This weather has gone way past amusing at this point. We've been lucky - lots of pretty snow to look at and play in, and then an nice, warm house to go back to. Power's gone out four times, but never for more than 90 minutes.
On the other hand, some folks haven't had it in two days. We may be taking in two families later today, if they can even get here. Friends of ours have brought strangers in today. There are gonna be people dying in their own homes in the not yet gentrified parts of east Austin over this

Supposed to be two degrees here (south of Austin) tonight. Was under ten last night. We had ice built up inside the house around window frames. Houses and infrastructure here ain’t built for this. We’ve got power and water still, but most folks I know have lost at least one of the pair.

So, remember those level 900 guys we used to run into six years ago? The ones whose level gave them away immediately at hackers?
Well, I got into a room last night and immediately got a bunch of messages. "LifelessTurd killed DuckonQuack" "LifelessTurd killed FishNuts" "LifelessTurd killed Mundungus"...
So, I found the killer on the map. He's in a jet. I thought Jet Boy had just about gone extinct after the arrival of the Oppressor, but apparently there's still one or two around. He's also a level 1900-something.
That got me thinking. Do you figure that's legit? And if so, has he spent literally every waking minute for the last six years flying around in circles, using those stupid Lazer cannons to blast level 12's? (I know online is seven years old, but Jet Boy didn't really appear on the scene till a bit later). I kinda think the answers to those questions are yes and yes.

I've been playing a bit here and there. Did you know people still bring tanks into freemode? They do. Didn't last long. I still got the Night Shift Tank Flowchart memorized. I was all the way under it when the explosion went off.
Then I got into a fight with 2 CEO orgs and a white dot, all focused on me. The brought out multiple ghost orgs, jet bikes. etc. And they netted two kills from it. One was when I was distracted trying put a proximity mine on the personal vehicle of a player I'd just shot and didn't notice the ghosted guy behind me. The other was by freaking orbital cannon. All that to fight one person who can't even remember his way around the map.

Did my first real post-corona workout today. First time I've done anything significant since early December. Nice to know things (kind of) work again. Cut things short, but still did a fair amount and only feel a little more wiped out than normal afterwards - not much worse than I'd normally expect from a workout after 7 weeks off, really. Looks like I'm finally beating the lingering crud. First time I got back on a bike in late December, the two easy miles I did with my kindergarten age son wiped out my legs worse than 15 mile runs have done.

If I remember Nate correctly, the hospital called it pneumonia, but I wonder if there wasn't some COVID there. He was one of them milkfed younguns, lifted a lot of weight in his time. I can't remember if he ever competed in local bodybuilding or not. I know at one point he was ticked to have a pro set of weights and a rack at home so he wouldn't have to fool with a gym anymore.
My favorite online moment: BA-DING! became an inside joke for us because we'd be playing GTA and his future wife would be texting him every 20 seconds, I swear. BA-DING! BA-DING! BA-DING BA-DING! Right after a BA-DING!, I managed to get in "and that is the sound of whooped."
Oh Lord. I forgot the night Nate texted him about 50 times in a row so his phone would ba-ding 50 times in a row. And every text said ba-ding.

Thanks for posting that John. I never got to meet Burke, but I’ve been a mess since Thursday. We spent endless hours doing stupid things on gta. One of my favorite gaming memories was nothing but him and me laughing at melraz for 20 minutes while he fought a bl3 boss.
Anything to help his family while they’re dealing with the loss of husband and father would mean a lot.

I'm rereading the old GTA thread. Miss GTA with y'all. I've barely touched it in years, and it's been even longer since I did anything besides heists or freemode, so I've clean forgotten most of the missions and other stuff. Now that I'm rereading earlier parts of that thread, I have this weird desire to go run Titan of a Job, followed by Prison Thugz.

If you send Jackie's body to his mother's house, you get an extra side mission that counts towards the Heywood 100% Completion achievement. There is a memorial service at the Coyote Cojo for Jackie and IIRC his mother gives you Jackie's motorcycle. You can also obtain Jackie's custom Legendary pistols. You can't wield them akimbo like Jackie does, but you can use one and place the other in your Stash so that it shows up in your Arsenal.
Yeah, I did that. That part wasn't too bad, and was in the middle of the game. The ending (or at least the two I've seen) just has a bunch of cutscenes, much like when shit hit the fan and you meet Johnny for the first time.
Second ending I got felt a lot better than the first.
Also on the plus side, I realized yesterday that Judy looks and sounds a lot like a young Elizabeth Pena.

Well, I beat it. Got a pretty soul crushing ending. Gonna try out another one. I could just use the game to do that for me, but that would require sitting through ALL THOSE FUCKING CUTSCENES again. Forty I had a save from right before the final choice, so I just reloaded that.
Other stuff:I went through the game with minimal difficulty without ever using an implant, modding or crafting. And I’m far from a good gamer
johnny and I actually got along pretty well. Mainly because all the bad stuff he wants you to do is stuff I do in games anyway. Him trolling V in the Raymond Chandler mission was glorious
Finally got my first XSX crash, during a cutscene. It was a good one, though. Took the whole system down.
Did I mention ALL THE FUCKING CUTSCENES?

I have heard that the last race is a bit problematic because the object is to be close enough to damage her husband Samson's car as well as finish the race.
Driving is a bit wonky in this game and I am not a very good racing game guy, so I may give this quest line a pass. That and I don't own enough fast vehicles that are race worthy. Most of the cars I have collected are hoopties.
If you have done some of the nomad quests (not sure which ones exactly) you can get what is apparently the fastest car in the game for free. It's in the big tunnel out in nomad land. I found it accidentally when I got stuck in the tunnel after the game bugged out again and wouldn't let me drive in 3rd person. Ran through there on foot and accidentally ran across it.

I live in a state with two NFL teams. One of those teams is run by Jerry Jones. The other team is clearly more mismanaged. That’s kinda breathtaking when you think about it.

Weirdly, I've had very few technical problems. I don't think I had a crash on the Xbox One after the last release, and I know I haven't had one since i installed it on the XSX a few days after Christmas. I haven't really noticed any weird visuals either on the XSX, but that may be me just not paying attention. I will say the change in graphics between the One and XSX almost disorienting in its extremity.
The problem I'm having with the game is that it's just not that interesting. The combat is fun enough, but there's just not a lot going on that I give two shits about. The only character that I've run into who was vaguely interesting was Jackie, and they used the WCW Sledgehammer of Plot to telegraph what was gonna happen there. I think this is partially my fault, since I'm following my usual approach of doing side missions first, and there are roughly 49476786345723457 of them in this game. It's been at least two weeks since I did a main mission. I've hit level 40 and still haven't gone to talk to Takemura.

Seriously weird coaching change related stuff going on about 20 minutes north of where I'm sitting. No idea what they're thinking here, but I sincerely hope it turns into the burnt orange clusterfuck that it looks like at first glance.

We've somehow mostly kept the power on. Best guess is we're near a fire station, and they've trying to avoid blacking that out, but no idea if that's really true. Gas is working fine, so we've got heat.Water pressure is very low, but at least we've still got a little. Pipes haven't frozen, so that's still good.
My son is having a ball with the houseguests, since the've got a kid a year younger than him.
New fun is the ice storm that came through last night. quarter inch of ice on everything means limbs down all over the place, the worst of which are on the roof
