I've seen it a few times here already, so I'm not calling out anyone in particular... but please don't use the word "Vincel" to describe a WWE fan.

It's to say the very least, a loaded term.

    ...

    *no pun intended you jackals*

But it’s still ok to call Republicans every slur I can think of, right?  You don’t seem too offended when members pile on conservatives.

There are people in "Nintendo Jail" for the dumbest of reasons and they're essentially kept in there for life. Just a few months ago people were speculating why Brad and Nextlander and I suppose Giant Bomb were/are in Nintendo Jail and Brad shot all of the reasons down. He didn't specify why because it would cause more issues, but of the reasons he shot down were breaking embargo by talking about a product or accidentally leaking something. That essentially leaves the typical making fun of Nintendo for being different or weird.

So basically, if you don't bend the knee and if you dare make fun of Nintendo, you're going to wind up in Nintendo Jail. That's the only reason anyone could come up with if the other bigger reasons like breaking embargo weren't the actual reason.

I feel like I could come up with more then just a couple reasons one could land in “Nintendo jail” and I feel like the guy would probably just say something if it were as simple as “we made fun of Nintendo”, so I think you’re jumping to a conclusion.  Just my opinion, though.

That's kinda what was done to Bob loves Abishola. They cut instead of increasing the budget, dropped the episode count, and moved nearly everybody to recurring/guest instead of series regular. Everyone is pretty much assuming that means next season is the last, but maybe it's just a serious budget restriction thing. (I don't watch the show, have no horse in that race, but it seems like a shitty way to treat people...)

I just read an article on Bob Loves Abishola.  Per Deadline, the cast consists of 13 people, so  eleven are being demoted from series regular to recurring.  My first thought is “WTH?  Why does a 30-min sitcom need thirteen cast members?”  I mean, I am really skeptical you can juggle that many cast members and find enough for all of them to do to justify having them on salary.  To me, it sounds like the show was popular early on and the creators used that leverage to get jobs for people who should probably have just been recurring characters.

It sounds extreme cutting virtually the entire cast back to pay-per-appearance, but would they be any better off if CBS simply canceled the show?  That seems likely to be the alternative.  Producers released them from the exclusivity clauses, so they can go look for other jobs, if they want.  I feel like, if you expect guaranteed employment, show biz is not the work for you.  Most tv actors work year to year with no expectation that the show will last beyond the next year or so.  And being a regular on a fairly successful show is a good gig.  On balance, the cast will probably come out of this rather well.  I imagine there are a lot of would-be actors in Hollywood who would like to be a regular on a show for four years.

Also, it seems likely that the main reason the show is getting a fifth season at all is that it’s near 100 eps, traditionally the # of eps required for syndication.

I dunno that I like the idea of paring a cast down to two, but I don’t blame CBS for trying to find a way to renew the show at a number they like.  They are not required to renew it all, and if they had canceled it, a lot more than 11 people would be out of work.  Again, nature of the business, so…

If Roman's on Smackdown with his titles, doesn't that guarantee that the finalist from Raw will win this title? (Haven't been watching much, so maybe this is a dumb question)

You’d think, so I’m expecting a Smackdown wrestler to win and be moved over to Raw.

CBS cancelled SWAT - its current 6th season will be its last. Apparently despite its decent ratings, it was the most expensive show to produce and we have all seen what being pricey gets you in this new TV landscape

It’s a little more complicated than that.  CBS wanted to renew the show but wanted to pay a flat rights fee.  The studios - Sony - wanted a multi-year deal with an escalator clause, meaning the rights fee increased every year.  TV shows generally get more expensive each year.  Most star’s contracts contain escalator clauses, for one thing.

CBS eventually agreed to an escalator clause, but wanted to cut the per season episode order.  Since a lot of the shows costs are fixed, meaning they are the same regardless if you make 13 episodes or 22, this would have pushed the average per episode cost up, not down, meaning the studio would have actually made less money.

I would not have guessed SWAT was the most expensive network show on the air, but apparently it is.

  6. Learned this morning that Sandisk is releasing an official licensed 1 tb micro SD card for the Switch.  Card looks to hit stores on the 12th, in connection with the release of Tears of the Kingdom.

There are 1 tb cards out there that work with Switch, but this is the largest of the licensed micro sd card.  Previously, the largest official cars was 512 mb.  Great news for me, as I only buy third-party cards and drives if there isn’t a licensed alternative.  My 512 mb card is almost full.

    edit:

also, Microsoft and Seagate are permanently dropping the price of the Series X/S ssd expanion cards, if anyone is interested in those.  Going forward, the 512 mb card is $89, the 1 tb card is $149, and the 2 tb card is $279.  They’re cutting the price of each card 25-30%.

