  1.

I think Sting and Cena should be at WM31 the Franchise Player of WCW vs the Franchise Player of the WWE.

With special guest referee Shane Douglas!

I see Tommy as more of the real franchise of ECW. He seemed more like the franchise player of a "real" sports team; tough formative rookie years where he had to prove himself to the jaded fans, also he was around for the glory days would get his points but didnt mind sitting on the bench and letting the Stars getting in their minutes and on the highlight reels but he was the one who there until the bitter end still contributing showing up everyday even when the writing was on the wall. Douglas is more like Lebron to me he was the franchise but got increasingly more disillusioned and left at the first chance at a real opportunity, twice.

Tommy reminds me of the guy on the third or fourth line of an NHL team that never gets the accolades for most of his career but does all of the dirty work.  If Paul E. ever needed someone to put over a new guy or work a story and put someone over Tommy was that guy.  Never the most talented but put his heart out there and loved the business doing whatever needed to be done for the card to succeed including putting up his pickup truck as collateral if I remember one of the old ECW stories correctly.

  2. The Russo argument is such a yawn.

I haven't watched anything involving Russo in ages. But if memory serves correct, under his watch, some stable would form and then it would break up essentially by the end of the show. And there would be about 15 of these every episode.

This happened after over a year of The Shield tearing through the entire roster and, just a few months ago, nearly breaking up due to interpersonal conflicts. Rollins turning came out of nowhere but they did tease the group being on the fringe not that long ago, with Rollins being the only guy holding it together for everyone.

How is this a Russo swerve? Or something that doesn't make sense?

More about lazy writing and swerves for the sake of swerves which punctuated Russo's tenure everywhere.

They devalued the US and Intercontinental Titles and the main title is now in limbo.  Of course ignoring the main title means the focus of the show shifts more towards HHH.

It feels like the WWE is rudderless right now.

  3. Why does the writing feel like the WWE has hired Russo again?

It feels like lazy writing with swerves for the sake of swerves.  Is there a belt that means anything nowadays?

When Rollins turned my first thought was 'is Russo writing this?'

  4. Wait, are people really getting into the idea that there are no such things as faces and heels anymore? That's just the lamest excuse for wrestlers who don't know how to work a character and/or a sign that some members of the crowds need to find another way to waste a Monday night.

The problem started in the tag division where all of the cool tag teams were heels. People love the SHIELD and Wyatt gimmicks. It is more a testament to the wrestlers doing their gimmicks so well that you want to cheer for them.

  5. From start to finish it was perfectly booked.

They pulled off a perfect Tyson-Douglas with Paige and AJ.

Paul Heyman just owned the entire show tonight. He cut an amazing heel promo and had everyone eating out of his hand. Then he comes out later, turns face, and just owns the audience a second time. It takes a special talent to do what he did on the mic tonight. Paul clutching the Andre trophy during the match was pure gold.

I am back watching again because of tonight.

  6. The great R Truth heel turn went south into a face turn because Lil Jimmy got over with the crowd.

Is part of the problem that if you're too good of a heel nowadays, the fan's are going to start cheering for you. Yet, those same qualities that got you over get neutered when you turn face because you have to pander to the fans.
That was the problem with the Shield and Wyatt's. They were just too good at being a heel they crossed the line to face in the eyes of the crowd. Part of that problem is having weak faces to match up against. Who are the strong face teams to give the heels a run?

The Uso's are maybe a year away from being huge faces but in the meantime the crowd is cheering for the Wyatt's.

Creative gets hilariously confused when the crowd starts to get behind heel teams.
