  1. Awesome does not even begin to describe.  They had a fucking camera person in the electric car!

The sad thing is that you could not pull that off in freemode.  Some asshole would shoot at the camera crew or go and get a tank.

I didn't catch the camera person deal till I saw the outtakes.  That was amazing.

Of course, if I saw that going on in freemode, I'ld probably be the asshole to go disrupt it.  5 white dots together - I'd better go introduce myself in the traditional nite shift way.

  2. I sorta oversimplified what actually happened.  I did the S&F encounter on a Saturday morning, in game.  The stock started going up immediately, even though it was Saturday, so that it had gone up about 3 or 4 percent by the time I managed to buy for all 3 guys.  It went up about 25% by the end of the day, before stopping, I guess at 5 PM.  From what I'd seen online, it should eventually to up 33%, so I decided to be greedy and wait it out.

After that, I could not get the stock to do anything, either up or down.  I waited for 4 or 5 game days, both with the safehouse clock forward deal, and with just leaving the game active for a significant  period of time.  I read that this seems to be a common issue at times.  If I get on tonight, I may see what it does.

  3. I needed about one mission to realize I should just forget about trying to get golds.  At least it hasn't got to the point like LA Noir, where I intentionally tried to get my scores as low as possible.  I will say that combat is insanely easy now that I've played about 709870234 hours of online.

Since online didn't really work yesterday, and I finally finished the main storyline last week, I decided to try to get the big money boosts from the stock market.  Did the S&F mission with the guy that gives you the stock tip, but the stock market seemed to not be doing anything.  I was about catatonic after too much freemode the day before, plus some exhausting, but good, real life stuff, so I just gave up and called it a night.  Guess my offline guys are doomed to a life of relative destitution.

  4. DevilSaint is a guy.  That is CSC here on the board!

I think you are thinking of Soul Reaper IL who is indeed female and a crew member.

I had to text SoulReaper to ask politely that she not kill me again.  didn't want to start a war with her and Amy since they were already in a mess.  Chris was on with the night shift for a while, Friday I think.

  5. Yeah them dudes were some hackin cheatin sum bitches. I was on the 3rd level or the parkin garage and got killed twice. Lile stout said they were skippin across the map and also bouncin off shit. I've bounced the belly of a jet off the ground but never took a nose dive into the ground and bounced back up to keep shootin people. I call horse shit. And that's why the bastard was reported. Fuck him and his wonder woman (while not invisible....but indestructible) jet.

S'more good for you and good for me.

There was definitely some witchcraft afoot last night.  They were killing folks right and left, to the point where I think they had to have had some hacked auto-aim bullshit going.  Nobody is that good in a jet.  At one point there were about 4 or 5 people in passive down near the airport because of the jets.  You never see that with jets - usually I just ignore 'em.

Weirdest thing of all was an instance where they didn't kill me.  I was in a car melraz was driving, and we were rolling up on about 5 red dots down by the airport.  We saw the two additional red dots coming down from the north fast, but we didn't pay any attention till the damn car exploded.  The weird thing was that the explosion didn't kill me.  melraz died, but I just stayed in the passenger seat while the car flew off the road into a parking lot or something.  Then I hopped out of the charred wreck with my health fully intact.

  6. I had no clue that the late night crew played for so long. I got home from work a little after midnight last night to find the lady passed out on the couch from watching Good Wife episodes on Hulu Plus on the Xbox.

Went to turn it off, noticed there were still a few of us playing online and was soooo tempted to join in, but better judgement prevailed as I already only had 6 hours between jobs and if I would have started there was the very real possibility that I just would have never gone to bed.

That was weird, because all 3 of us happened to log on really freaking late last night.  We didn't start till about midnight.  Probably bailed out around 3.  I don't think that was even late for stout.

  7. Got on a bit with melraz and stout last night.  They can confirm that I have become a bounty magnet.  I seriously cannot steal a car without getting one set on me now.

