  1. I finally managed to find my Origins disk, and I've played a little here and there.  I have almost no memory of the game, which is actually kind of nice.

I pre-ordered for PS4, which I guess means I should probably get off my ass and go get a PS4 now.  If there are a bunch of folks interested on 360 multiplayer, I might be tempted to pick up a copy just for that.

  2. I wouldn't think PS3/360 would be an afterthought for DLC they're gonna charge money for.  The potential customer base has to be bigger than PS4/XBone.  Most people have long since moved on, but those folks probably won't repurchase the game on next-gen anyway.

Still, as slow as they've been with this entire game, from the long development cycle to missing their stated timelines for releasing things like heists, it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't any more meaningful DLC.  I'm still puzzled that they managed 3 major releases for PS2/Xbox, but didn't get one out till this gen had nearly run its course.

And yeah, I want my heat-seaking missiles from San Andreas back.  Give me that and another garage I don't really need and I'll be good for a while yet.

  3. The guy that was fighting me and RUkered could go.  It turned out to be exactly what I said I didn't want to do in my last post - fight a guy that was good with the new sniper in an open area.  He and I kept swapping kills for a long time.  I did manage to get him 4 or 5 times in a row right before he and his buddy left.

We were only two two horsemen in that last room, but hell followed with us.  I easily had over a hundred kills in there, and maybe 9 or 10 deaths.  melraz did even better than I did.  We started out up in Sandy Shores so we flew down to say hi to Los Santos.  Found two dots in an ammunation and waited outside with a minigun and an RPG.   Turned out they both like level 15.  From then on we were surrounded by 4 or 5 dots for a really long time, and none of em were any good.  Our biggest problem was we kept stealing each others' kills.  Last guy made the mistake of challenging both of us to one on one deathmatches when nobody else was around.  I think melraz killed him at least 15 times during my match.  He finally had to back off so I could get a few kills in myself.

I tried out the new sniper again last night.  I got a few kills with it, but I'm still not very good.  Looked it up online, and I've got 6 kills with it, and been killed like 65 times.  That's damned annoying.  Heavy sniper, on the other hand, has me at about a 1200 to 300 advantage with this character.

  4. I might be on late tonight about stouts normal time. Back on call so no 2 beers tonight. Freemode needs to feel the dvdr wrath i have take ass whoopins the last couple times ive been on. Gotta get my k/d back over 2.5

If anybody is on, I'll probably be on around then.  Gotta go to another baby class tonight and do a bunch of stuff around the house first.

We were dot magnets last night, weren't we? It's like they were working shifts. Some stuck around, more came in, a few left, more came in, four of them's in that glitch, we blew them up, Boo Boo's in the glitch.

It was chaotic, but not really difficult. It's just hard to pay attention to everyone when there's three or four guys around you. That's why the guy who kept getting on roofs was as successful as he was. Friday night with the four dudes from the same crew was more difficult, but not impossible.

I tried that new sniping rifle (the ones that gave us fits Friday) in some gang attacks, and it's kinda hard to work with unless you're in cover. Problem is, you keep moving. If I swung the rifle to the left or the right, I would tend to move left or right. Also, it's hard to get used to the fact that once you bring up the scope, you're in full range - with the snipers, you have to push forward on the stick to get the most magnification out of the deal. I kept pushing forward here and kept walking forward. I can't count the number of times I accidentally walked out of cover while shooting the gun.

I also kept walking off the roofs of buildings. I didnt test if from super-far away, but I'm thinking it had about the same range as the heavy sniper.

Big problem - could be better with actual players and if I was lining my shots up better - it'd take me 3-4 shots sometimes to kill the gang members. The heavy sniper seems much more powerful.

I think the use of the rifle is advanced rocket science - notice no one last night was using the damn thing?

Once we got over to the eastside pay and spray, we were definitely in amongst em.  I don't think there were ever less than 5 dots around us, and we must've been there for at least an hour. Mafia boy got most of his kills on me while I was totally focused on 2-3 other dots.  The rest of the competition were mostly terrible.  Didn't hurt that my sniping skills were working better than usual.  Maybe I need to play more on two beer nights, though melraz's reason for literally being on 2 beer Saturday makes my liver hurt thinking about it.  I was happy that we actually managed to take out the assholes in that bridge glitch for once, and then keep them out afterwards with a few well placed RPGs.

