  1. After watching the last episode I think you have to put the over/under on Bryan filing for divorce at two years.

It will be hilarious to watch it play out 2 seasons from now.

I hate saying this but just watching the couple of minutes where they got the house was telling.  Brie uses I and Bryan look at her strange.  The whole bathroom bit where Bryan looked like he would have popped a gasket if it was not for the cameras.

Then they both have different needs in the house and you get a quick edit to the guy saying that they need to discuss stuff and get back to him.  An argument was edited out of there.

Then Brie goes off about 'me' in the cutaway.

That segment spoke volumes that the WWE let that in while trying to get Brie over as a face.

  2. One of the points that separates hockey is that a good portion of their talent pool comes from Canada and Europe, two multi-cultural environments.  I am not sure about Europe but multiculturalism is a huge part of the Canadian educational system and society.  In the US there are still a lot of cultural tensions despite the progress that has been made to date.

Is it me or does AP look worse after today and the Vikings even more so?

  3. I think one potential step to decrease stuff like this is to stop letting these guys coast through college as easily as they do. Anyone remember the Florida State scandal a while back?

Granted, further education isn't 100% the answer here but I feel a lot of these guys just need to have a better perspective on the world and be taught to use their brains a bit more. Their college years are arguably the only real time you have to get through to them. A smart, educated guy is a lot more likely to realize you shouldn't be fucking up your million dollar contract by getting into brawls at nightclub and/or carrying around unlicensed guns.

Florida State is going to trot out Winston this week despite being accused of rape and stealing crab legs.

If there is one guy that needs to be sat down for at least a few games it is Winston.

  4. I saw a documentary a few months ago when it toured called "Kids For Cash." It's about these juvenile judges up around Scranton who were placing juveniles in jail for the dumbest infractions because the people who built the facility bribed them. It's truly awful and really does a good job of showing how this whole thing ruined a lot of lives. There's a book of the same name and it's obviously a lot of the same source material. The book gets into the whole sordid corruption culture of that region, whereas the movie skimmed over it. I wish the film did touch it because it made it seem like the two judges in question were on an island but the book really captures about how corrupt institutions can affect us.

I live in that region and yes it is 100% accurate.  This area is the scum pit of the earth and most people here are Pedo State fans.

People wonder why I rarely speak to anyone and this is why.

  5. So we talked about the Christian Mingle movie earlier but I don't think we actually posted the trailer

I don't think the Lord would approve of the kittens I killed over Lacey Chabert.

But the important thing is IT IS WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY CORBIN FUCKING BERNSEN!!!!!

The trailer felt like a commercial for the website.

  6. I need to figure out how to get my weight loss to the 'next level' that won't make me hate life.  I have lost 75 pounds in the last 18 months and am at my lowest weight since being an adult, but I still have about 20 more to lose and in the last two months I have lost 0 pounds.  I haven't gained any either, just kinda chilling at 191.  I already run three days a week and make sure to get at least 10K steps a day to make sure I stay moving.  I know I have been cheating a little too often food-wise this summer so I am hoping by shaping that back up I can start going downwards again.  Things I can't/won't do is weights (I know it helps, just a personal thing, I absolutely hate weight lifting) or run any more than I already am (also hate running for no reason).  So I need to find a tennis or racquetball buddy, or find some other hobby that gets me moving.  I just got some resistance bands, that may be 'different' enough from lifting weights I may look online and see if I can find some exercises for them.

People keep saying to me "Kevin you're skinny!" which I guess is nice of them but it doesn't really help as I am still overweight, I am just thinn'er' than I used to be and people try too hard to be nice.  But it is starting to get on my nerves :P

Overweight is a hollow term to me.  You can look at a chart on a all which tells you that you should be X weight for X height as if it means anything.  The chart has no idea about your exercise history, build, eating regimen, etc.

I seriously got into working out a year ago despite being in decent shape and wanting to lose 10 pounds.  Turns out I converted the fat into muscle and gained 10 pounds.

If you are having problems losing those last 20 pounds it is probably because you are at your healthy weight.  Your body knows better than you.

  7. How do you determine what a guy's natural weight is year round though?  And who keeps track of it?

You can probably come up with something based around height and measurements (chest, arm, leg, etc).  I would be surprised if there is not something in place already.

Once Apple comes out with healthkit and Android catches up there should be some sort of medical database created for fighters so that during weight cuts one can get an idea of how it adversely affects the body.

Fun fact i heard today : Goodell started at the NFL as a college intern and never left.

Someone mentioned he remembered Goodell giving up press credentials at the Super Bowl years and years ago.

The Phillies have the same problem with Montgomery as President and main partner although he stepped down to fight cancer.

When you are in a business for 30+ years it is a nice achievement but you can clearly see the business mistakes of having one vision your entire career.

From afar, it seemed like he ran the Phillies better than Bill Giles did.

That is probably true but you see things like holding onto the past, acceptance of mediocrity, and an ivory tower for their decisions.  They got lucky on their WS run, the teams for the next two years were better but fell short.

In terms of the NFL you see the ivory tower that they cannot do wrong and that their way of business is correct.  No outside influence as evidenced with the independent panel which is headed by someone who previously worked with the NFL and two owners but no women.  Goodell seems fine with the punishments and code of conduct in the CBA and is resistant to change.

A huge step forward would be admitting that the Code of Conduct and suspensions are a problem and that they need to renegotiate these issues in light of current events.

  10. Goodell is actually succeeding in making Ray Rice a victim of railroading.  Think about that for a moment.  Ray Rice is a VICTIM in a case where he cold-cocked his wife.

