  1. All it says is that it's the 17th game, not that it would take place last in the regular season. Since they like to close seasons with nothing but divisional games, that won't be happening.

I see nothing in that announcement about Belichick's dog being in attendance.  ?

No, but the "Inner Circle" thing is hilarious. Now I'm imagining Chris Jericho makes the Jaguars pick, completely off his tits wasted.

Wasn’t there a stip a few years ago that Sami/KO would never wrestle each other again? Did I dream that? Or was it was of those things were they just say “this will be the last match ever” and then hope no one remembers they said that?

I don't remember this at all, but I also struggle to remember lots of shit. The last time KO and Zayn were even involved with each other was what, 2016? That's a goddamn eternity in pro wrestling time and I doubt they'd honor a "LAST TIME EVAR~" thing after so long. Hell, this company gave us ONCE IN A LIFETIME twice in a calendar year.

That shot of the pirate ship at the stadium had me staring for a minute wondering why the fuck it was there, then remembered the KO pledge to jump off of it somehow. How long will the Walk n' Brawl take to get up there from the middle of the field? Not only that, but how quickly will people make AEW comparisons when integrating a football stadium into a match? Sad thing is I like KO and Zayn more than almost everyone in the Stadium Stampede match but that'll be the analogue people use.

I'm... kind of excited for Wrestlemania? It isn't the card so much as anticipation of a hardcore smark crowd getting to react live to shit for the first time in a year. I hope WWE fills the empty seats with 80s and 90s jobber pictures. Put Mike Sharpe on the hard cam.

Hadn't seen it mentioned but with Arn as ref next week do we finally get the Arn turning on Cody moment that even Ray Charles sees coming?

I'm okay with this only if it means Arn ends up in The Pinnacle and the entire stable wrestles like it's 1982. For football fans imagine a top team being a triple option style. Hell yeah. Ground and pound, make it a part of promos, maybe even work it into matches where people fight like hell to stay inside the ring to prevent crazy shit from happening.

A low-stakes episode but a breeze to watch. Everything was good, fun, easy, those kinds of words.

Almost word-for-word how I felt about it. Unfortunately all I could really remember this morning before reading recaps was who won the opener and the main event. I guess because MJF already cut the promo mocking Jericho last week I forgot about the content of this week's segment.

2:1 odds say the program is called AEW Dynarhodes by their second anniversary show.

EDIT: I remembered the Page squash too, and the lack of shenanigans, and being happy. I can't wait for him to take the strap off of Kenny at the Full Rhodes: Brandi's Nanny's Revenge PPV in the fall. Keep giving him solid wins and looking cool. I remember when it was him and Jericho at the first ever AEW show and I had absolutely no idea who the fuck he was, now he's one of my favorites. Switching from trunks to tassled pants helped his look a lot also, not much confusing him with anyone else.

Orange Cassidy is getting new music. Assuming he doesn't do anything on Dynamite that would require us hearing it, it'll be debuting on Dark: Elevation. Tony promises it will be "dope."

Oh no. I fear some setup where there's an insanely over the top entrance for someone whose gimmick is looking completely disinterested in what's going on. Pyro going off around someone who doesn't even notice it is what this company would do.

  7. I'm wondering how the Lucha Brothers are even a thing now. One's gotten some shine over the last 4-6 weeks as a face while another said he was going to make sure a guy's shoulder was so broken they couldn't hold their new baby. I have no idea who Laredo Kid is but I also struggle to remember what a lot of wrestlers even look like. I remember reading result reports and shit saying "QT Marshall" did something. I had no fucking idea who that was until like, a month ago. This promotion has to start actually introducing people and building their gimmicks rather than assuming we know who they are. Excalibur throwing out some exposition during an entrance isn't good enough.

  8. I'm only okay with a Firefly Fuckfest Match if we get circa-2017 Bray Wyatt saying "Randy!" the same way he did right before Orton burned down his shack. Such joy in his voice to see his buddy.

What exactly did Orton do to get tied to the Wyatt boat anchor for the last several years, anyway? Is this the universe (no pun intended) getting back at him for shitting in bags and being a general dick when he was younger?

I generally find babyfaces less interesting than heels.

This is one of the bigger cuts amongst the thousands this promotion has inflicted on itself over the years. I don't know why, but they haven't been able to present a babyface effectively in ages. They can do heels all day and twice on Sunday but making anyone likable in a positive way is impossible. AEW has the same problem to a lesser extent but the strictly controlled and scripted nature of current WWE makes it much more obvious.

Not a lot of surprise here, though I do hope that Belair/Banks is the main event of night one. I also hope that each night clocks in at three hours. I figured Bad Bunny would be on the first night to entice potential viewers for night two.

