Probably something to that last point, considering I don’t like Dusty as a commentator either. 😂

I just feel like those people I mentioned could be on the main roster and swapped out for names that have done pretty much everything or are just spinning their wheels. Like, there’s no good reason that Blair can’t be called up post-WrestleMania or whatever and just replace her in NXT with Natalya or someone. Their roster is large enough that you can do this. I much, much rather see R-Truth in NXT than hamming it up with Damien Priest in the main event of RAW.

But yeah if you like it that’s cool. It’s like getting whiplash going from the last show I saw was basically the last gasp of the Black & Gold NXT to it now being… what this is.

Just keep Okada far, far away from this if he does go to WWE. Nakamura benefitted from NXT fans at the time being super smark heavy, it doesn’t seem that way now unless I’m wrong. But if I am wrong… well, I still don’t want to see Okada versus Josh Briggs or anything, lol.

Oh yeah different strokes for different folks. You for sure could swap out some main roster folks for NXT folks or give them time off. R-Truth was actually in NXT when he got hurt in a match with Waller, and Waller did a great job covering for it on a live show in a tiny studio.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the end of B&G NXT, it seemed stuck in place with the UE guys not moving up and no one else on the card getting swapped in. I don't know if the big reset of 2.0 was the right move, but something needed to be done.

On the Okada thing, that's still a smark heavy crowd with a lot of the same people showing up week to week, doesn't seem like a good way to have your roster work since you don't really know if stuff is actually working or not. But if Okada showed up yeah they'd go bonkers. And Okada/Briggs could be a fun 8 minute match.

I had USA still on the TV so when I woke up at like 7:30pm NXT was on. So I paid attention, kind of. If you like it, that’s cool. There are some people who have potential, and people who shouldn’t be on this brand anymore, and people who have both of those things.

But GODDAMN, these vignettes are terrible. The Chase U stuff is just…. ugh. And the Von Wagner thing? Less said the better. I don’t think it’s because of the people involved, but moreso how it’s shot? It seems, I don’t know, cheap? Not sure if I’m conveying how I feel about them properly, or if I even can. Some of the stuff on Raw was the same way - I think it was a few weeks ago, with Chelsea & Piper in a “club” that was clearly just backstage or something.

I got second hand embarrassment listening to Booker T try to be cool on commentary while Trick was making his entrance. I e never liked Booker on commentary and he’s only gotten worse as the years have went on.

Blair Davenport is wrestling some girl who has had maybe a year’s worth of experience. Dragon Lee is wrestling a former Cirque du Soleil guy. Like what’s going on here? I know this is their developmental brand, and these inexperienced people need to be in the ring with experienced people, but in my eyes it’s just flat out weird to see someone like Blair or Lee or even Dragunov still on a brand that’s clearly beneath them.

TLDR: as someone who hasn’t watched NXT at all since it was rebranded and the last show I did watch was probably during the Wednesday Night Wars… oh my god. This is wildly different and not for me. At all. I want to see Blair, Lee, Bron, Dragunov, Trick, Melo, Roxanne, etc on the main roster stat.

I know it was debunked, but I cannot imagine if fucking Okada signed to WWE and debuted on this brand. Holy shit, what’s he gonna do, wrestle a former collegiate archery champion or something? The fuck. And I’m actually one of the people who would rather see Okada in WWE than AEW just because of the potential matches.

Haven't watched this week's episode but the reasons you dislike the show are the exact reasons I love the show. The wackiness of these matchups is intriguing to me along with the really bad sketches. Work out the kinks before getting called up. And there's a bit of a log jam at the main roster so there are a bunch of folks that are stuck in NXT for now which is even more glaring with the UK folks that have been there for the last year and half or so now.

And I believe Booker T on commentary is the WCW B/C show Dusty Rhodes of our time.

Every high school boy at my current gym has hair more in line with Nick Wayne (The Broccoli Cut) than Hook.  Always 3-4 to a bench, wearing Crocs.

This is how I know I go to a "serious man's gym" I haven't seen any kids trying to lift with Crocs on. That's insane to me.

    Tony Atlas' photographer?

