  1. I was thinking that when Destiny came out we would be left with only the hardcores in GTA.  It seems like the opposite may have happened, and they're all fighting it out on Uranus.  The level of competition seems to be way down.

No Titans yesterday, so I did a few deathmatches and spent the rest of the time in freemode.  For some reason the mental state kept resetting, so I went psycho 3 times in about an hour.  Valcourt joined for a while, and we painted the streets of Los Santos red.  Note to Valcourt - if you ever see JT (assuming he ever plays GTA again) or me near the Simeon car, it most likely has an ignition bomb set to go off.

Only decent competition came from a pair of high level guys in the last server.  Saw one of them in a tank and took him out with the Allah Akbar.  Killed him about half a dozen times till his buddy rolled up.  They must've done some wonder twins shit, because the tank guy went from absolute shit to a pretty good match for me instantly.

  2.

God, the white dots of Freemode put up ab-so-lutely no resistance last night. It was kinda sad. We got into one of those rooms where everybody was playing stupid - not once did I think "this guy's tough." At one point, I had about three dots on me and instead of thinking "oh, shit, I'm boned," I was thinking "bring it on, boys."

Melraz was running around killing one dude repeatedly with an RPG and nothing else - freakin' Mary Louing with an RPG, It was comical. We'd be in the center of town stuffing a boot up someone's ass, hard, and the rest of the room's like "nothing to see over there, no sir."

It was a wonderful night in Freemode, which I will try to remember and cherish next time I've got a boot up my ass.

Yeah, last night was pretty much ideal.  No glitchers/tanks/modders or other assorted bullshit.  Jets were plentiful, but the pilots kept helpfully crashing right next to us.  They were then made to pay for their poor piloting skills.  Lots of folks stayed and tried to fight far longer than they should've.  Almost nobody seemed to know their way around a sniper rifle or an RPG.  I think I only even saw one guy doing the Mary Lou, and he turned out to be no threat whatsoever.

Most of them turned out to be fairly high level, so the kills didn't feel cheap, even when they were.  It got to the point where we started getting cocky and trying stupid shit.  Funny thing was that it actually worked a lot of the time.

I have no idea how many times we pulled off the kill somebody, sticky bomb his car, trigger the sticky when he gets back in trick.  I think I must've done it at least 8-10 times on my own.

  3. Jones saved my ass for one of my teams.  It also didn't hurt that I had the second highest scoring receiver as well.  Good thing too, because QB and RB gave me less than 10 points combined.

That team is cursed at RB.  I had 6 on the roster.  Foster, Tate & Moreno were out going into the game.  Woodhead got knocked out for the season in the 1st quarter.  McCoy was knocked out for part of the game as well.  At one point the only RB I had was actually playing for his team was on my bench.

  4. Highlight of the night...Burke gets 2 kills with one rocket from the jet. 2 individuals in 2 different cars I might add. The individuals were Robert and myself. The mission was topfun II. One of the coolest things I've seen. Glad I could be part of it. Just wish I was wearin the boot instead of having the busted and sore ass.

I'd put the double kill at highlight #2 of the night, only because nothing topped Burke getting all over you for ruining his dress.

  5. I saw you on, but figured if you wanted a running buddy, you knew how to find me. There's been many a night where you've invited me to shitty deathmatches and I've invited you to shitty races.

I'm not the "hey, so and so's on, I'l bug him" type, so if anyone's on and wants to get into trouble, look me up. If not, that's fine, I'm seemingly endlessly entertained by racing and doing missions with randoms. Plus I've been tinkering with my fleet of cars. Got a two-door Felon, and I think I like it better than the four-door. Plus it's a convertible, and those rock.

Would've invited you, but I knew I would only be on for a few minutes.  Just got back from a 6 hour trip to a baby store.  I need to shoot things tonight, if I don't just pass out.

  6. Nah, I'm still gonna be on GTA.  I'm gonna play some Destiny, but it's not gripping me that much yet.

I got on a bit Friday afternoon, which I never do because of work.  Got in a server where there were only 2 people over level 100 - me and one level 104 guy.  I wandered in as a harmless looking white dot and proceeded to wreck the place.  Blew up 3 personal vehicles within a minute of being on, and generally made a nuisance of myself.  One guy kept going invisible and coming after me.  I had to explain to him that the invisible trick doesn't really work if the other person knows you're doing it, and if there's only one way to get to them.  It's about the kids.  They need to learn this stuff somehow.