I didn't think about it, but I think you're right about that new sniper - I don't remember seeing it at all on Saturday.  There were several guys using it effectively on Friday.  I hate that damn thing, mainly because other people are good at it and I'm mostly useless.  I tried it out a few more times this weekend, and I got a little better with it.  Got a few kills on players with it both nights.  It's definitely not as powerful as the heavy sniper, but it's full auto with a decent sized clip.  I think the advantage to it is that you get more margin for error using it.  You can still get kills pretty quickly with it even if the first shot doesn't do it.  I wouldn't want to fight out in the open against somebody that knows what they're doing with that thing.  Makes me wish they hadn't nerfed the heavy sniper even more than I already did.

I haven't laughed as hard as I have the last two days in MONTHS. I would say everybody's missing out, but after 5 minutes in a party with us, they'd probably say "fuck this." Where else can you race a race and have a Pearl Jam karaoke contest at the same time while relentlessly giving RUkered shit?

This game has paid for itself twice over in inside jokes.

This game has definitely paid for itself many times over with the online part.  I can't think of another game that has the potential for so many different insane ways to amuse yourself.  Plenty of games have online deathmatches/missions/races/etc.  I can't think of any others where you can surf a bus down a mountain, or parachute into a moving dump truck, or load virtually anything - bicycle, helicopter, whatever - with explosives and go in search of unsuspecting white dots.

Even screwing up can be fun in this game.  I laughed my ass off when melraz and I made a giant clusterfuck of rescuing el stupido.  melraz managed to kill himself with his own helicopter, and I slid the entire way down Vesuvius on my face.

Someone posting on another forum after joining our party:

"I mean they seemed like nice guys, but they kept talking about beer and watering the grass in these Foghorn Leghorn accents. They kept yelling ba-ding randomly. I don't know what the fuck they were on about, but I'm never joining them again."

I got on for a while yesterday and had the typical ups and downs. A guy killed me in freemode, so I wore his ass out and gave him the patented Robert "yeah, go ahead and get in your personal car to chase me...I promise it won't blow up or anything."

Just when I was feeling good about myself, I decide to do missions with randoms. People voted for a LTS match, then everyone dropped out but me and one other guy. The match starts and it's forced pistols. I died in about one minute. The dude that killed me........level 3. I was like "welp, I'll show myself out."

Yeah, I think anybody that was on with us over the weekend would've run for the hills.

And I've had a few encounters with very low level people that made me want to run and hide.  Still remember melraz and I almost having to quit the game after barely squeaking out a team deathmatch win against guys that were 150 levels below us.

    BAAADIIINGGG

Stout's "that's the sound of whooped" line had me crying I was laughing so hard.

  5. Reading the Rockstar support line today, there's a bunch of stuff about people being reset to level 1, being unable to access their apartments, etc.

I checked the social club, and there's some weird stuff.  My guy is the right level one one page, but on another shows level 1.  The crew leaderboard is completely blank, like none of us have any RP.  Weird.

  6. Ahhhh dalm i missed it. Stout you snuck on when i was either gettin some grub upstairs or had the dogs outside waterin the grass. I saw robert jump on but i watched a lil more netflix and hit the bed. I wanted to get on but i knew if i did work would call at 6am and i would be up 29 hours again like i was 2 days ago. Im gonna try to get on tonight. Probably watch Netflix if nobody is playin in the city. Ill keep a better watch tonight and join up if i dont get to tired. Fixin to get off from a shitty day of work. Dalm rain i think my ass cheeks are even wrinkled i got so wet.

Saw you on.  I almost sent an invite, but figured it was probably your wife watching Netflix and she'd wonder who the hell I was.

  7. Sorry if I disappeared unannounced at the end there.  I tried to tell you I needed to drop off, but I'm not sure if you could hear me.  Seemed like one or both of us had headset issues.

That bunch of 4 was a handful, but we held our own.  One was up pretty good on me, but I think I was up on the rest of em.  They sure did like their RPGs, and their Mary Lous.

I went after tank boy in the last room just cause he was the only red dot.  I figured he'd at least stick around and fight for a bit.

I ought to be on tonight, but it will probably be fairly late again.  Gotta go to a new parents class tonight to learn about babies or something.