  7. I honestly thought we were past the days when the outcome of the game depends on whether or not LeBron feels like beating you all by himself, if it comes to that.  Guess I was wrong.

A news report today said that Punk is going to float between Collision and Dynamite, but on nights he's working Dynamite the talent he doesn't get along with (*cough*Bucks*cough*) aren't allowed to be backstage.

If Punk insists on working Wembley and the Bucks are forced to stay home, they won't be happy

Besides making everyone involved seem like they’re fourteen years old, why the hell should the Bucks have to stay out of Punk’s way?  Maybe the situations looks different from the inside, but Punk at least looks like the instigator.  Not to mention he’s the guy who decided to go off script and air personal grievances at 1 am with a live mic in his hand.

lol, I won’t be a bit sad if Punk finds some way to screw Tony Khan over again.  Dude hasn’t learned his lesson yet, it seems.

Glen Kuiper made an on air apology yesterday.

    Google to find out why!

Or you could tell us that he was on air talking about his afternoon visit to the Negro League Museum and, instead of calling it the Negro League Museum, he used the other N-word.

See?  That wasn’t hard and involved not a bit of strum und drang.

Anyway, seemed like an unfortunate accident on Kuiper’s part.  He quickly apologized.  A’s haven’t announced any further discipline yet.

Since we’re talking other signs, someone had a “harm reduction saves lives” sign which I was really happy to see! Love that AEW fans bring things like that and “trans rights”.

Lol, my office was in a nice part of town until a low-income clinic a few blocks away started a needle exchange program and handing out harm reduction kits.  Unsurprisingly, addicts and dealers were drawn to the place like it was a magnet and legit businesses either closed or moved.  We moved to new offices far away from downtown after street people started harassing our clients in the parking garage.  So… yay for harm reduction programs?

People post photos almost every day of addicts shooting up in the clinic’s parking lot and destroying property almost every day.  Did I mention an addict threatened to harm my wife while she was volunteering at an animal shelter a few blocks away?  We think the same guy vandalized her Jeep.

Not a big fan of enabling drug addiction.

Also... if they're soft floating this already, he's never going to call a single snap:

"A notoriously committed individual"...  read that as, "oh wait, this is a lot harder than I thought it was. I was just gonna half-ass this thing but I'm gonna look like an idiot when I do."

Has Brady ever half-assed anything in his life?  It seems like it would be out of character for him.

  12. The situation is not at all funny, but I chuckled a bit when I saw the photo on Dean’s gofundme page.  Years ago, Dean posted a photo of AJ Styles in a sports coat and tie and captioned the photo “When your contractor has a court date”.  I’ve stolen that line a few times over the years and that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the photo.

Prayers and well wishes for the family.

but I'd believe "Bud wants to get fired" more than "Giannis is having a sad."

If that’s what he wanted, the team was happy to oblige.  ESPN is reporting he has been let go.

  14. Haven’t gamed lately, but i have been busy.  Refurbished  a Star Wars Xbox 360 console, a black slim PS3, and a red Wii (the limited edition that was released for Mario’s 25th anniversary, not the red/black model released near the end of the Wii’s lifespan that removed GameCube compatibility).  I’ve dabbled in refurbing old consoles before but this is the first time I’ve done a few comprehensive projects by myself.

Results seem mostly positive.  PS3 looks great and runs well.  Upgraded the storage to 1 tb.  Tried to upgrade to 2 tb, but the console didn’t recognize it.  Wanted to refurbish a white import PS3, but then I wouldn’t be able to play US PS1 games on it (PS1 and PS2 games are still region-locked on the PS3).  Sadly, the Star Wars X360 won’t get any use.  My router does not like it and will not let me connect it to the internet without changing the security settings.  Not doing that, and anyway, most of the X360 games I particularly like are backwards compatible.  Almost all of the rest are available on PS3 and it makes more sense to play enhanced versions on the XSX anyways.

Currently loading retro games onto the various consoles and buying titles to fill some holes.  More enthusiastic about gaming than I’ve been since…. well, the last time I hooked up the PS3 a few years ago.

Does anyone know if you can use a wireless Xbox 360 console with XSX?  The XSX doesn’t support 360 controllers, but a quick Google search suggested you can buy an adapter, but maybe only with wired controllers?  Not really sure at this point.

He's the emperor, and Irulan's father

Lol, I dunno that clears anything up for those of us who haven’t read the books.

I have read several of the book, but that was several decades ago and I remember almost nothing about them except for sand and giant worms.  My lasting impression of Dune is that I saw the original movie in theaters and thought it was a chore to sit through.

i hsven’t seem the reboot film.  It’s probably better.
