. I left Vault 88 very barebones. And I didn’t really do much after what I did to the Institute aside from listening to the final tape from Shaun and visiting the heavily irradiated and underwater remains of the area where the CIT and Institute was.

One thing I’m unsure of is young Shaun. I don’t recall coming across any lore from terminals that said synths age, so I assume just like in Westworld, the age and size you’re created at is  what you will remain as until you’re destroyed.

I did think that they could have gone with a really evil ending that is basically ripped off of Westworld, although I guess if it actually happened then you could accuse Jonathan Nolan of ripping off FO4, which I learned from playing this he kind of did. I suppose it only makes sense for him to be the co showrunner of the FO series. Anyway, it would pretty evil to discover the Sole Survivor is actually a synth and after making it to the institute and taking it over, you set out to turn the world into what you want. Instead of the good ending and everything that comes with that, the endgame for the evil path would be going from one key point on the map after another and killing, kidnapping, and taking over the Commonwealth with an army of synths leading to a final battle against a combined Minutemen and Brotherhood. They ultimately lose, you win, time jump to where you’re older and bored of this sterile synth life so you execute a command to turn synths onto one another. You join the fight and it becomes a battle to see who is the last synth standing. Like I said, totally ripped off of the Westworld series, but it would be an interesting direction for a FO game to go in if you wanted to take an evil path.

Sadly, it seems like after FO3 and I guess FONV, BGS/Todd Howard doesn’t have much interest in a completely evil path.

  5. I did it. Finally beat it. I feel like I’m good with the good ending I got and it’s time to go back to the first Spider-Man game to beat that before I potentially get 2 for Christmas.

Great game though, even if it repeatedly crashed the closer I got to the end and combat was a no brainer. I was just in heavily modded PA the whole time and acting like One Punch Man. Only time I used a Gun was to take out turrets I couldn’t reach with my fist.

  6. I think I broke it and probably need to reload a save. I went to Bunker Hill, met up with a Courser, killed him, that kicked off a big fight, killed the white synths, went down in the basement, fought my way through there, found the synths hiding down there, but nothing happened. I’m supposed to meet up with a character at the CIT ruins so I suppose I’ll do that just to see what happens. Weirdly enough, I also killed a bunch of brotherhood dudes and after every one I killed, they never fought back, they just stood there and took it.

Also, Tim can fuck off with his endless quests of putting MILA sensors all over the commonwealth.

The problem is that Miro is DEFINITELY the heel in this situation now. Jealous husband who wants the woman to stay at home and clean instead of having her own social life and career is not a face.

Dude, this whole storyline with Miro, Andrade, and CJ makes me so uncomfortable. We said this forever ago when Miro and CJ did something similar in WWE that they need to heed Macho Man’s words when it comes to working angles with your wife. As it is, the whole storyline feels like it needs a Brazzers or other porn company watermark on it. Even down to the acting. CJ and Miro are so insistent on acting and they’re just not close to being good at it.

Anyway, if in a year from now Andrade leaves Charlotte for CJ I won’t be surprised.

In fact, when was the last time a real life couple working an angle with each other actually worked and was good?

  8. The reason Okada gets brought up is that he’s the biggest star in Japan and closest thing they have to a crossover star here and he’s still an excellent wrestler.

I still love Okada, but I attribute some of his falling off to him just slowing down a little, Kenny leaving, Naito being a shell of who he used to be, Tanahashi (who I really never liked) turning into dust, and poor competition within NJPW. That’s why any time lil Kazu does anything with someone not in NJPW it’s usually awesome. Quality wise, Miyahara and Kenoh are better, but they’re just lacking in the aura and fame Okada has. Plus, I think Okada translates really well to non-Japanese audiences. He wrestles a western style, but mixes in fighting spirit with the authenticity that indie wrestlers wish they could do.

AEW fans are also more exposed to NJPW than NOAH, DDT, or AJPW. I still keep my NJPW World subscription because I’m more familiar with the wrestlers, storylines, and factions. Everything else I catch in a vacuum by downloading from XWT or watching elsewhere. Meltzer and Alvarez sound like they’re in the same boat. There’s also too much good wrestling to watch. However, more and more I consider switching from NJPW World something that will let me watch full NOAH or DDT shows.

I do feel like NJPW is at something of a tipping point to ushering in new top stars who could be as good as NOAH’s or AJPW’s best.

  9. The reason I thought I was near the end game when I had to go to the Glowing Sea was that I had spent a fuck ton of hours doing quests and some of those were bigger quests that I figured had to be part of the main story. I’m now at the Institute, while aligned with the Railroad, and a character I won’t name wants me to attack Bunker Hill. At the same time it feels like I’m on the verge of leading a freedom revolt at another location. Oh, and I’m also spilling the beans on what the Institute wants me to do.

