I'm trying to even imagine how you were finishing on the wrong foot. Maybe it's been so embedded in my brain since I was a little kid (my mom's side of the family owned a bar with a four lane bowling alley in it) to finish on my left foot and slide with that foot. My new bowling shoes don't even have a slide on the sole on the right shoe. It's still weird getting used to that style, but I haven't gone ass over tea kettle yet in them.

Getting more revs on my ball is a goal of mine too. I think I'm going to focus on throwing slower, like around 13 to 14 mph, and try to get more revs on the back end. Or I'll at least learn if that's possible once I get to use my new ball tomorrow. That's my thought though, throw slower, focus on delivery by staying under the ball and keeping my elbow bent, and trying to pick up my revs. I'm never going to be like Belmo, who's a 2 hander anyway, rifling the ball down the lane with a million revs on it.

I did spend one day trying to learn to bowl 2 handed and it's very weird. However, in trying to teach my daughter, I had her switch to 2 handed because she's nearly running up to the foul line and she didn't do too bad throwing it that way. She at least had a 10 pin improvement in one game just by having her throw 2 handed. That's the smallest sample size, but I'm going to keep having her do that. The cool thing watch her is that even though she basically totally new to bowling at 13 years old, when she throws the ball, either 1 handed or 2 handed, she's doing a really good job of getting the ball onto the lane over the foul line and having it hit the lane like a plane landing. It's really smooth. If she could learn consistency with just bringing her arm straight up like she was going to shake someone's hand instead of pulling to the left or right then I think she could be really good at this.

I'm a lefty who's always surrounded by right handed people so when watching them I just subconsciously started finishing with my left foot which caused me to swing the ball around my leg and have a wildly inconsistent shot. Fixing that caused a big jump in my average and made the little old lady that used to own a alley I used to go to pre pandemic to give me a hug.

Hey you can always try to get revs like EJ Tackett since he's a one hander with a ton of revs.

Unrelated to anything anyone is talking about but I’m having such a good time collecting games for the PS2 and 360. Lots of stuff that I find interesting that I never touched when I owned those consoles when I was younger. Just bought Stranglehold, Brink, Alpha Protocol and X-Men Legends (PS2) today at a local game store.

Somewhat related: I’m stupid and I need suggestions on good options for an AV to HDMI converter or whatever so I can stop using this small TV on my desk and hook up my PS2 to my 4K TV. Yes I realize they’ll look like shit probably but PS2 games look like shit anyway.

Before I got my current 4k TV, I had a 1080 TV that had the RGB hook ups so I got a PS2 cord for that was perfect (it kept the games in 4:3). I ended up getting a HDMI converter from Amazon that works ok and the upscaling isn't too horrific.

I just saw that there's a PC mod that ups everyone's starting HP, so matches last 15-20 minutes.  Different strokes and all, but that sounds fucking awful.

It could work if you also had a mod to slow the momentum meter until later in the match or else you're in a special/finisher loop. But I wouldn't want every match to be like that.

  3. Ooh fellow bowlers!

I'm throwing a RotoGrip Helios, Storm MatchUp Hybrid (for dryer lanes) and a Storm Mix for spares. I play a few sweepers during the summer for fun but the kids from the UW-Whitewater team usually show up and dominate those.

I ended up getting lessons to fix my swing since I got into the bad habit of finishing on the wrong foot and my average shot up 30 pins. I need to work on getting more revs on my ball but that's something to shoot for this season. I'll be in 2 leagues in the fall which works because sand volleyball usually ends around that time.

Bowling alleys are comically expensive to run, minimum starting costs are 250k+ plus you'd need to find a way to keep getting people in and also have them not tear up your lanes and equipment.

  4. I thought so from the backstage scene from a few weeks ago but 2 of the guys in the Schizm followers are Brutus and Julius right? From the scene they lingered around at the end and Brutus has a unique enough frame that it had to be him and you just figure the other guy was Julius based on the size. And tonight it really seemed like it. So they finagle their way back and finally send GYV off at the next PLE?

  5. I think upping the difficulty causes the match grading to be harder as well. When I was trying to get Brodie & Paul Wright on RttE, I had it on Easy and I was getting 4.5* matches with no issue. My playthrough with the CAW was on normal and I was getting 3-3.5* with one 4.5* match. The star rating seems odd because they value winning quickly, not taking damage and doing a lot of moves. In comparison to the 2k games the star ratings are closer to what an actual highly rated match would be (longer, back and forth, kickouts etc).

