Well, how about this, we actually got it out on schedule... This is the fourth in what will likely be a nine or ten volume set containing all of R.A. Lafferty's short fiction. I'm not sure at this point how many volumes it will run as I've put together eight that I'm pretty happy with and still have a bunch of material to work with. My methodology is to try and mix it up as much as possible with the familiar and obscure, the new and the old. Lafferty is fun stuff and each book should be like a cocktail party of thirty random people, so you're never quite certain how the conversation is going to run. Same with R.A. Lafferty, he can be poignant to the point of bringing tears to your eyes or bust a gut funny to the point that you'll laugh out loud. You just don't know what to expect and I've tried my best to make each book a sampler, so that if you've never read Lafferty before, or know him only through a couple of anthology appearances, each book should provide a pretty good overview. We don't have a paperback deal yet (and I really don't expect one, Lafferty is kind of hard to explain to the uninitiated), but these books are a mere $45.00. Consider, put away two dollars a week and every year you can buy both Lafferty collections. We're only putting out two volumes a year on purpose. I want these books to be affordable and while $45 might seem like a lot, when you break it down to two bucks a week, anyone that really wants to can get these books. Enjoy! In a career that began in 1959 and continued until his death in 2002, R.A. Lafferty garnered the admiration of authors and editors including Robert A.W. Lowndes, Harlan Ellison, A.A. Attanasio, Gene Wolfe, Michael Swanwick and many, many others. His body of short fiction is comprised of well over 200 stories and, despite his vast popularity, there was never a concerted effort made to produce a comprehensive collection of his short fiction, until now. Welcome to the fourth volume of the Lafferty Library, a series that will run to a dozen volumes and collect all of R.A. Lafferty’s short fiction. This present volume features Lafferty classics such as Bank and Shoal of Time, The Cliff Climbers, Been a Long, Long Time, Ishmael into the Barrens and many more. The depth and breadth of R.A. Lafferty’s wondrous imagination is on display once again. Enjoy seeing the world as you’ve never seen it before! This volume includes an introduction by Richard A. Lupoff, an afterword by John Pelan, and photographs of R.A. Lafferty. This item is now shipping. If you have ordered signed copies of the previous books in this series, you will receive your matching number and signed copy of this volume.
