Max Crabtree (Longtime British wrestling promoter and Big Daddy's brother) also passed away today. RIP.

Yeah in reality Sid was going to be gone by the end of 1992 just like Warrior and Davey.
WWF booking was all over the place in 1992 and 1993. They threw out all the feuds that they'd set up after WM8 and did SummerSlam with all new matches. And there's no way they planned to have Luger as the new American hero in July when they debuted him as the Narcissist in January.

What was WWF's plan with Sid when he came in in 1991? Was the heel turn and match with Hogan at WM8 always the plan or did they change tack once Warrior agreed to come back? The happy smiling babyface Sid Justice character really did not work although he seemed to be over.

The UK has had gambling on pro-wrestling for 20 years or more.

Speaking of Belzer, am I the only person who only recently realised that the "Dookie" guy in No Holds Barred is clearly a knock on him? Hulk Dookie - YouTube

There's a case I should put this in the EC thread, but I don't think anybody there is arguing to split the titles, so I don't wanna beat the strawman there...
I disagree when I read people online saying about how the WWE should split the titles to have a Raw and Smackdown title again. They did that for most of the last 20 years until last year. Splitting the titles just feels like running back to that crutch (plus there isn't really a logical way to do a split since they're not doing Raw/Smackdown GMs anymore).
Maybe having the IC title and US title as the main titles on the weekly shows will always be like having B titles in the top spots, but if you bring back brand specific HW titles, it's gonna be difficult to have them be of equal/close to equal prestige and as I already noted, it's a crutch.
The time's right to find new booking crutches to use for the next decade or two.
If you have two world titles, you have no world title.

Everything worked fine for years. What happened recently to make everything go wrong?

Cornette does a watchalong to the Royal Rumble match 1992 on this weeks experience. The match is on Youtube as well so you can easily watchalong even if you don't have Peacock/WWE network.

WCW never really delivered when it mattered on PPV. The WWF nearly always did.

Did Jim Neidhart appear on TV as a singles heel in 1988? He was working singles matches against babyfaces at house shows while Bret was working singles against Bad News Brown and other heels. But AFAIK they never acknowledged any split between the two and they were back together as a team by SummerSlam,

I preferred it when the opening game featured the holders, not the hosts. I guess they changed it when they got rid of automatic qualification for the holders.

England's performance today against India was among the best Twenty20 innings I've ever seen.

I don't think I ever realised how little Hogan and Savage actually teamed during their 17 month long pairing as the Megapowers.
- 2 six-man matches, one with one with Hogan, Savage and Steamboat, vs Bundy Rude and Race, one the Mega Powers and Duggan vs Honky and the Hart Foundation
- 1 handicap match with Hogan and Savage vs the Hart Foundation and Honky
- The main event of SummerSlam '88: The Mega Powers vs the Mega Bucks
- The main event of Survivor Series '88: Hogan, Savage, Koko, Hillbilly and Hercules vs Bossman, Akeem, DiBiase, Rooster and Haku
- The main event of "The Main Event II" with Hogan and Savage vs the Twin Towers.
Six matches in total, only two of which were traditional two on two tag matches.

IIRC the Bushwhackers were hired to fill the spot of the British Bulldogs after they left. I think Vince saw the flag they carried and thought they were a British team.