Nothing too exciting in the way of opposition, but at least we didn't run into any tanks.  Last guy in the server was a YOLO crew member.  He was begging for mercy, or at least sending me whiny texts that we were ganging up on him.  I don't think he even managed a kill on any of us.  Too bad for him.  We gotta rid LS of the YOLO menace.

  8. Shit, I didn't notice the lack of cops, but you're right.  We must've been up there at least 30 minutes and I never saw a cop.  Maybe nobody ever lived long enough to get 2-3 stars?

And yeah, anybody down in that valley was screwed, especially because of how slowly you run uphill.  I was trying to provide cover, but it was impossible.

I did have one highlight when I spotted 4 guys in a line shooting at somebody else.  Sniped all 4 of them before they even knew I was there.

  9. Ironically, I was the one that got knocked off by the weather after everybody else mentioned it.  The 3/4 inch hail didn't get my network, but the electrical storm did for a bit.

I will say one thing in defense of the hated Battle GTA DM.  At least for that match I wasn't expecting Dan to melee kill me from behind at any moment, since we were so spread out.  That's about the only thing I'll say for it, though.

I can't claim to have been trapped in the mountain firefight.  I saw five red dots up there and announced I was gonna go introduce myself.  I took a lot of kills, but gave better than I got. We needed melraz's sniper skills badly.  There must've been at least 10 people up there at one point,  Only a few were working together, so at least it wasn't everybody aligned against us.  The guy that rolled up with a tank got a rude awakening after he got it stuck down in that valley.  RPGs were coming from all over the ridges above, and he didn't last a minute.

  10. I got my 25th ignition bomb kill, so I'm finally as evil as JT.  Half the server had declared war on me for some reason, maybe because I kept getting bounties put on me.  When the Simeon car appeared, I took off, grabbed the car, and just managed to sneak into LSC before anybody caught up to me.  Pop out, and there's a white dot right next to me.  I hopped out of the car to make sure he got me, and then got to watch him hop right in.  It turned out to be some guy I'd already killed a bunch of times.  Wish I could've heard his reaction as his hopes of revenge on me turned to dust.

Had something weird happen right after with the mental state.  I was full on red, and got cornered by the cops.  Took out about 10 police choppers with RPGs, and got my wanted level up to 5 stars.  There was a lull in the action, so I decided to make a run for it.  A couple of those police SUVs cornered my car though, and I couldn't get away before they got me.  The weird part was that I spawned with a completely normal mental state, after having been full on psycho just a minute before.

Also got to platinum on the RPG thanks to a slow learner in a Zentorno.  He kept trying trying the reverse and shoot technique on me.  I patiently explained to him 3 times in a row that his technique didn't work against RPGs before he finally grasped the concept.

  11. So as for Dan and D2S2:

Andrew, he, and I get the cargobob.  He has the good idea of having a couple of us wait for him outside since none of us have Buzzards.  Once out he abandons the C-bob near my car, the plan was for him to drive away and lose it while we fly south.  However, no helicopters spawned, so he lost the 4 *'s. Andrew is most in need of the flying stat, so he takes flying duty.

Once we're over the compound, Dan and I parachute down, so we can take the guys out while he keeps flying.  So we get down and he gets a sniper shot ready.  Bang!  2 for 1.

But for some reason, this instantly gets him a 3 * wanted level.  So now he's got to lose the cops.  I took a shot, and now I have a 3 *.

He dies twice, I die. And now Andrew who's about 5000 ft in the air, has to come down and try to take out the guys himself.  But as he was landing, we got a Failed screen, saying we didn't reach the target.  Really odd.

However, yesterday was not all bad.  For the first time, I defeated Dan in a flying race.  So, take THAT.

I think you have to trigger the next part of the mission by hitting the little, yellow area before you start shooting.  When Phil, JT and I did it, I just opened up with the buzzard as soon as I was in range, and I think that's why we got so much heat from the cops.

