Miyamoto beating Drew Parker for the BJW belt is pretty baffling, seems like they’re cutting Parker off as soon as he got started. I’m a fan of Yuko but Parker had some real momentum going.

I've read it had to do with a big sponsor for BJW wanting to see Miyamoto vs Ryuji Ito, which was announced as the next dm title match. BJW is very beholden to them, it's influenced matches/title reigns before.

What's worse is old man Jaki might be getting the next title match while Freedoms just delivered one of the best DM of the year with Violento Jack vs Masashi Takeda while ex-BJW guys like Ueki and Sakuda flourish there.

  2. Still need to watch the BLP show and Effy's show. I was surprised, the Freelance Underground show was a lot of fun.

The ladder scramble match from Wargames was a great spotfest. As advertised.

G Raver-Lloyd was good but their two matches earlier in the year were better. Great ending with the ladder spot Raver nearly died on getting more safely redone.

  3. I could see Night 1 with Ibushi defeating G1 winner Sanada and Ospreay defending the real world title vs Okada. Night 2, Ibushi vs Ospreay. Night 3, Ibushi vs whomever challenges after 1/5, Tanahashi?

I wonder what titles end up defended. Maybe they could work out Moxley for a stretch, vs Tanahashi for the IWGP US title? I imagine the tag belts are candidates to be defended at least twice.

Hiromu-Ishimori was second from the top, could Hiromu-Desperado headline a show? That and Ibushi-Okada are the only simmering feuds they have.

Getting Lawlor over to defend the Strong Openweight title one of the nights would be awesome.

A lot depends on restrictions on travel in the months leading up to this.

  4. The Bullet Club shenanigans, if not heavily checked, will kill this tournament. Waiting to see the schedule now as it tends to spoil things with the Block finals nights. Owens and Yujiro are total drains but I get why this is the groupings we got. I could see a Khan or Loa break out with strong performances.

I'm guessing Naito or Sanada are winning. Okada is also a threat. Could see Block A end in Naito-Ibushi and Block B Sanada-Okada. Naito-Sanada, winner challenges Shingo. Naito-Okada, how did they avoid that in the last year?

I'll go further, guess Power Struggle:

    Shingo vs Naito

    Sanada vs EVIL

    Tanahashi vs Tama Tonga

    DG vs Khan-Cobb

    Yano vs Yujiro

And the winner of AJPW’s Oudou tournament is

    SUWAMA!

Not terribly exciting, since he certainly didn’t need a win to justify a TC challenge, but I guess this way he comes in with momentum and it’s not just a perfunctory match. Lee beating him will seem a bigger accomplishment.

I know wrestling Twitter likes to complain about Ashino’s record in AJ, but since debuting less than 2 years ago he’s beaten every heavyweight but Suwama in singles matches.

    Spoiler

As long as Lee beats him clean then I'm fine with this. I think he will. Ashino seems to have Suwama as his final road block. I could see them meet in the CC Finals in a year. They were supposed to be forming a team, them vs NEXTREAM would be a fun direction.

  6. Hiromu vs Douki from today's show was fantastic. Go out of your way to see it. A brutal jr match.

Eagles vs Wato was solid. Wato has moments here and there where he still seems out of place. I did like him clawing at the referee while in Robbie's leg submission. He has improved a lot from one year ago.

The two new rookies look to be very promising. Excited to see them develop. I love the journey NJPW gives their young lions, it's exciting to watch them from day one.

  7. I'm holding out hope that Muto is going to put Kaito over in a big way in the N1 but yeah. There's slow build and then there's bad grandpa burning through their young roster.

  8. I think Tenzan's body has the consistency of Gumby at this point but I wouldn't be shocked if he tried to do one last G1.

NJPW wouldn't do it, the buildings are booked anyways, but they could do what NOAH did to get Muto into N1 and do 4 smaller blocks. I don't think they should but if they get desperate it is an option.

  9. When Jado booked the Suzuki Gun invasion of NOAH from 2015-2016, some think Jado/NJPW were trying to kill NOAH and buy it for cheap. It's also likely that it's just bad booking from Jado, it goes way too long and no one looks good coming out of it. Lots of awful interference in every match.

  10. Bicep explosion vs Rainmaker would be amazing. I could totally see Zeus fit in. If anyone would work with NJPW right now AJPW makes the most sense. I mean, they tried to kill NOAH.
