Brief thoughts: ZotE2 is the last time I tell myself this is the last time I play a Kojima game, while Metal Gear Rising is the best developmental rushjob since Super Mario World. Punch Out!! and Sin & Punishment are ace, Everybody's Tennis is the best PSP game I've played and I'm fairly sure I chose the wrong Jak game to try between Jak 3 and the first.

Anyway, Salamander is way easier because you can get your ship ridiculously powered up quickly, but it is less fun to me than Lifeforce because it is missing the whole "going into the body" gimmick and goofy voice samples like "kidney stones cannot be destroyed!"

Oh man, I've played Lifeforce as part of the Salamander Portable comp and I think I was using the time to get some album listening in because I had no idea about those samples. I've just youtubed some and they're fantastic, as is re-skinning an asteroid belt level as 'kidney level with "centre membrane" boss and hundreds of kidney stones'. I've got to go back now and play it properly through fantastic voyage eyes as a journey through the body to discover the human body's titular lifeforce (spoiler: it's the space base from the end of Salamader.)

  3.

The second chicken was going to be named by my friend in Japan. She stammered and hem'd and haw'd until I said "say the word on your mind right now." Which ended up being a Japanese term for a penis. So when I went to buy the chicken I went through all the steps- click buy animals, click chickens, click the coop I wanted to put them in... when the Enter Their Name field popped up, the name that was filled in by default was, swear to fuck, "No."

  4. 40-50 bucks + premium price limited edition + season pass + dlc + pre-order bonuses + psplus/gold (console) / have to use their client so no one else gets a cut (PC) + goty edition re-release + next gen 1080p re-release  + no money back if bad (digital) + you do their advertising for them on twitch.

My favourite 'shit, why isn't the market expanding like we predicted?' loss avoiding tactic are digital sales and bundles. Can't milk any more money out of your static userbase despite increasing costs? Sell it to people who aren't going to play it!

  5. Jesus Christ. So in an effort to not forget any of the Games With Gold or PlayStation Plus games that I've downloaded (because I have ended up buying games that it turns out I already own a few times now), I went through the download history on all my consoles and made one giant master list of every game I own. It's much longer than I thought it would be. I gotta start playing some of these.

Making the master list is the hard part. Now you get to put them into http://www.backloggery.com/and feel organised.

I'm back to playing Dota 2 again, trying to figure out where I went wrong with my life.

  6. Also FWIW I'm very interested to see if the "Big 3" possible Valve games (L4D3, Portal 3, and Half-Life 3) ever come out for console. L4D3 is pretty much finished at this point from what I heard. Portal 3 is a definite because Valve likes money, and Half-Life 3 is more of a matter of if and not when. I could very well see all of those games be made exclusive to Steam even though Valve has a history and isn't afraid of the console market.

Valve has stuck pretty well to their word so far about no longer seeing it worthwhile to put resources into making single player experiences like Portal / Half Life.

  7. Well there's more to a console than just exclusive games, but after looking at that list the only games I'm interested in are Destiny, Bloodborne maybe the new FFVII game. I don't know if $450 for three games is really worth it.

Fuck it. I'll just stick to trying to complete my PS1 collection.

I always assumed that I would end up getting a PS4 like I ended up getting most of Sony's platforms but considering I'm always likely to have some form of PC in the future (be it an infini-core Google ear ring or whatever) the argument for me getting one boils down to Do I want to play Bloodborne? I don't even like my PC as a gaming platform but if another Big Box is going to be added to my collection it needs to be able to offer something the others can't, and unless you're sticking with your current PC forever then you don't want to be at risk of a few 'Game X found in Steam database' announcements giving you buyers' remorse. (PS FFVII will show up elsewhere at some point).

  8. I normally don't buy consoles until they are out for at least two years. So I have to ask, is the PS4 a good buy right now? I'm kinda thinking getting either that or just saving up a couple hundred more dollars and going into PC Gaming fully.

Step One: Go to the wiki page for Playstation 4 games.

Two: Click the Excls column title twice so that all the 'Yes's are at the top.

Three: Look at the games in the Yes and Sony categories and decide how happily you can live without them.