  8. Oof.  Had an 80 point lead in one of my leagues at one point during the early games, and finished up with the highest point total in the league for the week.  Watched my opponent get insane points from guys that had no business getting them (hello Matt Asiata).  Still had a somewhat comfortable lead going into tonight, but his kicker erased most of that.  Then fucking Tom Coughlin decided to play like he was specifically trying to screw me.  That stupid 4th and 10 Odell Beckham catch probably ended up saving me when they said it was only 9 yards on review.  Won by 0.2 points, assuming Yahoo doesn't adjust either score before they finalize.

My other opponent beat the shit out of me.  Hopefully got all my bad luck over with in one week there.  Had Rodgers, Forte and my #3 RB on bye, plus both TE were either injured or on bye, then lost Foles and Foster to injury.  Foster would really hurt if he's out long term, since I've got him on both teams.

  9. I did a few DMs Friday since there were more people in them than usual.  I was really uneven for some reason.  I'd go 12-3 one match, then be about even the next, then back to 12-3 again.  Had my worst DM result in forever in Shotgun Wedding, ending up 1-5. It was bizarre.  I'd shoot folks right in the face multiple times and not even get a reaction from them.  Then they'd one-shot me.  Happened multiple times with different opponents in that match.

Then you lose because the final score was 50-50. Which counts as a loss somehow. Even though we had the most kills by one person, power player, player with best K/D (all me BTW)... somehow a draw counts as a loss.

I've seen that a few times.  I've even lost a couple team DMs where we had one more kill than the other guys.  Only thing I can come up with is maybe our last couple kills came after time expired.

  10. The best part of RUkered's little explosive deal is he was flying over Mount Vesuvius, so that poor bastard in the helicopter is gonna respawn on top of a mountain, about 2 million miles from being able to call for any kind of transportation. Put on your walkin' shoes, pal.

I didn't think of that - it ups the cruelty factor nicely.  I'm picturing the poor bastard still trying to run down that mountain in my head.

  11. I was asleep at 4:30. I've been neglecting Los Santos for the start of basketball season - they're giving us NBA League Pass for a week, and that's like NBA crack.

Hell, we were wondering where you were the last couple nights.  We needed the help, between me missing 1000000000 sniper shots and melraz being on beer 3.

  12. Glad I got to see that after hearing the description on the chat.

We had another mixed bag last night.  Wound up in a freemode session where EVERYBODY wanted to be in an aircraft of some type.  There'd be like 6 things in the air at the same time, with multiple guys in some of em.  melraz managed a damn nice shot on an annihilator with his RPG.  We managed to take down a few tanks with various sticky bomb methods, and got a guy in a parking garage glitch using the passive/sticky approach.  There was also a level 5 guy that kept challenging melraz to 1:1 deathmatches, which went exactly as you'd expect.

We did get to hold a brief beach party, but everybody left way too quickly.  Had the passive/sticky bomb trick used on us at one point.  After we figured out what they were doing, it's easy to defend against.  You can't kill the passive guy, but you can damn sure use explosives to relieve him of his sticky bomb burden.

  13. I apologize if this had been brought up before(not in the game folder much), but bane in Arkham Origins reminded me that I HATE boss battles with the passion of a thousand dying suns. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Well, there's at least two of us.  It's no coincidence that I love games like Fallout 3 or GTA that don't really have them.  In games that have them, they're almost always my least favorite part.  Partly it's that I'm tired of games endlessly rehashing the same basic boss battle types.   I would gladly go the rest of my life without any of these:

boss that you can damage right after you dodge his special attack.  I've hated that gimmick since Punch Out, and 30 years hasn't made it any fresher.

boss that you can only significantly damage by hitting his special weak spot.

whittling down the boss' health while you fight off a hundred of his minions.  extra shitty credit for spawns based on specific levels of damage to the boss.

  14. melraz gets partial credit for that one.  We pissed off a whole mess of folks, and they were all clustered around two personal vehicles lining up shots on him.  It kinda looked like the night we all waited for that guy outside the pay and spray with the firetruck, except the end result was the opposite.  They never even noticed me, or my RPG, until it was too late.

The whole left side of my screen lit up with all the deaths/POV charges/bad sport messages.  It was glorious.  Easily a top 10 all time kill for me.

  15. It happens every once in a while, especially if when someone charges heedlessly into big groups as often as I do.  Usually I can still do pretty well against a big group that's together, either because they're not very good or because they don't coordinate well.  These guys, though, knew what they were doing.