Rice's statement hasn't changed.  It's what he told the Ravens.  It's in the police report.  It's on the FUCKING VIDEO.  Which someone at the NFL received, BTW. At no point, has this been altered.  Ray Rice has three documented accounts that he's told the truth from the beginning--but all of a sudden, he's going to lie to Goodell?

Get the ever FUCK out of here with that.

He may be an asshole, but Rice isn't that stupid.  His lawyer had the tape, so he'd probably had been told Goodell would somehow get it, too.  So there would be ZERO reason for him to lie.  Keep telling the truth, and deal with the fallout.  It's not his fault Goodell created/changed policy on the fly.  It's not Rice's fault that Goodell has fucked this up beyond rationale.  Rice is just the conduit on which Goodell is using in hopes of satisifying the masses.

It's Rice's fault that he's in this predictment.  But wow, Goodell has FUBAR on this one.

SMH.  Goodell can't possibly think people are so stupid as to fall for this.  But knowing that half of society probably will doesn't even surprise me.  Because I still don't think Goodell isn't getting fired over this--as long as nothing else comes out.

The league is taking a huge PR hit in this department and I would be surprised if major sponsors are not having conversations with the league behind closed doors right now.

October will be a very uncomfortable month for the league if Goodell is still in charge.

He can step down but stay on in a role as commissioner until a successor is named.

The NFL could have taken a number of baby steps to quell this (many of which required the effort required to lift a pencil) but they went the wrong way each time.

    Just a quick list.

    1.  Interviewing the attacker and victim at the same time and in the same room.

    2.  Not acknowledging that there is a problem with respect to suspensions within the Code of Conduct and CBA.

    3.  Changing the suspension outside of the CBA.

    4.  Denying that the tape ever made it into the NFL's offices.

    Just a start.

  11. If HHH really wants NXT to be its own full brand, they probably need more than an hour a week. I like the show as is, but they leave a whole lot of guys off television every week, and with KENTA, Steen, and Devitt (and Crowe?) all coming in it's going to be even more crowded. Hard to build a touring roster that crowds will pay to see if half of them are only on television once a month.

It is a lot like a MLB or NHL team with a great farm system.  Yeah you want to bring them up but at the same time there is only so much TV to go around and any time the new people receive takes away time from someone from the main roster.

I would love to see Emma on TV more but realize that they are in Total Divas plug mode with the main storyline being the Bellas with Paige/AJ/belt being second.  If they called Bailey up she would get misused because they just have too much talent and not enough time for them.

RIght now Emma is floating in the wind with no Total Divas and no belt.  Bailey would be in the same boat.

    Rule changes for next season.

Quick summary, they are trying to open up the game and get more goal scoring.  Lots of positive changes to that effect.

The game will be faster and more open.

With respect to the OT changes I had a chance to meet Commissioner Bettman at the NHL Draft and he talked about how the scrape and long change has made a 10% difference in ending a game in OT versus the shootout in the ECHL.

I like the new faceoff rule where shots off the net will mean a defensive zone faceoff rather than outside the zone.  That change will make a huge difference in scoring. That is Rule 85.

  13.

For starters, they could have put a woman on the investigation panel.  That would have been a start.  3 connected NFL guys makes it look like they are protecting themselves.

The smart move would be to move Goodell out and slide in someone new while telling the NFLPA that the Code of Conduct policies would be replaced.  Part of the problem is that short of committing murder the teams and league will cover up everything.

He does not have to be fired.  He can step down but keep the title until a successor is named.

One step closer to Commissioner Condaleeza Rice...

Isn't she already busy on the NCAA tournament panel? I also could swear Rice wondered why she was even on the panel. Maybe the context for that is, "I wonder why I'm on this panel, when I should be the NFL commish."

She pays good money to her PR firm.

You could get someone from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence since they are trumpeting October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Mariska Hargitay from Law and Order:  SVU is a supporter.

@RapSheet: .@NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announces ex-FBI director Robert Mueller III will conduct an independent investigation into Rice situation@RapSheet: The focus of the independent investigation will be handling of the Rice evidence. John Mara & Art Rooney will oversee the investigation.

I doubt this goes over well with anyone.  Now they look completely out of touch.

While Art Rooney hasn't been known for his pettiness, I can't imagine Ravens fans are going to be happy to see him involved.   And well not sure anyone is happy for Mara after he stooged the Cowboys and Redskins on that salary cap issue

Rooney and Mara are the only two owners respected enough by the media and other owners to oversee this investigation and they'll be the ones who decide if Godell stays or goes.

I doubt many people will buy two owners, no matter how well they are respected, to oversee an independent investigation.

October is shaping up to be a very difficult and uncomfortable month for the NFL.

\/\/\/  While they are good names it is not like we are getting an independent investigation.  This was another misstep.

Very good article from Bloomberg but one section stands out more than most.

Goodell told CBS that no one in the league saw the footage from inside the elevator until Sept. 8.

“We had not seen any videotape of what occurred in the elevator,” Goodell said. “We assumed that there was a video. We asked for a video. We asked for anything that’s pertinent. But we were never granted that opportunity.”

    .....then later

Revel provided the full video to local and state police, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the state Division of Gaming Enforcement and Rice’s attorney, said Lisa Johnson, a spokeswoman for the hotel.

At the time of Rice’s initial two-game suspension, the NFL said it had reviewed all of the evidence, including video. McCarthy said a request was made to law enforcement for any and all information, including video from inside the elevator.