But some of the skills in Fight Forever are super fun, having the unyielding pose skill and the guard breaker is a nasty combo for early on. And fast start is fun especially if your opponent has it too since every match starts like a car crash.

  6. Tried to get Big Show and quit out of every match and that didn't work I got stuck with the Elite take over storyline SMH. Also the some of the detection options in the mini games is off. Multiple times in the "Where Orange" and "Spot the Difference" games I hovered over the image and it didn't detect it.

The 4-way was the usual with its fun moments but nothing great. Not fond of Rey winning. He was the second most boring choice here and its just feel weird for Knight to keep coming up short with this stuff. At this point either Vince is holding him back or HHH has a weird thing for delayed gratification. Feels like they will miss their chance if they don't do something push Knight forward soon.

While I'm intrigued by Escobar/Rey I gotta agree. Also it's been interesting to see what things HHH kept from being under Vince for so long with booking. It seems like WWE loves to do this in general.

Iyo and Charlotte have a banger in their future if they work again. It was a really good match that could be a great one if they smooth off the rough edges. And lets get Charlotte a secondary finisher that isn't Natural Selection.

Dom and Rhea just being cheating SOBs is hilarious.

They have to do an interview segment where Renee asks Gravity how he feels about making his AEW debut against Pac, and he says "Who?"

This just reminds me of a random weekly WWE TV match where I want to say Kofi faced PAC and Woods is outside yelling at PAC "I'ma call gravity on you Neville!"

This is literally how all live sports are produced, though. Every commentator has at least one, if not multiple people in their ears, at all times. It was only a problem with Vince because he tried to micromanage every word and lost his shit constantly. I don’t know of any reports of Tony being that way.

Yeah as someone that's done some camera work for cycling races there's always people in your ear.

  10. Excuse the double post but the more I play the game, the more the little things stick out to me. Like the above of not being able to just turn on count outs or DQs from anywhere. Or if I use a champion in a match then it's a title match automatically and I can't turn that off. Are these reasons to not but the game? No, but they're just annoying enough that they're in my mind.

Say what you will about the Attitude Era, but they had fun midcarders and the PPV main events usually delivered. And the TV angles felt “big”.

That's my general feeling on my random rewatches of the old shows from then. Like there's a random thread of Val Venis stepping up to Stone Cold from Raw to Smackdown and it felt important at that time while watching it. Didn't do anything long term of course, but stuff like that happened all the time and it's why people kept turning in. What's the equivalent now? Someone like Riddle stepping up to Roman?

  12. I got in a couple matches this morning before heading to work then getting a notification that no one was going in because of the smoke so I just got back home. It plays like a slightly faster version of the old AKI engine which makes sense. Should be fun but there's room for improvement. And yeah the AI isn't the best right now I played on normal and just dominated my opponents which is in comparison to WWE2K where I think the AI counters too much.

  13. I preordered the Elite edition last night. If there's a legit rival for wrestling games it can only make 2K step it up more.

With that said as I've gotten better with the 2K controls I'm liking the game more and more. My only gripe is that some characters recover from attacks way too fast.

  14. Good NXT tonight but you can tell their building towards the GAB even with these "very special episodes"

Opening match was fun and I know Wes and Bate have a better match in them. Chase U segment was fun. Cora/Dana was ok but I'm not sure I like Cora laughing at opponents. It's almost too childish. Tag match was fun chaos. Not sure about the Tony D/Gallus story playing out with Gallus being snitches but ok I guess.

Gable Steveson sighting! And we're not going to say him and Damon are brothers? I guess so.

Corbin/Melo segment was fun since you don't get to see Baron go off like that too much. Hopefully he'll have real gear for next week.

Can we tell Seth to cool it? Or nah? I don't think he had to do all that for this match. I'm just worried we'll get a repeat where his knee just gave out after wrestling so much like it did years ago.  Another good match that veered into the too many kickouts stage. Overall I'm not sure how they'll introduce characters to the main roster when only 1/3 to 1/2 of your audience watches NXT but that's a bridge to be crossed another day.
