  1. Just watching as I work so I'll post my thoughts as I go:

I'm glad they're using the new stage from Forbidden Door and from a few Dynamites ago, it's the best/sleekest one they've done and I hope it becomes the new standard one. Makes the old one look thrown together by comparison.

Oh Shit, Jane is SO much better for OC than Where is My Mind. The slow build up to the pop when his name shows is its amazing. Makes me remember some wet hot american summers.

Loved the continued tease of the Body Slam until it was actually the finisher, more of this please. OC hit all the right notes for me today.

Luchasaurus has gone full Dino Kane Oscuro and it kinda works. Goddamn at that Chokeslam on poor Serpentico.

This show over delivered. Crow was hot for everything. The replacement wasn't a letdown. Good show.

Not totally 100% sure of this, but how I read the finish for The IWGP Title Match was when Okada hit that high angle Michinoku Driver it fucked up Cole's shoulder / neck / stinger / or maybe his labrum finally let go. So he was so in his head worried about being hurt, he accidentally ducked the Rainmaker he was supposed to take. Because why would they not have Okada hit one? Especially when it can be broken up. Or in this case still win the match, just for Jay White. So Cole realizes he didn't actually take anything and contemplates kicking out but it was too weak / they just went with him being pinned.

Just my read on it. Could be wrong. But the most plausible scenario. Was supposed to be pinned there, but was supposed to have taken The Rainmaiker he ducked on because he was hurt.

Yeah it felt like that Rainmaker should have definitely been hit there.

I was worried because I thought Okada was knocked loopy by the Cole super kicks, he looked out of it for a minute and even commentary mentioned it. But then Cole got fucked up either by an Okada dropkick or driver and since it was so quick they couldn’t improvise anything else and just went  with the original plan.

Best decision they could have made was Jay pinning Okada after the Blade Runner but it all happened so fast that I don’t blame them. There’s only so much you can decide in those last 10 seconds.

  3. Some takeaways from the night:

Acclaimed/Ass Boys getting some of the biggest entrance pops around, you love to see it.

    JAS/Suzuki vs Eddie/Shooter/Yuta

Speaking of being over,  Everyone is this match is crazy over in different ways, it’s so great seeing the crowd react to everyone.

Wild match all around and and extremely hot opener, can’t ask for anything more. This might have been the match of the night just from the sheer energy all around.

    All Atlantic Title Match

Lmao at Black setting that table on top of some kid. Connors was getting his ass kicked but getting bigger and bigger reactions as the match went on which must have felt awesome.

Holy shit I marked out at that ending, PAC WINS! Fuck yeah, talk about a guy that has deserved something for ages.

    IWGP Title Match

Great match but what the hell was up with that finish? Seems like at least one move was missed in that sequence.  Looked like Okada was knocked loopy but then suddenly Cole got really fucked up right before the ending. Bad note to end an otherwise good match. Hangman looked pretty awesome tonight.

    Main Event

This wasn’t doing much for me until Mox started bleeding and then it became pretty brutal for he last few minutes.

Love that Kingston and Claudio are already spitting at each other’s faces.

So two four ways, a three way tag, 2 trios, and an eight man tag. This kinda has the feel of one of those "get everyone on the card" wrestlemanias

It’s very NJPW too, I would have just made the IGWP title match a straight up one on one between any of the three that are not Cole so it would stand out more from the shit load of multi man matches.

  5. Those 2 seconds where Fenix casually paused the game mid springboard jump blew my mind. That opening match was just pure awesomeness.

That moment were Andrade and fan were face to face telling each other to fuck off and then ending in a fist bump was unexpectedly wholesome. Almost explained wrestling fandom to perfection.

Is there a logical link between Luke Perry and David Arquette that would make this an important part of the said program? Honest question, with no irony/ snark intended, for the record.

I think they were good friends and lived together when younger/starting out.

That ending with Mox and Tanahashi staring at each other making Triple H faces at each other while an actual all-in fight is going on around them, is such a prime example of not booking angles to ensure characters are consistent in their actions.

Nothing Mox has done has shown that he would prefer to do stupid goofy sports-entertainment shit like that, rather than get involved with the fight going on around him.

It seemed like a timing issue with the match ending with way too much time left on the show, hence the awkwardly long staring into each other. If it had only been the last 15sec or the show right before fading to black it would have come off much better.

  8. Has to be Claudio, right? I won’t accept anything else.

Massive asshole Christian has lots of potential, either as a wrestler or just a manager. He went all in.

Hangman don’t miss, another little banger with Silas. A bit surreal seeing Okada in street clothes in an American style brawl on TV, feels almost wrong.

I don’t dislike Marina Shafir but the ABSOLUTE silence during her entrances is painful.

Holy fuck how do people not die with that Toni Storm ass attack in the corner? It looks like straight up murder every time.

I think all the multi man matches in this PPV finally broke Excalibur, first time I’ve heard him stumble.

LMAO at the massive brawl at the end and they kept cutting back to Mox/Tana looking like they’re awkwardly about to kiss for ages.

Haven't said this in a while so allow me to. I still fucking hate the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. The look of the whole thing, the shape of the main plate, the main plate is too small, the strap is too big, the side plates are too big. Fuckin' dreadful.

I wouldn't say it's awful itself, my problem is that it replaced the best belt design of all time.

  10. My main takeaways from this show:

    - Willow Nightingale is a bit of a joy to watch due to her crazy amounts of charisma. Her music is amazing too.

    - If they’re not careful the Acclaimed and Ass Boys will turn into massive baby faces, their entrance is getting crazy reactions.

    - Hook vs. Who? Shota?

    - Main event was crazy good and violent without the need of being too flashy, loved that they have them lots of time. Fish looked like a killer.
