So will their title match now feature absurd amount of knee attacks by Ibushi?
-
I think this was the best Ibushi/Sanada match.
-
Tama looked better on his recent singles matches on Strong shows and Goto sometimes does MOTYC matches so I'm hopeful that they can deliver. Unfortunately their single matches are one after another and NJPW often books such in same manner: first ends with DQ due to heel from second one interfering and second match is more of a clusterfuck due to 4 guys being present.

Suzuki ain't winning the main title so I don't think that your comparison holds up.
-
I liked the idea of GoD vs Taichi/ZSJ, but that idea really doesn't need such long match.
-
So can someone who knows about these things explain if it is good, bad or doesn't matter?

I think a general NJPW thread would be good, while big events still get their own thread.
I guess, but question is what we consider "big"? WK, G1, Dominion, BotSJ? NJ Cup maybe?

White is back and we are likely getting White/Ishii at Castle Attack.

I mean, it is that far-fetched to think that he may have a shot at winning the 2021 New Japan Cup? If Evil can actually win the IWGP title, and both Sanada and Evil can clearly be called on to be contenders at any time, it's kind of insulting that Takagi can't be at least at that level.
Well Evil is homegrown and both of them are 4-5 years younger than Shingo. When ZSJ won he was like 30 years old I think. Can he win, can he challenge? Sure, but NJPW rarely gives big wins to someone just because he is having great matches. There must be some additional upside.

Jr. Tag title match started rather well and in the middle it turned into peak Yano match. I think it is one of those "love it or hate it" matches. Either this was a stand out show in this long Road To tour.

Is there some mandate that every IMPACT PPV needs to have absurd things in it? Last one, if I'm not mistaken, had someone going to jail for murder because he lost a wrestling match.

Scurll would have to move FT to Japan to have career, and that's if NJPW wants him. Maybe in the short term he pops up on Strong?
They did set up a match against White before pandemic hit so in theory that could be a big program for Strong. I don't want it to happen, but I admit, I'm kinda curious how the wrestling world would react to it.

Yeah, technically Sanada/Ibushi is the main match of the tour, but Shingo/Tanahashi is most interesting one.
A bit surprised that they are not doing Okada/Evil here, dragging it out till Castle Attack? So who is challenging Ibushi there? Naito rematch?

I never liked much these "I made mistakes, I'm face now" promos so I'm ok if this is going to take some time till White breaks completely and realises who he actually is.

This will be, I think, 4th failed hw title challenge by Sanada?

New year stars with a bang - closing promo by Bushi.

Bein tv also has similar colours I think and they have (or had) MLW so maybe they want to upgrade? Thou wouldn't really be a big deal for NJPW I think.

Read views were up more for the show.
As in more people watched than previous years or what do you mean?
Anyway, I think that my prediction came true. Card didn't look very impressive, but it overdelivered.

This promo makes Khan look rather cool:
He is clearly going to be major player in following years.

Even if he was guilty it doesn't really make sense to put him next to a rapist and paedophile.

Roller coaster year ends with somewhat weird WK cards + new restrictions on audience size (NJPW can't sell tickets to WK anymore since they have passed the newly introduced limit) . On the positive side I think this show can easily over deliver since, I think, nobody is really expecting it to be as great as previous WKs.
For 4-way I think, maybe Yano, Suzuki, Goto and Sho? Would be a bit weird with 3 Chaos guys, but I don't really see many viable alternatives, maybe Ishii, but thats replacing Chaos with Chaos.

I haven't watched ROH since before quarantine started, and even then my interest in it was waning rapidly. Final Battle actually sounds decent on paper, though. Can anybody confirm if it's worth watching?
I don't think that any of the matches are MOTYCs and to me highlight was story transitions, but if you haven't followed the recent story then I'm not sure if it really lands.

You all are going to be very upset when Naito does a big roll call on 1/5.

The King of Pro Wrestling trophy was supposed to be vacated and put up for grabs but no one really cares
They are doing Yano/Fale on one of the Road to shows. Something for WK will likely be announced after that match.

I wonder if there was hope for Moxley to be able to do the shows. I guess the chance is still there. I think tying Tana up with KENTA this year was probably to get Mox vs both of them at WK. Mox/Tanahashi on night two with or without the US title would be a big match up.
So why they did it at Power Struggle?

It would be rather funny and weird journey if they end up back at AXS.