  11. It's as if they realized that if they booked Lashley as a monster it would get him over as a face with a live crowd at Wrestlemania. Not like I have a finger on the pulse of anything, but it feels like there's a lot more enthusiasm for Lashley right now compared to Drew at the same time in the Mania build. Granted, Lashley gets the luxury of holding the belt going into the event but I'm not seeing a lot of desire for Drew to be the conquering hero again this year.

  12. Absolutely nothing made real sense tonight. Why make The Hurt Business break up? Why is there a Braun choo-choo? Why... Riddle? Fucking hell. I actually watched the whole show and outside of the Ripley/Asuka bit (since that at least seemed logical), I'm wondering why the fuck I even bothered.

  13. I'll be honest, I've never watched a Rhea Ripley match or anything outside of Rumble appearances but her against Asuka is more exciting to me than Charlotte. Get well soon to Charlotte but there's a chance to make a new star here in Ripley. She's got a real presence and doesn't feel out of place being vaulted to the top of the Raw women's division. I'm most surprised that WWE acknowledged the pandemic again but I guess it was unavoidable like with McIntyre.

Bryan's hitting his stride perfectly and I can absolutely see them giving him one last run with the belt, before Roman takes him out for good.

I hadn't thought about that idea and if anyone would be willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of getting over the top guy, it's Bryan. It'll be incredible if they do it too, no way he'd go out in some underwhelming way.

  15. Just watched Reigns/Bryan in full rather than just highlights and I LOVED this. The first ten minutes or so were perfect. It looked legitimate, it looked like how a smaller but skilled wrestler would approach an arrogant sledgehammer of a champion, fucking awesome. Bryan is amazing as always but this match showed that Roman knows how to work too and has been in his position for so long for a reason. I was converted to the "Roman can work" camp back at Wrestlemania XXXI against Lesnar. He's not incredible but can be given the right, motivated opponent. Lesnar at Wrestlemania XXXIV was shook by the crowd reactions and if there's anyone whose effort can be dialled up or down like a switch, it's Beefy Brock.

Anyway, this match showed why these two in a one-on-one at Wrestlemania was the way to go. Is this year a foregone conclusion? Roman's been dominating one of the two shows for months now, surely he loses in three weeks. Or does he? Do you want to have someone finally take this bad motherfucker down at Mania or do you keep up the domination until, say, SummerFest, er, SummerSlam? Would it have the same impact?

I wish the triple threat at Mania was under elimination rules but if that were they case they'd probably job Bryan out in five minutes.

  16. RIP "Slapjack," 2020-2021. We never really knew ye. I'll miss laughing every time someone says it out loud.

I know they're telling Riddle to act high but in this moment with Nakamura he's bordering on disabled. Like, "he's on a scooter because he's not allowed to be issued a driver's license" disabled. He failed to notice that someone standing two feet away from him in an empty, quiet hallway had walked off. He's supposed to be a face but it's way too much.

If I ignored that the Old Spice ad was part of a wrestling show it was kind of hilarious.

Why has Seth Rollins bored me since he came back from his knee injury in 2016? Going on five years I haven't really cared about anything he's done and he's supposed to be one of their top guys!

Sheamus and Drew did what I thought they'd do, and it was good. Drew's leg slap had to have been an accident. These workers have done these moves so many damn times it's probably hard to unlearn shit like that.

These closeups of Fiend's hand coming out of the mat were ruined (besides the obvious ruining this whole fiasco has been) by seeing the commentary team in the background staring at their monitors instead of the supernatural thing happening RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM

Daniel Bryan is so awesome he didn't even need rebelling crowds to put him in the Wrestlemania main event this time.

EDIT: This company is going to be fucked creatively for a little while when live crowds are back. Waaaaay too much reliance on us hearing what the wrestlers are saying during matches/angles to move things along right now.

  17. Vince's dream was a Hogan/R-Truth minstrel double feature. "Ohhhhhhh naw Mista Hogan, puh-leeeeeeeaze don't drop that leg on me! I was just wantin' ta innerdoose that bunny man!"

Who do you see this company using for nostalgia pops in twenty years, assuming they're still around? Can you imagine an older Orton getting the same kind of feeling from fans that someone from the 80s or 90s booms might? This is the hazard of not making any fucking stars for so long. Cena's seriously the only guy, which was sadly by design for ten years. I suppose if the pro wrestling fanbase has been whittled down to the most hardcore of hardcore fans by then they'll pop for Styles or Bryan or something but those aren't people that would be recognized by those coveted casual or lapsed fans.