So, uh, how long is this game FFS? If I’m not close to the end now then I don’t know what to expect because there are starting to be too many story threads getting tangled up.

But it has been a fantastic story and I’d put this on par with the Witcher 3 for one of the best worlds and stories I’ve played.

  10. I love this contract because it’s making all of the dumb mark ass Cubs fans cry so much.

The frequent thing said, as always, is “70 mil a year and they’ll still lose in the playoffs.”

Well yeah, no shit, they will lose more times than they win in the playoffs. They’ll also BE in the playoffs every year and will probably win a couple WS.

  11. I think what’s even dumber is that WBD, after axing stuff like Batgirl because it was from a previous regime, was still full speed ahead on Aquaman and Blue Beetle (I refuse to believe Blue Beetle was the start of Gunn’s run) despite those being obvious bombs and bound to lose money when it’s likely that Batgirl would have been more helpful to Max.

I mean, Jesus, your co star in a supposed big blockbuster is Patrick Wilson who I feel like is the newer version of Greg Kinear.

  12. I think I'm in Casey's camp even though I haven't played Phantom Liberty. I pretty much cleared out the base game when it was buggy as fuck, found all of the side stories, the few of them that were there, pretty lackluster compared to what's in the Witcher 3, and there's just not much for me to come back to. After playing it for long enough, I felt that the game world was just very hollow compared to the Witcher 3. I'm guilty of setting my expectations too high.

Anyone here catch Gen V? Was curious how it turned out.

I'm kinda weird when it comes to what affects me now. The Boys doesn't bother me at all, but the first episode of Gen V gave me the feeling I had when I first saw the episode of Breaking Bad where Jesse is stuck in the house with the junkies and there's a little kid there who doesn't know how to talk and is pretty emotionless when presumably the two parents are killed. The first episode has stuff with self-harm in it and some pretty bad stuff that happens to parents and it made me feel like I had to come back to the series at a later point. I did read some stuff that it's basically season 3.5 of the Boys and there's stuff from Gen V that will be in season 4 so I'll catch up on it before the season 4 premiere.

  14. I can't even think of the last movie I saw in theaters before covid. I know my wife and I went to see Tenet when theaters opened back up and that was pleasant even if the movie wasn't. Now I want to look this up...

Oh Jesus. It was Rise of Skywalker. That was for me, my daughter, and wife though. My wife went to go see Cats in the theater with her friend and the two of them had a blast laughing at it. Huh, the last good movie I saw in the theater before covid was Jumanji The Next Level (hey, we thought it was pretty fun and liked it).

And yep, Tenet was the first movie we went to the theater for again.

  15. You mean to say that people, likely the people that worked on Kevin Sullivan's team, were upset that their boss that they liked and hired them was fired? Well no fucking shit. Wow. Truly ground breaking reporting going on. Name me a company where that doesn't happen. Shit, my department and team went through a new manager or director every 3 years or so and they were always well liked and every time they moved on it was a feeling of doom and gloom. Unless your direct report or person above them is a complete cunt then yeah, people aren't going to be too fucking happy.

  16. Yeeeeessssss! Fionna and Cake renewed for season 2. Despite it being the #1 series on Max for weeks, I still figured they wouldn’t put any more money into it and it would be one and done. Super happy to be getting more and curious to see where they go because as good as Distant Lands was as an epilogue to Adventure Time, I thought Fionna and Cake was just slightly better. Plus, all of the major stories and themes from AT were wrapped up.

  17. Given that they’re sticking to cannon, you’d think the NCR would have some kind of presence in the show. Maybe no all out war with the Brotherhood this season, kinda like how GoT saved their first big battle for the second season.

Tony called Claudio's Death Valley Driver a "Canadian Destroyer" 🤷‍♂️

Danielson and KIngston ruled.  Both guys were all red and welted up by the end, including half of Eddie's face.  I could see Eddie going on a winning streak now and that "Eddie is a Bum" sign coming back to bite Danielson in the ass

This is the third or fourth week in a row that Tony has mistakenly called something a Destroyer/Canadian Destroyer on Collision. At this point I’m starting to wonder if it’s just a gag or bit and one day he’ll actually call it right.

Man, it looked like Claudio’s chest was going to burst when he was doing the giant swing on Brody. His chest was just puffed out so much trying to support Brody’s weight. Brody is everything I want in a wrestler. That guy fucking rules.