  12. Only got on for a bit yesterday, but it was eventful.

Hopped into a public server with a bounty on me and immediately saw a Simeon car south of me.  Some white dot came at me while I was switching out of my personal vehicle, so I shot him.  Made it down to the vehicle and shot the guy out of it easily enough.  Soon as I got in I realized why it was so easy to get him.  The car is FUCKED - maybe one tire left, and the body is almost unrecognizable.  I could barely get the thing to move in a straight line at all.  I only made it about a quarter mile before somebody got me.  I had to shoot two more people to get back into the car, and nursed the thing all the way back to LSC with some serious white knuckling.  As soon as I got out, somebody shows up in an armored police truck.  I got him with my grenade launcher but got myself with splash damage too.  He respawned right by the Simeon car and hopped into it for ignition bomb kill # 24.

He took off at that point, so I was just driving around aimlessly.  I was still a white dot, and everybody but one guy was as well.  2 guys passed me in a Comet, and I let them go without shooting, till they turn around and shot me from behind.  They took off as well, so I consoled myself with shooting the other guys around me, including the sole red dot.  But I wanted that Comet.  I had another bounty on me, and was hunkered down behind a car having just shot somebody in the middle of the street when the damn comet came at me again.  This time my auto-targetting combat MG got both of them, and the grenade launcher got the Comet, and a bunch of police cars as well.  They kept coming at me, but it didn't go well for them.  The full arsenal was in effect, with the final kill being a sticky bomb that launched one of them into the ether.  It was probably about 15 to 3, and I was full on psycho, when they decided they'd had enough.  Definitely felt better than getting my ass whipped the night before by sniper boy.

  13. I'd love to see more customization options for online.  Character look, freemode room options, etc.  Neil made a good point about turning off the cops in freemode.  We've said that endlessly during freemode kill-a-thons.  I'd add in an option to prioritize auto-targets, so that you can tell the game target biggest threat - other players - first, rather than veering off 90 degrees to aim at some harmless cop two blocks away.  Options for freemode, races, and DM settings don't seem like they would be too difficult to implement, and would keep people around and playing longer.

I loved the SR games, especially 2 and 3.  I would actively play melee DMs in GTA online if the combat was like SR3.  Best part about Saint's Row is that they never took themselves too seriously - something Rockstar seemingly went overboard on around the time GTA4 came out.

  14. I love the sticky bombs.  So many hilarious kills with those.  melraz with the sticky bomb on the tanker truck.  Watching Rippa climb a sheet metal fence directly above the sticky I had placed there.  I'll sometimes go through my entire supply twice in a long freemode session.  One important rule of GTA I've learned - Mary Lou can't dodge a sticky bomb.

  15. Best sniper shot I've made was tonight.  Did the roll under fire and sniped sulkys46.  Hey Robert, after you left, it started spawning armored cars left and right. Sulky and his boyfriend rolled up on me on the third one I got right as I blew the doors and I was able to sticky the personal vehicle to get both of them.  He shotgunned me off his spawn, but when I spawned back in I was able to shoot rpg's into his boyfriend's stolen ride and then him as he tried to snipe me down the street.  After that they fucked off again and headed back up north.  Ill give him his due, he could handle that sniper rifle, maybe a little too good.

Yeah, I told you that guy could shoot.  He and I ran off the rest of the server before you got in, while taking out each other as well.  He got more freemode kills on me than anybody I've ever run into.

I did manage to get two ignition bomb kills, so I'm up to 23 I think.  I've given up on being subtle and now just drive right at people after I fit the bomb.  Everybody seems to fall for it.  One guy made the mistake of parking his personal vehicle right next to it before getting in.

Closing in on platinum for the RPG as well.  Had 4 guys in a police van roll up on me after my first ignition bomb kill.  RPG sorted that out nicely.  The only weapon I'm a long way off from platinum is grenades.  I still haven't hit gold for that yet.  I always use sticky bombs instead.

  16. I think they are reticent to take tanks out of the equation since tanks and APC's have been around in GTA since the very first incarnation on PC.

I don't think the problem is tanks so much as it is with the money glitches that allowed everyone to own one.

Rockstar wants you to be able to buy a tank, but they want you to own one on their term:  grind missions for GTA$ or buy a cash card with real money.

I personally would've used APCs instead of tanks as the default player armored vehicle.  Something almost as menacing and far less durable.

