Speaking of Gigi Gianni, she was in the opening tag match this week with BK against Big Rigs and Bourbon.
So Scout Parker was heated up for Genesis to beat her and complain about not getting a title shot? Ma'am, you got a double submission in a triple threat, back of the line.
The Carlson Twins match wasn't much until the double chair shot on Holly and Penelope.

The cost on the new card pack in 2k is double the prior one which was a jump from the initial offerings. But the odds are better.
With that said, the first match in the Atlanta portion of World Tour is hilariously broken. It's a tag match and you can't leave the ring so the AI logic makes the tag partners come into the ring right away which starts a 5 count and of course your team gets the DQ first. The reddit folks found a cheese solution where you take a character that has a rope clothesline that takes you out of the ring which stops your teams 5 count but keeps the opponent's count going to you win via DQ.
Even with the broken parts, I like World Tour more than last year's Proving Grounds and that's probably due to the lack of points requirements.

I think something like Chase U is fine with NXT being a third brand and developmental to honestly just keep going. They just have never the done the smart thing and had wrestlers "graduate" from it. You also have to wonder if Andre Chase himself wants more. Tony is charismatic enough to beyond the gimmick which is why the way it handicaps him is annoying/disappointing. I feel like they are getting closer to moving him up, but they seriously need to completely rework him if they want him to succeed.
Trick is pretty blatantly in the same position Roxanne was in. He is ready, but they want the rest of the division to be ready before moving him up. They are close enough that I can only see them delaying his move much longer depending on how deep the plans for his feud with Hendry goes.
Weird to mention Fallon and not Jacy who has been there about as long. Neither have much potential on the main roster though Jacy at least knows how to hench. One or both are either getting moved up next draft just to provide bodies on the main roster or they will be released in the next year. Suppose one of them could always catch fire unexpectedly but that seems doubtful. Probably the same with Lash Legend though she has more potential than both by a decent margin.
Briggs and Jensen have been over for a while now so its weird to even talk about them as a team. Briggs is good in the ring, but still lacks much as a personality and will probably not make it past this time next year unless he gets another tag team that catches notice like he did recently with Inamura. Brooks has been given plenty of time to improve, but hasn't made noteworthy progress. Guessing he is in a similar boat though maybe him being second gen gives him more chances.
I wouldn't say weird to not mention Jacy over Fallon, it's just that I completely forgot about Jacy which also isn't great. But yeah she's another one that needs to move up or move on at this point. I assume Lash is getting called up between ending Meta Four and Jakara getting cut and her lack of TV time lately. This makes me wonder how soon Kianna James is from coming back from injury.

Hendry coming out on top yesterday would mean Trick winning Sunday based on typical wrestling. But it's not typical since it's a match for another company's title. But it could be a way to kill time for Trick until the draft. It's got a bit of intrigue. NXT needs to figure out what to do with their super seniors like Tony D, Trick, Fallon, Briggs and Jenson. I'll spare Chase from this since his character makes sense in NXT.

With the pricing of games and how the AAA cycle is a mess I can see why a lot of dystopian future fiction has the basic games for people to play. Like sure you can get a robot arm with a rocket launcher installed on yourself, but you're playing the future equivalent of pac-man on a shitty arcade because no one will put money into games like that anymore.

DZ was notorious for just posting pictures of women wrestlers with no comments on the board. I assume a mod gave them a warning.

This makes me think about the Brie Larson tweet where she took a picture with a guy who had seen the Captain Marvel film some insane amount of times and she looked a little terrified in the picture.
But then we have Auska being harassed online and in person. And people finding Rhea Ripley's home address and sending her stuff. And the infamous Sasha/Mone airport fan picture.
In general about wrestling fans being a little off, most people I mention to that I watch wrestling are whatever about it, I have one friend that just hates wrestling and freaks out when I mention that I'm watching it. And a few that are fans so we can geek out about it.
I do remember meeting up with some friends who came into town for the yearly anime convention and I met up with them at night since they were having a hotel party and someone mentioned that I was a wrestling fan and a guy who looks like the stereotypical internet wrestling fan was talking to me and then tried to quiz me about wrestling and I just rattled off a bunch of wrestlers and matches and promotions and he kinda freaked out since he wasn't familiar with it. Like yeah bro just because you're watching NXT in 2015 doesn't make you the ultimate fan, try tape trading or looking for Megaupload links of DragonGate Infinity episodes before you try to quiz me.