Wound up in a long ass fight with the level 104.  By fight I mean I killed him a bunch of times in increasingly hilarious ways.  Seemed like there was nobody worth a crap on the entire server.  Wondering if it's usually that way during the day, because the level of the nighttime competition seems to have ratcheted up somewhat recently.

I usually check on my Xbox app on Jobber Thursdays and see if anyone is online. It looked like most people were on Earth, so I just caught up on Parks & Rec.

Speaking of, it makes me laugh for some reason when I see that. I'm used to seeing GTA Online or Mass Effect 3 or something. Now it's just "Rippa is on Earth." "J.T. is on the Moon." Thanks for the update, Xbox. It's a dumb thing, but it makes me chuckle.

Along those same lines - it was so weird seeing Robert online and NOT playing GTA V

I think it baffled my XBOX as well, since I pretty much haven't taken GTA out since I bought it.  I'll still be on GTA if others are on, but probably not much otherwise.

  8. We rolled with Robert a bit and got him three out of the five gold chests and showed him where a couple of the dead ghosts were..

I am pushing Level 19 and am itching to get to the Moon, but I'd at least like to get through this Devils Lair strike with a full fireteam of clan members.  Rippa has bet me that Rob will be higher level than Mark by Monday and we'll end up doing the strike with him next week.  We will see.

Not sure how much I'll get to play over the weekend.  Gotta go finish up the endless baby registry before the first of my wife's 97 scheduled baby showers.  Plus go to at least one other baby store and pick out the crib, changing table, and rocker.  Assuming it stops raining 10 inches a day, the rest of my time will be taken up sitting in a field of sunflowers shooting things out of the sky.

With the current climate in the NFL I would be surprised if conduct doesn't cause Winston's position to fall much farther than it would have in previous years. Who want to pay millions to a player that may not make it through the end of his first contract?

The Cleveland Browns and Johnny Manziel say hi.

Johnny never got accused of anything that was actually illegal though.  Parting with 5 billion hot co-eds?  Yep.  Signing his autograph?  Yep.  Raping a student?  Stealing crab legs?  Stealing soda from a fast food place and refusing to leave?  Shooting out a (baker's) dozen windows with a BB gun?  Nope.  JFF just lived/lives the life your normal slightly-immature-but-with-something-of-a-sense-of-the-law dude would live in his situation.

Well, there was that drunk and disorderly/fight/fake ID thing, though all that came out of it was a guilty plea for the fake ID.  Other than that he just mainly annoyed the living shit out of a lot of people.

  10.

I am glad that people here have not fallen into the online consensus of "this game's story is insanely short and wears thin once you beat the story."

It keeps me interested in picking this thing up in the next week or so.

I personally have come to that conclusion but for me, Destiny is all about the catharsis found in shooting things in the head while talking about pro wrestling and sports and movies and shit with my fellow DVDVR members.

If all I did was play the game, I'd get tired of it pretty quickly

That's the same reason I'm playing GTA at this point.  I barely touch it on my own.  I'll probably play some Destiny by myself, because I'm way behind others on getting my character started/leveled up.

I did finally manage to unwrap Destiny yesterday and then promptly fell asleep for two hours once the install started.

  11. Yeah, there was definitely some weird stuff going on last night.  I shot one guy through a huge concrete wall when I first got on.  Later on somebody sneaked up on me but it was like he couldn't auto-target me.  He was shooting all around me, but didn't hit me much.  I Mary Lou-ed and shot him with my assaunt shotgun, but he didn't die till about 5 seconds after I stopped shooting.

Rippa was jumping around all over during one of our DMs.

The Coquette was perfectly still on my screen while it was up there.

  12. Actually, we were wearing everybody out till the last 10 minutes or so.  Stayed in that room for several hours and never had any real competition.

The last 10 minutes were a different story.  We were warring with 2 guys down on the beach north of the Getaway DM when 7 red dots appeared pretty much out of nowhere.  It was something like 3 snipers up on the hills above us, one in a car down on the highway, two guys coming in for close combat and the one jet.  I never even attempted to tackle the snipers, I just stayed under cover of the houses down by the beach.  The 2 in close weren't all that good, so I probably got them twice for every time they got me.  We decided discretion was the better part of valor and ran away.

  13. I'm gonna try to get on for Titans tonight.  Not sure, though. Life's been getting in the way, so I haven't played anything for a while.  Haven't even got round to taking Destiny out of the box yet.

I'm really disappointed in us for not thinking of surfing the larger vehicles in missions that require them.  I surfed another ambulance in freemode last week, after a guy tried to run me down in it.  I love doing that.