Also, I am disappointed they didn't have Juice's pic on a cardboard box for the obvious Juice Box joke.

I believe Cora tore her ACL so… yeah that’s 9 months minimum I’m pretty sure?

Meltzer brought it up but there has been a real string of injuries within the women’s division in NXT, specifically ACL tears. Nikkita Lyons, Sol Ruca and Wendy Choo are the others I think.

There's an uptick in ACL tears for women across all sports at all levels. I'd assume the solution would require a lot of shared data.

The N64/PlayStation 1 era of games has aged pretty poorly for me. The transition from 2D to 3D came plagued with poor controls and bad camera. Unless it's a 2D game (Symphony of the Night, for example, or a lot of the more memorable Saturn games), I don't mind letting a lot of that era go.

A few years ago MegaMan Legends was on sale on the PSN store so I got it, man were the controls tough, you had to use L2/R2 to strafe and it made the boss battles rough.

Man, I've been in Wisconsin almost 20 years and I still haven't been to the Dells. I feel like I should go once just for the experience.

I mean it's a resort area with all of it's trappings (tons of gift shops with either offensive or culturally insensitive things, random chain restaurants etc) but if you're into hiking and other outdoor activities or water parks it's fun with a group of people or a significant other. Plus Del Bar and Ishnala (speaking of culturally insensitive) are really good supper clubs.

I drove past one of the 9 remaining Bennigans locations last month and thought I had gone back in time somehow.

There's a Ponderosa that's a 2 hour drive from me that's open seasonally because it's in a resort area (Wisconsin Dells) and I tell myself I should just find a rental for a weekend and go there for old times sake and maybe get a day pass at a water park.

Checking Wrestletix and the Bossier city show has 3000+ available tickets out of 4452 seats with 16 days left. So they might need to move this to Irish McNeil’s

The only thing I know about Bossier City is that they've hosted a leg of the Womens Volleyball Nations League (a yearly international volleyball competition with your standing helping your chances at Olympic qualification) for the last 2 or 3 years and every volleyball fan is confused because it's sparsely attended and the closest international airport is Dallas/Ft. Worth which is a good drive and it's apparently not a happening city and the only thinking is that there must be some big time grift and kickbacks going on.

Serious question: Was there really backlash over the prospect of Joe vs Hook? I’ve literally seen none. Some people seem excited. Where is he even scrolling?

I didn't see anything on my socials but I'm not super deep since wrestling on social media can be really annoying. It's Joe's first defense, of course it's a lollipop. This is just more fun because it's a young guy and we'll get to see a little more out of Hook.

Same with Jinder, I haven't seen anything negative out there, we know it's just a stop along the way to Rollins/Punk.

Not that I’m like actively looking or anything, but I swear Skye Blue is begging for a wardrobe malfunction. Beautiful woman, but I don’t want to see her wind up being a meme or screengrab for weirdos. I think it’s the dad in me? It’s always this feeling of, look, I don’t care what you wear as long as it makes you feel good, just watch out for others who might take advantage of you.

Yeah, if you see her trending on Twitter/X, don't click it.

  10. Same, anytime I've seen a wrestler in the "wild" the most I've done is a head nod/wave (my favorite might be Silas Young at the gym since he was somehow as wide as he was tall), if I were with my niece/nephews and it was someone they were a fan of, I might try to approach them, but I'm not tracking them down!

Skye's comment was kinda sad/funny considering that everytime she wrestles, she trends on Twitter and it's just zoomed in shots/gifs of her butt. I almost didn't recognize Madison Rayne in that clip too.

  11. "Heyman can spend a couple of weeks cutting promos against Aldi's," This is an amazing autocorrect. Now I want Heyman standing by the carts cutting a promo and someone interrupts him asking if they can have a quarter for the carts.

As far as Rock/Roman, like others have said, Rock wasn't great 10+ years ago and time won't make it better. And him huffing and puffing after that spinebuster/people's elbow is not a good sign either. I don't even think he can go for a "throw bombs" match since his moveset isn't that compared to Goldberg.