I felt the same way. I also felt the same about the Mariah May/Thunder Rosa street fight from last year. Considering how AEW will stretch things out over a long time when they do these quick escalations, it really stands out.

Overall a pretty good show given the restrictions of running in Maryland. Tag title match involving Price/Oliver vs Bang Bros was very good. Ruckus vs Effy had the people charged up, and Tremont vs Slade was exactly what it should have. The Cogars/Janela & Mr Danger was definitely a match that could have benefited from running outside of Maryland. So they decided to pull the trigger on a 3rd Cogar in a heel ref gimmick.
All of the bald wrestler bits lately just makes me think that Genki Horiguchi needs to do a US tour or something.

I thought SD was ok and the main event was good but I didn't see anything super praising about the match until I looked at Cageside Seats.

Fun opener with Reina del Rey vs Classmaster. The superplex was kinda nuts with Classmaster not quite getting over enough.
Sugar vs. Gloria Glitter was solid and it looks like we're getting a trios title match soon.
Some fun action in the trios match too.
Carlson twins explode next week!
I can't get over the ring announcer's insane dress. It's something you'd see at some gaudy ball.
I was going to say this was a really good episode for wrestling but then we had the main event and even with editing, it was a little rough. The group in the front row doing the Macarena to Paola's theme after the match was funny though.
We get Paola vs. Classmaster again.

They have those already. I've been tempted in the past to try since I actually did like Hooter's wings when I tried them in the past but I never bothered with it.
Also anytime I see a celebrity pushing some product I assume they are just the front person for some capital group. Like Bun B and Trill Burgers or Rock's various products.

RIP to the Superstar Super Packs. I need the Bret Hart to finish off that set. Still never got my Damien Priest and the alert I got some 2K says to open a service ticket.
Didn't touch the live events for the DLC yet since the 90MFP requirement annoys me right now, but I'm getting into World Tour mode. The Amethyst Jade card is pretty useful when you're not restricted from using her. Also the LA matches that have the unlimited packback stipulation are comically easy if you just use cards with the Rage payback so you can load up finishers.
I used the Roman card from the Showcase mode and just speared everything. One of the matches had my Roman and the game's Roman spear our respective partners and get up at the same time so I speared him twice to get the win.
I also got the Elite Bray card from opening enough packs randomly and I'm missing one item each for the King Booker card and the Elite Trish.

I can't wait for Haliburton to be added to the game so I can get some measure of revenge as a Milwaukee Bucks fan.
Also played around with the new DLC characters today during lunch and I feel like Vaquer is too slow? But the models look good. I also saw the patch notes and a lot of stuff got nerfed again.

I think the Cody/Solo SummerSlam match made me realize that they didn't have much beyond a bunch of run-ins in their big showcase matches which kinda sucks. It's one thing for it to be Roman's "trick" since he was built up as someone who needed to hold on to the title or it all comes apart for him (and it did) but for Solo? Doesn't make sense to me at all.
I didn't see Cene as being more or less shot than he has been since he slimmed down and went to true part timer status but maybe I'll rewatch this.
Dom has had some moments before WM where the crowd wanted to cheer him with a Raw match against Guenter that stood out to me. They're going to need to figure something out with him since he's getting cheered even when having Judgement Day cheat on his behalf.

Did they announce a start time for this yet? I'm pretty sure they've run NXT PLEs earlier in the day when there was an AEW PPV before.

I think that was the only card set I actually completed last year. That Hall card from the set was so OP. I actually completed the Superstar series I set this year and I feel nothing. And I'm missing one oddity card for each of the 3 cards you can get right now.

Pretty sure the last DLC set last year was Pink Diamonds. It was the legends set with Luger/DDP/Muta and I don't remember who else.

Yeah I was confused about the new card pack until I viewed the odds. Guess it's 2k throwing the player base a bone? I should have the Damien Priest card for finishing one of the sets but it's not loading for me. I'm going to open a ticket to see what's up.

That's exactly what happened, they only had to not use WWF in Europe since the World Wildlife Fund had the copyright/trademark (not sure of the correct term here) and they had an agreement about it and Vince and Co. kept ignoring it so WWF sued to enforce their rights. And they had to get the 'F' out.

I have a completely unfounded theory that once AEW ended Bea's contract due to covid, she took the safe money with WWE and worked NXTUK and then made the move to NXT proper once they shut that down. As someone who's a fan of her work I'd like to see her on my screen more often. I think she could break out and not be under Jamie's shadow so to speak.