That's another easy way to do it - make the things less impregnable.  Make RPG rounds more effective on them, or make it somewhat easier to snipe the driver.  Really anything that doesn't equate the tank to virtual god mode.

  17. Happy birthday, RUkered. Next motorcycle ride's on me.

Mis, sorry I didn't step on last night, I was in no mood to wrestle with other players/the cops. I was just trying to get my free Xbox Live Gold game downloading so I could go to bed. Saints Row the Third - it's from 2011, so it'll look like a PlayStation 2 game, but I really enjoyed the fourth one and all the reviews said "it's not as good as the third." Plus the price is right.

Anyhoo, I reached a real breaking point with the game last night - I've been racing a lot, and it has its ups and downs. .I was racing my favorite jumpy course, was so excited to be racing it with nearly a full room. I think there were 14 of us.

Anyhoo, there's shenanigans at the start and I'm in 13th going into the first turn of the race. The guy in 14th PITs me coming out of the first turn to take over 13th. Now I'll PIT a random late in the race if it means the difference between me winning and losing, but to go from 14th to 13th? I know this is a game that practically encourages you to be a dick to everyone you see constantly, but jeez.

Nothing is any fun anymore because of the dicks. Can't race because of the dicks. Can't shoot people in Freemode because some dick's got a tank.

Rockstar is really missing on some simple stuff they could do to make the game better.  Freemode would be far more fun without the tanks.  There's any number of simple ways the situation could be improved:

     - remove the damned things from freemode, and make them only available in missions

     - disable them in some servers, and give you the option to only go to rooms where they are disabled

     - make it so that you can only call a tank every so often - 1 game day, 1 real day, something like that

I'm sure there are other ways that would work as well, and some of them have got to be easy to implement.  I find it hard to believe that they haven't got enough feedback to realize that 95% of people hate tanks, and that the 5% that like them are assholes.

Of course, the DM matchmaking still bugs me 10000000% more than the tanks.  Trying to find a normal mode DM with regular weapons is a damn near impossible task.  You either get a team match, a stupid user created melee match, or one of the new variants of the $1000000 + $$$ + RP matches.  New variants of the last one have popped up, like some kind of mutated virus.  They mostly have things like $100000 and Boost in the names, and they're from the same dude as before.

Has anybody been getting some REALLY wonky game physics after the last update?  I tried to take cover behind a wall a couple days ago, and the game teleported me 20 feet past the end of the wall, but still pretended I was in cover.  Then last night I was going down a small flight of stairs near Grove St and got launched into the air maybe 50 feet.  Lost most of my health from that, which wasn't good for the firefight I was in.

  18.

I've still only played about two hours worth of Dm's in this game, I'm starting to get a little better at them.

So much better that you and Rippa have earned preferred target status from my bullets if you guys are on the other team.

You two are really good sniper tandem, so I can't afford to let either you find a place to dig in and get comfortable.

Yeah, by the second or third DM I was pretty much convinced that there was a sniper scope aimed at my head any time I wasn't completely in cover.  I was right a lot of the time too.

Same way I was sure Dan was going to knife me in the back during the Dockyard DM.  I was slightly off there, as he apparently chose a bat as his weapon of choice, leading to a hilarious 30 second melee fight between the two of us.

  19.

If there's a reward for least valuable player in a team DM win, I deserved it for misanthrope's created match.  Kills - 0.  Deaths - 0.  Shots fired - 0.  Number of enemy spotted - 0.  I would've been just as helpful taking a ride on the ferris wheel, and I still got paid.  Fortunately my teammates had their shit together.

I still want to know how Chris (at least I think it was Chris) survived 2 heavy sniper rounds in a row before somebody else got him.  I know I only winged him, but that was damned frustrating.

Was that when I was running for my life out in the open trying like hell to take cover behind that massive tree?  I just kept getting hit and hit and hit and I have no clue how I didn't die sooner.

Sounds about right.  You were getting shot at from multiple angles.  I couldn't see whoever else was shooting at you - could just see the bullets wizzing by.