The rumors say that the Australian tourism board which paid for the show wanted Rock and WWE let them know it would cost extra so maybe they coughed up the cash. I don't think you can run Rock at Mania and not have it be a mess. Guess we'll see what happens.

Having caught Raw this morning since I was busy last night, the show was good and hopefully Giovani is feeling better.

  12. Pre Sirius, it was pretty drab, similar to how a team announces the visiting team. It was a Bull's arena guy who started doing all the extra stuff and actually turning off the lights which was a big deal since the lighting at the old Chicago arena was I want to say halogen and it wasn't a guarantee they would turn back on right away so he really had to advocate for it.

  13. Forgot they were showing a full episode of NXT and not a yearly recap. I can't figure out why OTM matches are dead since their work is solid, I think they need something else to connect with the crowd. Maybe some more clubbering with Briggs and Jensen or Hank and Tank?

Briggs/Dar was solid before the DQ but Meta Four is going to have nonsense with their matches. Not sure why Briggs/Jenson/Henley had to break up, but I guess they want to do some other stuff with their characters. Speaking of, so Fallon's folks own a bar and a ranch? That's some decent on paper wealth which doesn't explain why she had to fight Kianna to get her to back off from trying to buy the bar before. Hell why wouldn't Kianna try to buy the damn ranch with the way farmland is getting snapped up currently? I know, I know it's wrestling logic.

    Fraiser/Bron was fun.

    Underground match was solid too.

I can't see any title changes next week, but I'm excited still.

When it comes to “Texas Death Match rules that aren’t used anymore”, I guess “losing falls will cost you money” is a good answer to “why not lose falls to gain an advantage”

Wait, so it was get a pinfall, 30 second rest period and if your opponent didn't answer a 10 second count after that, you won? That's insane and I'd love to see that gimmick used again to see what kind of finish you'd use.

Have to say though I do hope the next time its suggested Kari does the trash lid spot with Shotzi someone says no. Kairi murders that poor woman every time even when it goes right.

Dude! I had to replay this one a few times because it looked so nasty, I think Shotzi turned in time so the lid hit her shoulder/back, but it's just seems like a nasty spot.

So Liv Morgan arrested in Florida for having over 20 grams of weed in possession.   I guess we will see if Triple H is more lenient with this than others.

If you look on Liv's IG there's a reel of her and CJ Perry making brownies and they are both baked out of their mind.

Also, weed is legal in Florida if you have a medical card, I can imagine a wrestler with their line of work can find a reason to get a card. This is probably a nothing burger.

    Live Thoughts:
A night of matches I hope get posted on YouTube without commercials at some point! Is it part of WWE's psy-op to drive live attendance and PLE subs to only show half of every match? This must be such old hat for people who have been watching regularly

McIntyre and Zayn was a strong showing for TV, I like Drew's new direction

I really dug DIY/Imperium. Sneaky Pete turned a crossbody into a legit offensive move again

In a month Natalya will have been with the company for 17 years straight. She and I are the same age. Sunrise, sunset

    Next Day Thoughts:
Cody is such a cornball, I still have no idea what people see in him

JD and Dom/Creeds was good stuff. I see the criticisms of the Creeds, they do lack experience and could use a little edge/fire/fighting spirit. It's always tough when green folks have to learn on TV but I'm not sure how else it can get done these days, WWE doesn't do excursions and they think if anyone tours the indies they'll come back with bad habits. Also, the JD stands for Judgement Day, his name is Judgement Day McDonagh now

Main event was solid, it never hit that next level and the finish kind of stunk imo. I'm into seeing how Jey can grow as a single outside of the Bloodline, still a ways to go before he's world title level though

I think that initial NXT 2.0 men's class (Bron, Melo, Creeds, Von, Tony D, Briggs and Jenson, Waller) that are still in NXT are as far along as they're going to get and any improvements are going to come on the road with the main roster. They're as mechanically smooth as they're going to be in the ring and they can connect with the PC audience since it's a lot of the same folks so they're not going to learn any new tricks that way. Any improvements for the Creeds are going to come with working out the kinks in front of crowds that don't know that much about them like Waller has figured out.
