  1. How long have guys like Cena and Orton been on top compared to Austin and the Rock? It's basically the same people on top as the "faces" of the promotion. They added Punk into the mix, but he's been there for years now, and they're adding Bryan into the mix, but they've still got plenty of time to screw him up. They may not, but it's possible, is what I'm saying.

Other characters: Nexus: great introduction, flawed follow-through; Ziggler's been there for a while, but they can't figure out how to really get him into that top group; the Shield: I thought they would break through, but something's veered off course. It's probably not too late with them, but the WWE needs more new faces at the top sooner rather than later. Even HHH won't go away - the WWE needs to make a clean break from the HHH/McMahon follies days and start finding a way to make new stars.

I suggest the WWE sign Freight Train from 5 Dollar Wrestling and start having him do 20-minute promos on Raw. Actually, I'm totally kidding, but I'd watch it. For about 10 minutes. Maybe.

  2. When were the Nasty Boys a good tag team? I can't recall anything but the Hogan cronies who were stinking up the Monday Night Wars-era WCW with "The Pit Stop." Or were they actually good then and my mark ass thought they sucked because The Pit Stop was such a stupid thing to do.

The Road Warriors had more charisma in an eyelash than those guys had in their whole bodies, and could talk circles around them, too. I agree that the Road Warriors become exposed when you have to branch out from playing "Iron Man" and having them destroy jobbers, but they seemed to have gotten around that pretty well.

  3. Whatever college football and UFC that was being shown on FX will wind up on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 will just keep doing the UFC they're doing now, I reckon. I can see Fox Sports 1 making a play for something like NBC's coverage of the NHL, but that's hardly a game-breaker.

I wonder why there's not more major sports on the major channels nightly - over the past 18 months or so, I've taken a shine to the NBA. There's games on Thursdays on TNT, generally, with games sometimes on ESPN on Wednesdays and Fridays. Now NBATV has plenty of games on - from looking at the TV schedule for next season, I may have to break down and get my cable company's sports tier to get NBATV - but it would seem like one of the major networks like ESPN or Turner or Fox Sports 1 could get a deal where they could broadcast NBA games 5-6 nights a week - what else do they have to do? Same with Major League Baseball - is it just cost-prohibitive for ESPN to have a national game of the night during baseball season?

  4.

Christ two more pages of WHACKY~1 restaurant talk.

Fine lets talk about how Bryan is the only idiot that thinks the fan who gave Randy Orton a nut shot in South Africa was a complete work. Of course he doesn't probably believe it I figure it is good for his gimmick and to pop the message board.

So we can't talk about something else in the wrestling observer thread? Meltzer does only talk wrestling in the Observer, so that's fair, I reckon.

You can talk about whatever the fuck you want, just stop being a bitch about it. No one is putting a gun to your or rovert's head saying you can only talk about diners and can't argue with odessa regarding how much he likes the Observer or if there is too much MMA content.

Dang, skip, chill, I was just funnin'.

  6. It just feels like Viacom put Bellator in this situation to see if they can turn a real profit. You don't do PPV as a secondary promotion unless you have at least two or three PPV commodities. They have one (literally two past their prime fighters combining as one) at best. That won't cut it.

The first thing I thought is that maybe putting on a PPV helps them in the Eddie Alvarez battle.

  7. I got All You Can Eat Pancakes from IHOP a few months back, and they start you out with three and then ask if you want 2 more, then 2 more, etc. I finished nine and the waitress quit asking if I wanted two more. i didn't, I was freakin' stuffed, but I at least wanted to be asked, know what I mean? It's "All I can eat," not "all the waitress thinks I should eat."

  8. The segment where Cesaro just kept uppercutting Bryan reminded me of the Kobashi vs. Samoa Joe segment where Kobashi chops Joe 2,500 times.

Did it bother anyone else that the ending was basically "yeah, sure, Bryan can beat three guys, but let's quit pussing around and make him fight Kane"? Saying fighting three guys is a warmup to fighting one is flattering to the one guy, I guess, but does the three no favors.

  9. The thing about Hero is that wrestling is his full-time job. A lot of regular people struggle with finding the time to work out/do diet prep, etc., because they have jobs that take up a bunch of time on a daily basis. It can be done, but it's much harder. This is Hero's job. Surely he doesn't train in the ring eight hours a day.

If they want him to juice up and he doesn't wanna, that's another story, but if they want him to work out more, he should be able to squeeze it into his day.

  10. Pretty good chance that him backhanding that guy with the game will be the best thing I see all week. Maybe month.

Yeah, that was awesome, a total LOL moment for me, IMHO YOLO.

Does it look like Warrior's limping as he's walking toward the end of the video? His politics are insane, but I'm glad to see him and the WWE mend fences and him get (probably) a good payday out of this deal.

  11. I saw that yesterday and thought "man, how incredibly obsessive is that?," then I just remembered the 74-page death of Chikara PDF that was going around and now it doesn't seem so bad at all.

  12. I'm on my second run through Skyrim, but that's getting old. Wanna see if one of the local Redboxes has Bioshock Infinite on my "weekend." I'd consider buying it if I like the controls, but I'd rather give it a run-through first.

I'm getting psyched for the South Park RPG - if it's gonna suck, no one tell me. Let me be disappointed when the reviews come in.

  13. How can anyone say Silva won that round? All he did was clown him and make his way up from being on his back for a couple of minutes. The escape from the takedown was thrilling, but the takedown should trump the escape. It was an easy 10-9 round for Weidman.
